Finally catching up on Entries! Day 3 is the Spear!! About this Entry: OF COURSE ITS KYOKO HOW COULD IT NOT BE KYOKO! She’s arguably best girl in Madoka and the first person I thought of in terms of spear wielding. Some could argue Sailor Saturn should get the spot but her weapon is a glave, not a spear. That being said spears are becoming surprisingly more common in magical girl anime but in my eyes Kyoko is the Pioneer and IMO one of the best. I may not like Madoka Magica that much but I do like Kyoko and the manga spin off different story was alright enough. The final installment of Weapons Month series one!! The Musical Instrument represented by the one and only Princess of Crimson Flames, Cure Scarlet. This was by far the most difficult to choose. Originally I thought it would be obviously Cure Beat, she has a guitar and is from the music themed season after all. However the guitar turns into a sceptre when she attacks with it which I felt disqualified her. After much umming and ah-ing I finally decided on Cure Scarlet. Unlike the other music cures she has more range in terms of the attacks she can use with her Scarlet Violin thanks to her princess keys which allow her to summon flames, fireworks, Phoenixes and even the sun. Not to mention the violin has ties to her character outside of fighting crime which strengthens the significance of the weapon. It’s a wonder I didn’t pick her in the first place! I know I know I’m a bit behind but hey I’m catching up little by little. Day 4 is the archer!! About this Piece: Like swords I was spoiled for choice in terms of Archer Rep. I could’ve used Madoka but to be fair we don’t see her use the bow much and it would break my no consecutives rule and as mentioned before, Sailor Mars can’t be both the archer and the Pyromancer, so I think you can guess where she is. In the end you never forget your first and for me it was Korina Bucksworth aka Mint Aizawa, aka Mew Mint. Seeing Mew Mint twirling like a ballerina while wielding a Bow and Arrow was what got me into Mew Mew Power/Tokyo Mew Mew in the first place. So it would be a shame not to have her represented! Welp, day 2 took longer than planned but I got a bit busy and I forgot how complex Fuu’s design was! Lol ABOUT THIS ENTRY: Looking back, there were tonnes of eligible entries for the sword spot! Swords are common weapons for magical girls but I was tied between two. After much mulling I decided to go with Fuu from Yuki Yuna is a Hero because Fuu is amazing! Why? Well first of all, how many magical girls do you know that fight with a broad sword?! A weapon typically given to Goliath like characters! Secondly, for the majority of the series (spoilers) she does it with one eye! And third, she’s one of the few magical girls who isn’t pink or the main character and is the leader of her team, and a good one at that! Ladies and Gentlemen! The moment you’ve all been waiting for! #inktober2019 and I am SO EXCITED!! ABOUT THE THEME: Thanks to permission from greenscorpion64 aka the Green Scorpion on YouTube I present you the theme of this year’s Inktober: WEAPONS MONTH!! But me being me, I decided to add a magical girl twist!! So all the weapons masters will be magical girls! But there are a few magical girl rules! 1. Only magical girl anime I’ve seen. No matter how cool a design is if I haven’t seen it I can’t use it (Sorry Nanoha fans) 2. Have to be confirmed magical girls (Sorry Persona 5 fans) 3. No double ups. For example Sailor Mars can’t be both the archer and the pyromancer 4. Two entry’s next to each other can’t be from the same show, let’s add some variety. ABOUT THIS ENTRY: Ironically despite being the first topic I found this one the hardest to find an entry for. I literally had to google “magical girl scythe weilder” and as mentioned before couldn’t use the Nanoha series as I hadn’t seen it. But then Kirika came out in explosive glory and said “hey remember Symphogear?!” And it seems appropriate to start with Symphogear as it recently burst back with a new season!!
