So after a day of heavy rain, the sky cleared up just in time for me to fit 2 more miles in on my way home. Look at those blue skies! The derby gods are smiling down on me so far for sure. 5.9 down, 494.1 to go... Let's see how many of those we can get through tomorrow at training!

I would skate 500 miles!

GRD are going to playoffs!

To celebrate reaching £500 on our fundraiser to get the Glasgow Roller Derby team, The Irn Bruisers, to this years WFTDA Division 1 playoffs in Jacksonville, Florida, I am going to skate 500 miles. Then, when the fundraiser hits £1000 I am going to skate 500 more. (See what I’m doing here…?) After that I will skate one mile for every pound raised over £1000.

500 miles is roughly:

14,667 laps skating the diamond on a roller derby track

8000 laps in the OPR lane

One tenth of the distance between Glasgow Roller Derby’s regular bouting venue and the Jacksonville playoffs

I will complete as many of these miles as possible in Glasgow before we leave, I will skate in Florida, I will skate in Sweden, I will skate everywhere I can until every mile pledged has been accounted for, and I will use this blog to chart my progress and post some daft photos of the strange places I am skating.
