This melted our hearts and made our camp extremely humbled. . After all the hard work, financial sacrafice, sweat, tears, wanting to quit, parent helpers, athlete helpers, and so much more, we read this article with great humility. 😭 . We knew from the start that what we did would be a sacrifice for our magazine, club, and family. (Personally attacked our family online) We didn't know the impact, but we knew we had to do something for the kids. They had nothing, they had nowhere to go, nothing to do, nowhere to turn. . We knew in our hearts, we knew from experience, that we had to step up in the pandemic. Step up is what we did and the pole vaulters came. . Their parents came first, then their grandparents, then the whole community. Thy learned something over the summer. They learned what it was like to be free, have civil rights, and basic human dignity. Agree or disagree, this is what we saw and people felt. . So, as we continue to be attacked personally, our club, our magazine, from parts of the pole vault community online, we will continue to march. The county was called, the city, in mass attempts by our rival clubs in the area to stop us.
