Vintage in everyday life #02
Vintage in everyday life #02: Pearls and Jewelery in general
You can give every outfit a vintage touch by adding retro/vintage jewelery. It does not need to be real jewelery or original vintage one.
Take for example pearls. If you own real ones and if you are not afraid of loosing them i would recommend to use those because most of the time you will see a difference. But if you don’t own real ones and just want to try it out than i would not buy real pearl jewelery but look for some nice faux ones.
The same appears for any other kind of jewelery. You don’t need to look for some original stuff just go with the things you already own and try to combine them.
As an inspiration i really love looking at old pictures, watching old (black-and-white or technicolour)movies, see some modern interpretations or other blogs /youtube channels of people who do also wear vintage.
Of course is for example a statement necklace not going to make your outfit appear retro the key is to get a selection of different plain base items in clothing as well as in jewelery.Doing this you will at least most of the time thing to combine in different ways but without spending way too much money.(I am not saying here that you shouldn’t get youself any fancy items anymore.Don’t do that!If you see that rockabilly dress with the crazy pattern and you like it,go fot it!Everybody needs some crazyness in his or hers closet. And also have you got enough plain things you can combine it with now).
Here’s an example:
I once got myself a plain (i should have counted how often i have used this word up to now, probably way too often)light pink knitted sweater that was actually preatty ugly and formless.I just wore it at home because when i wore it it would simply hang down, nothing more.I than noticed that many vintage bloggers would simply plug the below part of their tops in their trousers and add a belt to it.I did so and voilá it looked already much better and it even gave me a little waistline.I added a pearl necklace, bracelet and some pearl earrings furthermore i did kind of a half updo with a retro hair clip and this look became one of my favourite ones to wear.I even got some compliments that day about how nice and (which made my love for this look even increase) retro it looked.
