The air was cold and damp, wrapping Genevieve in a heavy blanket of moisture. Blonde strands clung to her cheeks under the hood of her jacket. The lush and dense wood had her mind in a whirlwind. Jason wouldn’t be lost. He’d have them on the right track, making quips, making her laugh, but he wasn’t here.
To say she was on edge was an understatement. Every crack or echo in the silence had the ever brave criminal looking over her shoulder. In the city, she knew what lurked in it’s underbelly yet out among the timber lurked more than she quite understood. It was all worth it to her, to follow what she could find in hopes of seeing Jason again.
Actual rain drops began to fall and as luck would have it, the forest began to clear. And like something out of a fucked up version of Hansel and Gretel a worn dilapidated cabin sat in the midst of the small clearing. Before the rain completely soaked her, Gen went inside. It was dark and even before her eyes could adjust she could tell someone or something, was or has been living here. For the first time since the super moon, she had hope.
‘ Hello ... Jason? ’
