We moved a weatherhaven! Lastnight at 12:00 am (yes, midnight) the team successfully transported our weatherhaven to the new platform we built last spring. We decided that moving the current weatherhaven would best fit our plans once the new (and larger) weatherhaven arrives. With a simple plan, calm winds, brilliant engineering, and a large amount of manpower we were able to move the weatherhaven a whopping 30 feet! The whole operation from start to finish only took an hour and a half. Not a bad way to end the day
Today (May 18th) we also saw the departure of Phil, Gabriel, and Matt as they head back to Inuvik, marking the end of their 2016 spring field season. They will be heading home to begin analyzing their field data (and enjoying their summer). They will be missed around camp - especially now that only Evan and myself (Branden) remain in camp for the next three weeks... just the two of us. Let’s hope we don’t get cabin fever.
We have also run out of some camp essentials, primarily fresh meat and veggies. We’ve had to get creative and try some culinary experimentation, vis-a-vis pan fried pepperoni pizza.
