Web 2.0 Tools ♥

   Hello again everyone, in today’s post we are going to talk about web 2.0 tools and I am going to show you my own personal infographic that I created about my top 5 web 2.0 tool.

   Social media sites such as Instagram and Twitter are some of the examples of Web 2.0 tools. So we can say that all of us use some Web 2.0 tools in our daily life but we just don’t realize.We can use Web 2.0 tools to enhance learning and teaching.  A Web 2.0 website allows users to interact and collaborate with each other through social media.

   And for this post we were supposed to create an infographic which is composed of our 4-6 favorite Web 2.0 tools. And I choosed Pinterest, LinkedIn, Animoto, Skype and Edmodo. And by doing this I used the website called Canva.

Web 2.0 tools

The SAMR model helps to demonstrate how to use Web 2.0 tools successfully for learning. 

SAMR stands for Substitution, Augmentation, Modification & Redefinition. 

Working in the modification and redefinition stages allows transformation in the students learning as they are learning skills that will transfer into the digital real world as opposed to just being used as a new and different way of learning. 

Using web 2.0 tools gives more opportunities for learning and teaching by redefining the traditional way an activity is done. A way to use web 2.0 tools in health and physical education is to incorporate the use of apps such as pages, word, book creator, quizlet, explain everything, google docs and stop motion. These apps can be used in numerous ways for a range of different teaching activities.

Pinterest: an interesting way to save favorites

If you haven't heard of Pinterest.com, you should.  It is a new waste of time, but it is very productive.  I know, sounds like an oxymoron.  I know everyone surfs the net and we find some pretty phenomenal stuff out there; but what do I do with it, in the chance that I will ever need any of it. This is the tool for you.  

Basically, you are saving pictures of websites that interest you.  It is called pinning.  You are saving them to boards that you have created ahead of time.  Then, you put a clever little icon on your toolbar, which aids in doing this.  So next time you are surfing and find an idea for use later, you "pin it."  Pretty cool.  Check it out at http://pinterest.com/

Learning New Technology

Since the IPad2 has come into my life, I have a new resurgence in "taking in" new web2.0 tools.  This morning I was online at 6 a.m. with my Aussie friends learning about Screenr: a screencasting website which has some really cool features.  

Yesterday, I downloaded a new music app for the IPad2 called Thumbjam.  It is a wonderful app, but alas, there is a large learning curve with it.  I have spent most of the afternoon creating a 20 second musical piece only to discover that I couldn't export it as an MP3 because the IPad doesn't work that way.  So. . .after much reading and not understanding, I visited the online website and joined the forum.  I got some answers which only opened a lot more of unknown territory.  I am still stuck as to how to get the downloaded material to play on my desktop, but tomorrow is another day.
