First of all, let me explain what web 2.0 is and why it is used. Unlike Web 1.0 technology, web2.0 technology is the internet environment, where user is active with some features such as promoting from the position of just receiving information to providing information, having the information produced, sharing, discussing, etc. In other words, it is the web sites or applications used such as YouTube, Eksi Sozluk, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc. sites where the users can see, follow the activities of other users, get in contact with them, make joint activities or programs.

It’s all very well creating these beautifully rendered experiences but we’ve got to a point where these experiences should no longer be one-offs. If the dream is to raise the standard of sophistication of online video across the board — and that is our bold ambition — then we need a powerful enough tool that can seamlessly slot into a standard production line. As content creators we need to balance that level of creative expression and deliver on execution so we need a tool that can provide for a schedule where we are churning out content constantly. Interactivity needs to fit into what we already know: we shoot, we edit, we layer interactivity and then we publish. That’s the end goal.

If you consider the nature of documentary, “web-native” stories seem like a natural fit. Jon Grierson, father of documentary, described documentary as the “creative treatment of actuality.” And there is plenty of “actuality” out there that filmmakers can draw into a web experience.

If you can at all avoid it, don’t waste your time writing code. The beauty of open source is that often, someone has already solved your problem. It’s much smarter to spend time repurposing and mashing together code, rather than starting from scratch.
