To anyone who thinks your local races don't matter for voting purposes, this is a state law that passed, that will now affect other states and countries beginning May 6th, 2026. It's not technically enforceable because VPNs, by nature, hide a user's actual location. That's the entire point. But what they can do now is use this as an excuse to shut things down they don't like by saying they 'violated this bill'.
This is also tied into the "Think of the Children" rhetoric as well. 'Age Verification' has been a problem for a very long time, and that'san entire rant on it's own. There will always be ways around it, and there will always be fallout on everyone else whether they agree with it or not.
Authoritarianism is not the answer. It scares the shit out of me too see so much danger and there's little I can actively do to stop it.
It's mostly Rich Old White Men doing everything they can to cling on to every aspect of power they can, and it's hurting the entire country. It affects you even if you "don't fuck with it". It will still go right ahead without your consent.
Many of us have said it before and will say it again: It's never about 'the children', it's about control and power. Do not give it to them.

"Utah isn’t alone in trying to legislate the impossible into being. In the UK, the House of Lords — Parliament’s secondary chamber — voted 207-159 in January to ban VPN services for under 18s, with those amendments now due to be debated in the House of Commons. VPN use jumped by more than 1,400% on the first day of age verification enforcement in July last year. Meanwhile, France’s digital affairs minister, Anne Le Hénanff, has said that VPNs are “next on my list.” Wisconsin considered similar VPN provisions earlier this year but scrapped them due to heavy backlash.
To date, the only countries that have made progress in blocking VPN traffic with some success are authoritarian regimes with ISP-level surveillance."
Senate Bill 73 holds websites liable for users who mask their location.
Rewatching Mr.Rogers Neighborhood with @greenytoons .
Mainly the episodes recommended on his website. And I got to say, the Welcome Home ARG community should watch it.
Semi spoilers of why and link to watch it:
We are watching, "How people make tricycles" and they have quotes like, 'dont pick the flowers, listen to them.' and other cool stuff we keep linking back to welcome home. Also helps all the episodes right now on the Mr.Rogers Neighborhood are spring themed just like the Welcome Home website.
It's very interesting.
Here is a link to it:
