5. Forrest Gump
In the '94 film "Forrest", played by Tom Hanks gets a pair of new Nike Cortez and decides to take a run to the end of the road, then to the end of town, then clear across America.
4. White Men Can't Jump
One of the famous scenes of the movie is when Billy Hoyle (Woody Harrelson) is first picked up by Sidney (Wesley Snipes) after a player gets hurt. In a wide shot that features some of the hottest Nike sneakers of that time. Snipes in the Nike Air Flight Lite High, Harrelson in the Nike Air Command Force and Kadeem Haridson in the Jordan 6's. Classic moment for Nike but for the sneaker game.
3. He Got Game
Of course a Spike Lee movie would have a scene about his main man Mike's Air Jordan's. In the '98 film Jake Shuttlesworth played by Denzel Washington gets an opportunity to come home to jail to persuade his son Jesus played by Ray Allen to go to the governors alma mater in exchange for a lighter sentence. When Jake gets out of jail one of his first stops was to the sneaker store for the latest Jordans.
2. Back To The Future II
Marty is given the Nike Air Mags by Doc to look inconspicuous in the year 2015. With power laces and lighting throughout the sneaker its ironic that those were Nike's ideas of the future of sneakers yet the Nike Air Mag is the only sneaker released by Nike that possesses those features. Nonetheless, the transparent sole seen in the Jordan 5s, 6's and 11's come directly from the Air Mag concept designed by the famous Tinker Hatfield.
1. Do The Right Thing
Most famous sneaker scene of this era. Everybody can relate. Self explanatory.
Throwback Thursday.....Back When The Quality Was Better
In the sneaker craze of retros most people aren't even concerned about the quality of the product they are receiving versus what that same product cost 20 years ago. Of course, you have to add in inflation but little is made of the quality of the sneakers we are getting compared to the older versions. Jordan Brand has promised to enhance the quality in 2015 which also will enhance the price, but until then consumers paid over $170 for the Jordan 4 "Military Blue" while the OG release was $110 in 1989 with vastly better quality. Props to Jordan Brand for admitting and improving their product.
Throwback Thursday.....Gilbert Arenas in Dolce Gabbana's
Before Nate Robinson was rocking Yeezy's in games there was this other guy, Gilbert Arenas. Gil was known for his outrageous sneaker choices. Even while signed to Adidas he had 82 different colorways of the Gil Zero Low que-ed up to allow him to never where the same sneaker for the entire season. Here we take look at one of Gilbert's most crazy choice against the Lakers....Dolce Gabbana Sneakers.
