           I got lost again today, or yesterday, not important.  I went out, looking for my shield, just to give one last chance to find it on this island.  After a day’s worth of walking with no results I decided it best to return. Night was tucking in over the island and I thought it best to take a ferry to get back to the estate, or at least get close to it.  So I gathered some money together and purchased a ticket.  I boarded and had a very pleasant conversation with some of the other passengers.

I suspected something was wrong when I noticed the island getting further away.  It wasn’t long before I reached the conclusion that I had taken the wrong ferry.  Fortunately I wasn’t being kidnapped, just a simple misreading of my ticket.  I’m not used to making that sort of blunder, but I suppose it’s nothing to be ashamed about.  By morning I had arrived at my accidental destination.  Apparently I ended up in some port town in a desert. Thanalan, I believe the nation is called.  It’s a nice enough place, what you’d expect from a desert at least.  

           The town I arrived at was scheduled to have a bazaar.  Odd how that keeps happening, finding myself at markets when I’m looking for my shield.  I digress. It was a very interesting bazaar, full of magical trinkets and oddities.  There were people of all shapes and sizes, and several reunions of friends.  It was lovely to see and it brought a little warmth to my heart, all told.

           I was content to just sit to the side and wait for the next ferry back to La Noscea, but to my surprise I was greeted by Miss Phen.  She seemed a long way from home… but then so am I.  We sat a talked for a little while.  I told her about my predicament, being lost.  She seemed to take the blame for me wandering off without help, the poor dear.  She gave me a strange little thing, a linkpearl I believe it’s called.  From what I’ve read it’s used for communicating from long distances.  I’m not exactly sure how to use it, but I’m sure I can figure it out with enough practice. Miss Phen and I parted ways once she was sure I’d be alright.  It sounded like she wanted to find a gift for a friend of hers, and this market may be the place after all.

           So now I’m just waiting for the return ferry.  It should be here in the morning.  I’ve been sitting with some sailors, drinking the evening away.  One of them keeps complaining that the “wine tastes of piss” and he’s correct.  Of course, that isn’t stopping us from drinking it.

           It was a fun little outing.  I met some interesting people and saw some new places.  It’s amazing what you can find when you get yourself properly lost, but don’t we already know that better than most?
