I know nobody cares but look at this picture from when the weed wrangle group went and pulled up garlic mustard (invasive) I'm just so happy to have been a part of it!
This was the third year and the amount of mustard garlic has declined drastically! They now have vast amounts of chickweed that is swiftly finding it's way back into the area! This is just a reminder that garlic mustard chokes out native plants and is toxic to some species of butterflies and will kill larvae that feed on it. If you want to forage for garlic mustard they grow quite tall in their second year (sometimes hip height) and they have white flowers with four petals. The leaves at the base are rounded and near the top are more jagged. They look like this
They have shallow roots so simply grip them at the base and pull. This is the perfect plant for beginner foragers because they're easy to identify, easy to pull, and if you aren't confident in your visual identification you can simply snap one open and smell it'll smell of garlic. Plus foraging them actively helps the environment!
