Papyrus was fully prepared! He had even brought the dating guide book to aid in his ventures to capture the human… in a dating kind of way of course! One of the steps was to hold hands and although it took a while to work up the courage he did manage, and all before the bus arrived! Now that’s the great Papyrus for you! Now the only trouble is that he needs to turn the page… and his page turning hand just so happens to be preoccupied with holding your hand. Oh no! This wouldn’t do! He managed to follow the first step and he can’t take it back, he will never let go! Well… unless step 2 said to let go… or the bus arrives… or the need to solve a puzzle with two hands presents itself. Focus Papyrus! Perhaps… he doesn’t need the dating guide anymore, things are going great already. OR he should ask his date mate to turn the page for him! Brilliant idea! Amazing actually! Dream work is team work after all! Nyeh heh heh!

At the beginning of our most recent Xena: Warrior Podcast ep about 4x14, “Devi,” you may recall Katie mentioning something pretty significant...that something being GETTING HER VERY FIRST TATTOO. Read on for the story!
As you may or may not be aware, Gabrielle's journey on XWP is one of my favorite fictional character arcs to ever be. For a lot of reasons, both personal and related to my connection to the show, I fell in love with a line in "Sins of the Past," where sweet baby angel Gabs crosses the bridge out of her little town for the first time, following Xena on an epic adventure. She cutely repeats "the bridge will hold me up" like a mantra as she walks across and faces that initial fear...and I now have those words on my arm!
Once I decided I wanted to get it (and I'd been thinking about it for a year, no split second decision, this!), I thought, "wouldn't it be awesome to actually have it in Renée O'Connor’s writing?" I thought having that connection would make it all the more special, but didn't really think it would happen......
But then, most excellent friend of the podcast Amanda met Renée at Tampa Bay Comic Con! Before the con, I had asked for the quote in writing not knowing if it was something that I'd really be able to get, but not only did Renée provide, she even wrote the quote down in two ways for me to choose from! I think there may have been a double-take, and a "wait WHAT is it for?" when she was informed it was going to be turned into a tattoo. Which resulted in some really nice cursive and print options, having that permanently-inked-into-someone's-skin knowledge guiding her penmanship. :D :D :D Here's a pic of the original options:
Once acquired, the only thing left was to decide where I wanted it, and which version of the quote I was going to use...and, this has been a lot of words, so I think I'll let some images tell the rest of the story. Many thanks to Nora and Vera for their excellent documentarian/photography skills! (P.S. there are no visible needle/tattoo gun pics, if that's something that you might not want to see!)
Above, your trusty Xena: Warrior Podcast hosts. Clockwise from top left, me sticking out my tongue trying not to be nervous, Livy, and Vera. :)
At the shop...and some tattoo-less arms...
And then some no longer tattoo-less arms...
I did the thing!
Suffice it to say, this show and this podcast journey mean Quite A Lot to me.
Thanks again, Xena: Warrior Podcast listeners, for being on the journey with us!
