just thought I might mention in the star trek video game that came out this year, one of the vulcans working on new vulcan mentions how the elder spock would oppose to his plans. (Surok's audio log 2 if you were curious). So the writers dont seem to be keeping it a secret at all

Oh cool, thank you! I think we'll go with Jim having a clue who Spock is, rather than have to plot out a reveal. It makes my life easier. Thanks, Star Trek video game writers!
