Just kidding, it actually is! I might've almost forgotten about the day coming up too due to work, but it's been a pretty relaxing day so far and I couldn't have asked for a better result, especially on a Sunday. 

And now that I’ve torn through a few reports I’m really hoping to get in a little writing, and if I can get more than a few hundred words down it’ll totally be a day well spent. :D

okay so

alice as she was is still gone

but watching the queens gambit made me miss anya taylor joy so

a few possible alice 2.0 facts:

she’s just the town mechanic - she comes to town for the same reason, but she never joins the sheriffs department. she’s not really a great mechanic, she prefers running the office, but once it gets to the point that her employees are leaving (either the county or for the cult), she’s able to step in and do most basic things

she might have red hair now because hello i am weak

(okay honestly a lot of alice 2.0′s style is similar to beth’s - still primarily dark colors and she still loves crop tops/high waisted shorts/pants, but she also has a lot more vintage-inspired stuff)

and because that’s as far as i’ve gotten for fc!alice, a cyberpunk!alice fact: she’s... with the moxes. that’s all i got. i really need to play the game to get a feel for them, but i feel like she would like what they’re doing, and she could work behind the scenes at lizzie’s.

7. Which part of writing do you struggle with most?

....all of it?

really, it’s finding the right words - sometimes i can go and go and go, but them sometimes i just can’t find the right words for what i have in my head, and it trips me up for months.

10. Do you enjoy writing dialogue, exposition, or plot the most?

dialogue! i’m terrible at everything else lol

15. A Hollywood producer tells you that they want to film just one of your fics. Which fic would you want it to be?

oh jesus

uh - beginning again could be good, if it was expanded. the years after the bombs would be fascinating to explore more, and i do want to expand on that fic in general...

18. What is a line/scene you’re really proud of? Give us the DVD commentary for that scene.

honestly, i really do love all of beginning again - i rushed it so it’s not as long as i’d like, but it’s good.

this section in particular i felt like was a good gut-punch, and a reminder of who/what faith is:

“We sent out messages to people to come here.” Tracey shrugged. “Just to check in. We’re missing a lot of people still, the Sheriff - he’s worried about his daughter, and we just sent someone out to check on the Dennos. Laura, Josh’s wife…”

Faith followed Tracey’s gaze to the wall above the vending machines, and her face dropped.

The wall - it was people who died when her Angels and Chosen had attacked the jail.

Knowing the name of someone who had died here… It… Was rough.

19. Who is the easiest/hardest character for you to write about? Why?

honestly? pretty much anyone who isn’t alice or faith. sharky and adelaide are super difficult for me to write, just because they are so insanely different from how my brain works. mary may is somewhat easy, but i don’t know how much of her “canon” self i’m actually putting into the fic...

5. What is the perfect environment for you to write in? I mainly write at my desk, with headphones on. Music helps sometimes, but silence can be just as effective. From time to time, I can write while listening to TV or movies. Usually only things I’ve seen before or films that serve as inspiration for particular characters or story ideas. I also used to write well in coffee shops and such, but with social distancing, I’m avoiding human watching--which honestly I have not participated in years and years. 

9. Do you prefer to write AUs, canon divergence, or canon-compliant fic? I tend toward canon divergence. I’ve written the rare AU, which was actually more of an AU of an RP scenario. But most of my fandom writing tends to diverge from canon in minute ways (moving/changing events, adding original side-tracking story elements) to more noticeable and systemic changes, like adjusting the magic system in Dragon Age. I do use canon as a guide, but I will more than happily chuck it if it is not working for me. 

11. A Hollywood producer tells you that they want to film just one of your fics. Which fic would you want it to be? Oh, I would love to see someone turn New Perspectives into a film version. I mean currently it is an ME pre-game fic, but the majority of it could be refashioned--names changed to protect the innocent kind of thing. I had a lot of fun writing it and it really felt like at the time, one of the most complete and complex stories I’ve written. And it is the one that is most intimately my own. 

Also in this moment of reflection, I find myself wondering if the struggles that I have with certain stories doesn’t stem from the fact that they are “rewrites” or “along side” of the game storylines ... in a way they’ve already been written. Sorry, just musing.
