Weekly Discussion (Feb.2- Feb.9 2020): What got you into witchcraft?
@jadedskylark: So I got into witchcraft cause my friend decided to summon a demon/negative entity into my home at my 13th birthday party. I felt the need to get rid of it myself so I started looking into witchcraft and spellwork to protect my parents and younger siblings. Now here I am a decade later still doing it lol
@jew-ish-witch-ish: I got into witchcraft when I was thirteen too, funnily enough. I guess thirteen's a good age to explore. I was at a sleepover at a friend's house and they had one of those kitschy spell books, the ones meant for coffee tables. Well, I got it in my head that I was going to become a witch from spells in that book, and form a coven with my friends. The very next day, I dragged my friends to a metaphysical shop in town and got super intimidated by everything. I ended up asking my friend's dad to buy us some mugwort because it sounded the most magical, and then we burned it at his house and it gave me a headache . It was pretty anticlimactic as far as magic goes, but for some reason I stuck with it until I actually started getting results.
@carleyhasbeenhere: Okay. So alot of things but what brought me back in the year of 2020. Is I read Madeline Miller's book "Circe". And the way she had circe deal with herbs and magick got me swooning. I don't necessarily like how she portrayed Circe in it but I do relate alot to her through it and that's why I have to learn more about her! I know the myths and everything but now I'm on the hunt for people's personal experiences. Which I don't really feel like I'm going to be able to find anyone so what brought me. Circe. Herbs. The essence of witchcraft itself basically. The excitement knowing that if circe has very few people following her and devoting themselves to her then she's probably got time to deal with a depressed 24 year old trying to figure out how to witch.
@cottage-witch-wifey: I’ve only been practicing for about a year now, but I had noticed more and more people talking about witchcraft and thought I’d see what they were talking about. The more I learned, the more it made sense for me. Struggling with anxiety and depression I was especially drawn to the self care aspect of it :)
