The Memo ~ November 9, 2018
As I was making my rounds on the Internet this week, I took the time to jot down a few things I thought were worth sharing. Here’s The Memo for this week!
1). Tim Ferriss has interviewed Seth Godin again for his regular podcast. I have a hard time listening to podcasts, so I’m thankful that Tim posted the transcript of their conversation on his blog. Tim and Seth talk about saying no, choosing projects to work on, and the difference between long work and hard work.
2). My friend Andrew Embury shared this inspiring video poem called “All the Way.” It’s based on Charles Bukowski’s poem, “roll the dice.”
3). Being an entrepreneur means constantly learning how to manage and steward money. Tom Ferry made this incredibly informational video on How to Properly Manage Your Money Like the Rich.” It is less than 20 minutes long and worth every minute, especially if you want to make money with your business. (which you do, right?)
4). I know, I know, I talk about Creative Mornings ALL THE TIME but there’s a reason why. Every chapter invites incredible speakers to challenge the creative and entrepreneurial community. Last month, CM San Diego invited Danny Kim to talk about the ways that technology can help or hinder our creative lives.
5). Your work must be for the long-haul. And you have to think farther ahead than your boss or management or client may think they’re after. No NASA mission exemplified that better than Voyager. The documentary, “The Farthest,” is available on Netflix and worth the watch. In addition to talking about the significance of Voyager’s mission, the film also explores the role of the famous Golden Record. Let Voyager inspire you for your next long-haul work.
Enjoy!
P.S. I tried to do these “here’s some cool stuff I found online this week,” sort of posts before. So this kind of a post is nothing new. But what is new is that I am committing to doing these once a week. And, if you’d rather get them delivered to your inbox, sign up for The Memo email blast.
