Movie of the Week 11JAN25
A discord server I am apart of recently hosted a movie night. I suggested two movies, Spaceman (2024) and Made in Heaven (1987). I was fortunate to watch Spaceman Saturday, and had little expectation going in. I really like the way the movie was filmed, and really enjoyed the imagery and story of the movie.
The love story between Jakub and Lenka was the core of the movie, with details about the space mission not taken much prominence. However, the introduction of Hanus was probably the best part, and comes out of left field. For those who were expecting sci-fi heavy space movie may have been disappointed, and I honestly understand the criticism of it. The one thing I had issue with is the way Jakub developed as a character. While the focus is that Jakub is suppose to grow and become less self-centered, there are hints that he really never did. Hanus mentions this when he mentioned how Jakub never really asked Hanus about himself. Maybe the movie suffered a bit from Jakub being a bit unlikable in this regard.
Up Next: I plan on watching one of the two following horror movies with a IRL friend this upcoming weekend: Mandy (2018) or Cracked (2022). I was surprised to hear a work friend had heard of Mandy, and mentioned that it had Nicholas Cage in it, which I completely missed, and will likely pick to watch it for this reason alone lol.
