003: Self-Service Froyo
A frozen yogurt franchise has decided to replace all of their cashiers with a self-serve application. Once an order is placed, a robot will dispense the custom order. Decide what form this app takes—a kiosk? a tablet? mobile app? a hologram?—and design an experience that enables at least the following tasks:
Select flavor for frozen yogurt
Select volume
Select toppings
Price and payment
Now on to last week’s submissions for 002: Smart Habits. Thanks to all who participated! Remember, all entries will be entered in a drawing for a swag box at the end of the month for a Bloc T-Shirt, stickers, and a surprise.

1-3-1 Kanji Flashcard Watch App
1-3-1 Is a memorization technique where after learning a new word, it is optimal to review the word learned after 1min, 3min, 10min, 30min, 1hr, 3hr, 10hr, 30hr etc. etc. up to a year (or even 10) if necessary. With this watch app, new kanji (Japanese word for Chinese characters) currently being studied can be set for review according to the 1-3-1 interval technique. Details like frequency shown, how many kanji to group etc can e set online but is out of the scope of of this challenge.
Screens shown: 1. Loading screen. 2. Level of kanji difficulty. (Levels 1-4 are set by Japanese proficiency test standards.) 3. The current kanji in review. At the top the current interval that the kanji is in is on display. 4. The onyomi (sound reading) of the character. 5. The kunyomi (Japanese reading). 6. The meaning. At the top the next interval that the current kanji will appear.

The "Best Bloc Companion App” Award
Based on the survey results, I thought about Bloc and how it is a place for learning, collaboration, and accountability. I decided to combine the mentorship and collaboration we get from the Bloc program and the Bloc community, along with the popular belief that it takes 21-Days to develop habit.
