Rhys blindly reached for Vaughn as tiny sobs passed his lips. He hated his nightmares. All he wanted to do was bury himself in Vaughn’s arms and cry. So that’s what he did. His breathing stuttered as he tried to sputter and quietly wail what had happened in the dream. He buried his face in the crook of her neck and pressed his face there desperately as if Vaughn would ground him enough to relax. “I ha- hate it.. Hate it. So bad.” He whimpered quietly once the sobbing started to ease.
It was near impossible to get a grip on what Rhys was trying to say to her. But this time…this time she was going to do what she could to make sure Rhys didn’t suffer alone. Though she could barely respond besides just holding him close.
Vaughn’s hands twitching unsurely before just holding tight on their shirt. Keeping them close to her chest and feeling a panicked heart beat against his own.
“It’s okay, Rhys. It’s okay. Just let it out,” patting his back. “You’re alright…just breathe.”
