I made the right choice in the WeePOP! Kickstarter campaign.
The label decided to close its doors, releasing three finals albums from Colin Clary, Let’s Whisper, and One Happy Island. There is a lot of crossover with musicians on these albums: Colin is also a member of Let’s Whisper and Brad San Martin from One Happy Island performs on Colin’s record, Twee Blues.
Though the new album from Burlington, Vermont based musician Colin Clary, Twee Blues, wasn’t officially released until the 13th of May, there were two songs up for preview prior to that. Colin has released as a solo artist in the past and, in addition to Let’s Whisper, is also perhaps best known as a member of The Smittens.
The two songs that were available for preview, “Come Back From the Wilderness” and “Half a Cookie,” are distinctive to Colin’s style, but there is a maturity and progression heard in these tracks when compared to his previous solo works. Colin’s admitted Allman Brothers influence is definitely melded together perfectly with his unique style of pop.
The album artwork and packaging is beautiful, as well. Could that portrait of Colin be any better?
