I love how my first thought wasn't "why are the people running out screaming." But "why the hell is the moon so big and close to the house!?" The special effects make me believe this is trying to mirror the early horror movie years, where they were going over the top scary that is no longer spooky now instead just laughable because of the effects. I don't know why but I could've sworn the trailer made it seem like there was young kids moving into the house, the boys in here look like young men who are probably beyond the age of believing ghost stories. Watching this make it feel like there's three different storylines and it feels like neither story wants to overlap with eachother. You have a story with Kevin trying to help Ernest; the ghost, than we have Frank trying to make a profit from Ernest and finally a plot point of some Doctor trying to capture Ernest. Like, okay their common factor is Ernest but the three storylines just feel like they don't connect with each other. We have a ghost is trying so hard to be other movies that it refuses to show its own identity. First compare it to Casper than to Final Destination to Bad times at El Royale to Misery and several other movies including a production from a themepark.
