18 Easy ways to lose weight for lazy people
Let’s jump right into the lazy weight loss hacks. I bet you will be pleased that most do not involve making huge changes to your daily lifestyle.
STOP DRINKING YOUR CALORIES
Drinking your calories adds weight to you without your knowledge. Sometimes we think we hardly eat or are eating healthy, but our calories are huge from meals. Decrease alcohol, fizzy drinks, milkshakes, etc. Even our beloved smoothie, you have to be careful. Some people load up their smoothies with a thousand calories worth of fruits for breakfast and wonder why they are not losing weight. Substitute your drinks for things like water, green tea, unsweetened ice tea. If you do not like plain water, you can infuse it with fruits or lemons. I sometimes would spike my water with ginger, apple cider vinegar, mint leaves, and lemon juice for some added taste.
USE SMALLER PLATES
Rather than use the usual size dinner plates, try using a dessert or bread plate to serve yourself. Sometimes, we unconsciously fill up our plates because there is space on it, hence we end up eating more. Using a smaller space will solve this problem. When you use a bigger plate, your portion looks small on it, and you may be tempted to add more. A smaller plate will make your portions look larger than they really are. This is a great lazy person diet hack especially when it comes to unhealthy food.
CUT DOWN ON YOUR SUGAR
Reduce your added sugar. Added sugar is one of the worst things ever. So many healthy foods have added sugar in them even when they claim to be healthy. Sugar also makes you feel sluggish and tired. Try limiting your sugar consumption for a few days and see what happens.
BRUSH YOUR TEETH AFTER EATING
Who does not like fresh smelling breath? When you are done eating, brush your teeth. This would usually prevent you from eating more.
FIND WHAT YOU LOVE
Find activities you love doing and stick to them. If you love to dance, go dancing more to stay active. If you love walking around, do that more. Some people love to rock climb, that’s awesome too. Just find a way to stay active that is fun to you and do more of that regularly.
KEEP IT SHORT
Keep your workouts short. Sometimes we force ourselves to do an hour of workout in the beginning and get burned out. Start out slowly till you love it. You can start with fifteen minutes and increase it slowly. You do not have to spend hours in the gym trying to lose weight. It is all about consistency. If you are consistent in your 15minutes workout, you will lose weight. Make your time in the gym count by not wasting time talking or playing on the phone. I wrote a post a while back on how to burn more calories without spending more time in the gym.
EAT SLOWLY AND THOROUGHLY
Another lazy weight-loss hack is to eat slowly and thoroughly. Stop rushing through your meals like you are in a competition. Unless you are in a hurry somewhere, there is no reason to rush your food. Or unless you are sharing your food with a super-fast eater lol. Chew your food slowly and enjoy every bite. This usually prevents you from eating mindlessly and helps your brain process what you are eating. Try counting how many times you chew while you eat. There are studies that have proven that faster eaters are more likely to gain weight than slower eaters.
USE COMMERCIAL BREAKS
When watching tv, use commercial breaks to get active. Commercial breaks usually last about a minute or so. Try doing a few jumping jacks or skip or jog in place, do something active throughout the commercial rather than look for a snack to munch on.
INCREASE YOUR PROTEIN
Consume more proteins with all your meals. They will help keep you fuller longer and build your muscles. Try to get some protein in your breakfast rather than the usual breakfast cereal. A healthy breakfast balanced with proteins will help keep you full rather than starving within minutes. Some examples of protein-rich foods include chicken breasts, salmon, steak, Greek yogurt, lentils, quinoa, and almonds.
DUMP THE UNHEALTHY FOOD
No point buying junk food that will make you gain unwanted weight. When you grocery shop, stay away from unhealthy food or limit the quantities you buy. If you do not see them around you, the less likely you will be to be tempted to eat them. Having them at home will tempt you and lead to weight gain.
