Yes, it is. And a lot of that is being done where I work. I'm especially fascinated by how it affects the brain and it's response to reward. Sadly, it hasn't quite trickled into your standard General Practitioner's office yet. Granted, the last time I saw my doc, she was better about it - spoke with me about my activity and not about weight. I hope that's how she continues to speak with me during check ups but let's face it, my weight isn't "ideal" for my height and age so it's always going to be an issue.
I saw a nurse practitioner today - she was testing range of motion in my arm and did lots of, "okay, I'm going to push (or pull), try not to let me move your arms" and at one point she exclaimed, "wow! you're really strong - look at those muscles!" It was gratifying because often I feel that all they see of me is a lump sitting on the table not doing what they want me to (lose weight).
