Blurred Lines || Self Para
Autumn laughed with Ivy as she left the bar. She didn't really know what she was laughing at or why, all she knew was that she was with her best friend and she was happy. All her problems had been pushed to the side and replaced with alcohol induced happiness. They stumbled into the parking lot together and miraculously made it to the car without falling. In the back of her mind she knew that they probably shouldn't be driving but all those worries were washed away by alcohol.
She stepped into the passenger seat and didn't bother buckling the seat belt, finding it uncomfortable. She laughed as she turned up the volume on the stereo to full blast and danced in her seat. Everything was perfect. This made her not want to return to her sober life, to just stay like this forever. When Autumn was drunk there was no Scott, no Emily, no work, no drama. Just her, alcohol, and whoever made her happy. Ivy started to drive and Autumn giggled as they went over bumps and blew through stop signs. Who needed rules when you were as happy as they were?
"Speed up!" She said, enjoying the air rolling through her hair. She let out a scream of happiness out her window. In this moment, she knew that everything would be okay.
Except that it wasn't
Autumn saw some figure up ahead.. It seemed like an animal or something. "Ives, watch out!" She screamed. When Ivy jerked the wheel Autumn could feel the wheels lock up and knew that the car wasn't going to stop. She felt Ivy slam on the breaks but it was too late. She saw the giant tree that they were heading straight for and knew it was all over. A scream erupted from her throat as everything flashed through her head.
She wanted her sister. She wanted to tell her that she loved her no matter what and that she was the best sister she could ever wish for. Who would edit her articles for her? Who would help her? Emily needed Autumn. In the few seconds that she had she was overcome with guilt, Emily's words ringing through her head You're a bad sister. Autumn believed them now. She believed them with everything she had.
She heard the screech of the breaks and crunching of metal. She looked over at Ivy and wished that she had time to tell her that she was the best friend that she had ever had. That since the day they had met her life had been changed for the better.
As the car folded around the tree and the airbags deployed her whole body felt pain. She didn't know what exactly was injured because everything hurt. Something warm ran down her face and she realized it was blood. She started seeing spots and then Scott. He would never know her feelings for him. He meant a lot to her and she didn't even know why. Even though her feelings were confusing, she wanted him to know. Soon his face disappeared and all was quiet. She was barely awake still, holding on to what she was sure was her last shreds of life.
Finally she saw her parents. How would they handle her loss. She has always been the golden child and she knew it. They loved her, even though they were hard on her. Her father would be devastated, her mother torn. She didn't even have enough energy to think more about it.
The last thing she saw were headlights coming down the road and she heard the scream of the ambulance. Idly she wondered who called them. It was funny the things you thought about when you were dying. Blood. All she could see was blood now. Then nothing. Then she was gone.

Autumn was taken to the hospital, where she lay in a coma. No one knows when or if she will awake. The only thing that is sure is the steady beep of the monitors that are hooked up to her. She is covered in cuts and bruises.
