I appreciate a lot the way that Nona is intellectually disabled. She cannot read, is consistently incapable of matching the intellect of fourteen-year-olds. And yet, Nona navigates the world with no major curtailings of her personal autonomy by her family, aside from the occasional coercive encouragement to eat. Nona is treated with a degree of kindness and respect that is rarely found in the world today regarding intellectually disabled people. Her friends adore her, her family loves her despite the tragic circumstances of their arrangement re: Harrow being unresponsive and Nona’s death being necessitated for Harrow to wake up, her surroundings find a place where she can be active and feel fulfilled while respecting her limits. HOW often do you see an intellectually disabled character be given this level of empathy, of humanization by a narrative?

Okay. Okay you guys seriously. Step on Me by The Cardigans is such a Spaceboy song. Especially this lyric.
I'm gonna ramble for a second about why this is such a captain spaceboy lyric so if you don't feel like reading the thoughts of a mentally unstable lil trauma guy then SCROLL ON BUCKO LMAO
PERSONALLY when I see that lyric I think about how Spaceboy feels about Sweetheart. For pretty much all of Omori, we're told how much Spaceboy loved Sweetheart, and in the hikikomori route, we see more of this in the Space Ex Husband fight. In the Space Ex Husband fight, I'm pretty sure there's this system where Space Ex Husband has certain memories where you can change his emotion afterwards, and a few of the memories include Sweetheart swinging her mace at Spaceboy, and Sweetheart throwing stuff at Spaceboy. So when I see that lyric I think of how Spaceboy lets Sweetheart harm him (squeezing apart his heart) and how that's fine to him (until the Space Ex Husband fight at least)
There's more lyrics from that song that fit my favorite little space pirate goober but I think that lyric specifically is the most Captain Spaceboy lyric from that song.
This analysis was inspired by the very frequent analyses on @lilac-gold because we're both insane <333 hope this good hehehhehe
CW: mentions of the orchird here along with abuse, slavery and other such nasty topics so general TW
Two thing. i realised. One, i would be very easily pulled into a cult holy shit what the fuck
Two, watching other, smarter people deconstruct Lilly and some of her videos and the opinions she puts out there made me realize A- how fucking wild some of them are and how genuinely creepy some of the things she says are
B- Children are deeply fucking impressionable. like holy shit, i was out here for 2 whole years thinking that stephen universe was this racist sexists dogshit show that glorified abuse and used slavery and human traficking as a pinboard because of that one 4 hour stephen universe video.
i don't know how to explain how, but the levels of 'charisma' i shoul say in her videos, where she's constantly insulting or degrading the "other side" when it comes to people who use writing she doesn't like, talking about videos that criticize her either transphobic or written as content mills to earn a paycheck (the video criticizing her writing tips on twitter), and general poisoning of the well she's barely started giving water from is..well it's something alright
and speaking as a former lily enjoyer you wouldn't realize the things she says are wrong. Like granted im a dumbass, i hear peple speaking confidently and authoritatively and my brain just auto defaults to "yeah they sound like they know what they're yapping about" and i cease critical ingestion of their content (Lilly, Lio convoy) and it's only when you take a step back and watch some of the videos critiquing her essays and responses and her in general as a person and i start realsing how fucked up some of the things she says is, from her weird thing about siblings (she adamantly denies likng and wrting incest but well) to her previous writings, to just how she deflects and distraxcts from accusations made against her dubbing people who do make genuine accusations against her either as stalkers, haters or otherwise the victimizer and not the victim.
idk im just talking about somehting i noticed after watching someone else go through her videos and point out some weird shit (shout out to @/Sai on youtube for making me realise this while im watching the latest stream and Oh my god i haven't even talked about the provating of older videos or her preferences changing between videos or just her fundamentally misundertanding a story (and just not watching half the media she's talking aboutfully???)
TLDR; Holy shit Lily's a wild ride that's for sure, if i've ever spouted a take from her accidentally at yoou i apologize, you are indeed entitled to compensation, i'll draw you a lil blorbo.
I'm just thinking about how back in the years from 2017-2019, when I was a mere zygote, I found myself on the weirdest parts of the internet and stayed there for hours. Like, one search on safari (on an iPhone 5) could mean digging through endless pages of forums and blogs from decades ago, websites that were definitely full of viruses, and wiki how articles that didn't quite seem normal. This is without even mentioning the universe of wikis. Now, my average Google search takes 2-6 minutes, 10 tops. I kind of miss the etherial, timeless abyss the internet was before I knew how to use it.
