It may be easy, in some ways, for a human to come to terms with the Wood Bots' tireless search for knowledge throughout the galaxies and dimensions, because we can tell ourselves it's like being a scientist, or being nosy. But it's what they do with their newfound information we haven't been able to fathom. One wonders whether it is knowing for knowings sake. However, we all have heard that the living forestplanet of Ximia from where they emerge functions as a singular consciousness, which could indicate realms of thought inconceivable to our small disassociated brains.
