I was in the middle of mopping the floor, just doing my job, when three people walked by. Since the floor was obviously wet, I warned them politely and professionally, saying something like, “Be careful, the floor is wet. Please don’t slip.”
One of them replied, “Sorry, we’re walking on your wet floor,” which was completely fine; no issue there.
But then her friend suddenly said, “Okay, Mommy.”
At first, I genuinely thought she said, “Okay, Molly,” so I was confused for a moment. Then it clicked, and I was like… wait, what? That comment didn’t match the situation at all. I was just doing my job and trying to keep people safe.
I didn’t react or say anything back. I stayed professional, but the whole interaction threw me off. It was awkward, unnecessary, and honestly just weird.
I still don’t fully understand why she said that, but yeah… that was my strange moment of the day.
