4. Do you prefer writing long or short fics?

short short short all the way. i could not keep an update schedule to save my LIFE and i really enjoy the process of writing when it’s quick and dirty and doesn’t have to be good (especially the all-in-one-sitting fics. i don’t think they’re good but they are fun and that’s what matters!) can you tell my writing background is nano word sprints alksdjf

13. Do you have a favorite character to write for?

an impossible choice! call me predictable i really love writing gorgug, i feel like i’ve gotten comfortable in his voice and he’s like the og pov for dimension 20 fic for me. that being said i’ve recently had a lot of fun writing ricky and he’s definitely the one living in my head the most at the moment! i think a lot of what compels me about ricky is never said out loud in canon and so writing him is fun for that reason!

#i think i tend to think about writing characters' voices similarly to the way that brennan lee mulligan describes switching between characte #like to write gorgug i set the default reaction to things to confusion #turn up the kindness #it's maybe a little ooc but i write gorgug very flustered a lot of the time at least internally #lots of fidgeting #when i switch to writing-ricky brain it's #he's always thinking about esther at least a little bit #the confusion is still there but where gorgug would ask a question about it #ricky just goes #'cool. i don't one hundred percent get it but that sounds cool.'#weirdly though #both characters are asian in my head (obviously)#but the japanese american experience #especially not growing up where ricky grew up #is not my experience #so i think i tend to give ricky the like #surface level stuff #the ways his parents love him #eating ramen #frowning at cody's weeb bullshit #whereas gorgug gets all my more deepseated stuff about asian americanness/diaspora feels #and not the surface stuff #idk i am honestly working on writing both of them more #openly proudly unmistakably the way they live in my head #but it's interesting how it shakes out #like i love zac oyama's characters in and of themselves #but also hot dummy is just such a fun headspace to write from #whew i got carried away #ANYWAY #thanks for the ask!! <3

Im currently rereading the imperial radch series and what the fuck was I doing the first time I read this????? I don't remember or only partly remember or remember completely wrongly 70% of these books

#This happens to me sometimes #I'll 'skim read' a book and take nothing in at all #And then go 'yeah I don't remember anything about that book' after I finish #Im way better now than I used to be #Weirdly though #Not much slower!!!

Off for good times with my asshole cousin, who's visiting my mom for reasons unknown. He's never gone out of his way to see her before; OTOH, I think he's pretty much drained my aunt's bank account of everything he can get his hands on. I'd love to see him try with my mother, though.
