a/n: there are two endings to this story but none of them is the "main" or "alternate" ending. you can choose which one is the real universe or not. i think it's more fun that way (despite the pairing suggesting otherwise shhhh).
you were waiting in nervous anticipation, wondering what was so important for jisung to say that he had to drop by.
when you hear the doorbell ring, your soul almost jumps off your body because you’ve been waiting in front of your door ever since he said he was almost close by. “hey!” you greet enthusiastically when you open the door for him, trying to mask the uncertainty in your veins.
but you couldn’t calm yourself—not when you see jisung standing in front of you looking like he’s worth a million bucks (truth be told, he probably is).
“sorry, i’m a bit late. had to take care of some family stuff,” he says when he steps inside, a bit reserved.
“oh, is that why you’re all dressed up?” you try to make conversation, anything to get your mind off the fact that han jisung is in front of you wearing an armani suit with his hair swept back. he looked good in the pictures, but seeing him like this in person felt much more striking.
especially since you were so used to jisung always swallowed by hoodies, wearing a mask, and hidden behind his long bangs. quite frankly, it feels different being able to see his face in its entirety.
no wonder the campus girls suddenly went crazy for him because of his new look.
“yeah,” he answers simply, which snaps you out of your thoughts. you feel your cheeks heat up in embarrassment, as if being caught checking him out—but you’re sure that he didn’t notice.
“so um… what can i do for you?” you ask right away when you’ve done nothing but stand in front of each other, a few inches past your door. after asking the question, you feel a sudden shyness creep up into jisung’s demeanor.
although he bravely came here to (hopefully) confess, he couldn’t believe his own stupidity would actually take him this far. however, high risks come with high rewards.
he didn’t spend his life being brutally honest with everyone only to chicken out when it matters the most. so, with a long breath and a heavy exhale, he looks at you straight in the eyes—a look that almost turns your legs into jelly.
“i like you.”
you almost choke on air after the bold expression, you couldn’t even respond right away. “e-excuse me?” you ask with wide eyes.
immediately, jisung takes both of your hands in his, hoping to calm your nerves before he continues the confession, “i know we haven’t known each other that long and i know you might feel weird about it, especially since you’ve probably only been treating me as a friend—but i think i know myself enough that these feelings are real.”
you weren’t the one confessing so why were you the one feeling ashamed? you couldn’t do anything but stare at him with his mouth agape.
sure, you never really thought of jisung in that way, but that doesn’t mean you couldn’t. in fact, you’ve noticed that you’ve been hyper aware of jisung lately.
always yearning for his company, always wanting to dig deeper into the reserved man.
furthermore, you feel goosebumps spread across your arms when he brings your hands to his lips, kissing them gently. a surprising gesture, but a welcome one. despite still being in shock, you don’t pull away.
so, jisung welcomes himself in your proximity. barely a few inches apart with his breath lightly touching your face. this forces you to look into his eyes where he holds the stars within them.
“meeting you became one of the biggest highlights of my life. i was scared to let people in but you somehow managed to get through my walls and make me feel something new—you’re like the sun, in a way. you make my day better but i found it hard to look directly into you. up until now, i’m still scared of flying too close to the sun, but if it’s you, then maybe i can.”
you don’t think you’ve ever heard sweeter words from someone else. you’re tempted to kiss him, you really are—but you weren’t sure jisung would already be comfortable with such a gesture.
so, you just grip his hands gently and look back at him with the same fondness, “i think i want to try too.”
