A new start. A new life. A totally new part of the country -- the great northwest. So far away from her past that maybe she could finally relax and begin anew. The last thing she needed was reminders of that awful time before her death.
Seemed fate had another plan.
It had started out innocently enough with an errand. The only thing she had kept from her old life was the urn that housed her father. Because of how he had died, and because she was not there to give instructions, he’d been cremated to save The Company money. And of course they used the cheapest urn there was. Blood boiled whenever she set eyes on it. So now it was time to upgrade this urn. One less reminder of the past.
Shady Plots. The name amused her for some reason and it was close by, so might as well see if they sold urns. Out of habit, she attempted to be silent as she opened the door to peek inside. It was quiet. Too quiet. Blue eyes glanced around to find a guy sitting at a desk working. She blinked a few times as eyes narrowed in concentration and confusion. He looked familiar. More blinking. No way.
Daddy had forbidden her from talking to him... but daddy wasn’t there. Well, technically he was, but he sure as hell couldn’t do anything about it from that urn. With a deep breath, Elle stood up straight, shoulders back, and marched right over to him, heels clicking confidently with each step. Now, any normal person would timidly start asking questions, and not assuming...
“Adam, why aren’t you dead?” she began in a how dare you tone, her hands on the table as she leaned over to invade his personal space to get a closer look. “And what’d you do to your hair? I like it... but that’s beside the point! I thought you were dead! Peter thinks you’re dead. What happened? I would have tried to find you if I knew...” Voice softened at that last sentence. Freshly manicured nails drummed along the table as big eyes stared at him for answers.
