Hey, anyone remember Welephant?
So this week has been terrible weather-wise in Helsinki, but we are still pushing on.
Sherizan & Iman are still working hard on the app and making real advances. The basic flow for buyers and sellers have been completed, the majority of the screens have been made, and now it has been passed on so it's just a waiting game while Iman does all the back end work.
In the meantime I've been doing the boring business stuff, like calculating scenarios, updating our business model, and more importantly bugging the guys trying to convince them (mainly Sherizan) that we should probably put some ads in there one day!
Progress!
So today we had our first meeting in a while. Me (Khaled), Niina and Sherizan made our way to a cafe in the city and spent the afternoon going through ideas over coffee and pastries.
We had a great time and Sherizan showed us the beautiful screens he has made so far, which should be uploaded here soon! We were even able to make more solid decisions on which features will be available on the app.
So far our priorities right now, in terms of features, are:
Chat, the ability to send private messages to sellers
Comments on listings and mentions
Location Services, so that users are able to sort items by distance
Profiles, Users will be able to have their own profile and follow others
Payments through the app - via PayPal
Hello!
The idea of starting a company arose in November 2013 at the Helsinki Startup Weekend II event. The original idea was to create a service that would help people sell good that they no longer needed and that might be of use to somebody else. A group formed to further develop the idea.
We worked long hours over the weekend figuring out the details of our idea and plan. How can we make our service meet the needs of people in the best possible way? The task was not easy because there were many good options on the table. Despite the difficulties, we ended up with a business plan which we presented to the judges on Sunday night. Unfortunately, we didn't win the competition, but in our opinion the plan was great! So we decided to proceed with the development of our business plan.
This blog has been set up as a kind of diary. We want to document the steps in the establishment of our company , and to bring them to the attention of our followers as well as possible. We also want to examine the phenomena related to the recycling of goods, and to bring them up on this blog. We hope that our blog would benefit others as well as ourselves.
Sincerely, The White Elephant Team
