To say the end of school rush was a little busy would’ve made a good candidate for the annual Understatement of the Year Awards. Both he and Otogi had been going nonstop for the last several hours, and people, specifically other freshly graduated teens, just kept coming. The closest thing to a break either had managed was the one time Otogi had pulled him aside briefly just to inform him that they’d run out of fruit tarts and--to his horror--cream puffs.

And then... it died. Security did their best to usher the last few stragglers from their seats in their usual closing time routine, and Ryou made a point of ignoring their warbling cries of “Bakura-kun, save us!” As soon as they were out of sight, he all but collapsed on one of the chairs, head landing on his crossed arms with a muted thud. He had another shift here tomorrow, didn’t he? Oh...

Some time passed before he managed to pick himself up to continue with their closing duties. Tables cleaned, chairs propped on top of them, floor swept... Otogi usually took care of anything involving the actual kitchen, thankfully.

“See you tomorrow, Otogi-kun.” The usual polite lilt he would throw onto his phrases was noticeably absent; he was far too drained to care, and the two were close enough for him to be willing to drop the facade when needed. And oh, was it needed now. As he wandered away in a haze, he absently wondered if he looked as undead as he felt. Probably.
