Imagine Gadreel talking to you until you fall asleep

You shift onto your side, pulling yourself closer to Gadreel. He sits motionless, gently pressing his hand over your head. His body, warm and solid, makes you feel secure. As his fingers graze over your head, sleepiness begins to take over. 

“Gadreel,” you whisper, and he hums in return, turning his eyes down to you. “I just wanna hear your voice. Say anything.”

“Would you like to hear a poem?” he asks. You nod lazily, nuzzling closer to him. “It is one that my brother used to tell me on restless nights,” he says, clearing his throat. “Gentle dreamer, whose eyes won't dare to shut, with the stars as your blanket and the moon as your pillow, prepare for slumber.” He pauses, inhaling and pressing a kiss against your forehead. “Are your eyelids not aching? Do they not beg to drop? Hush now, gentle dreamer, I beg you to sleep.” Again, he presses a kiss on your forehead, humming. “Gentle dreamer, whose eyes dare not shut, I’ll lay with you until, finally, you’ll sleep,” he whispers. You smile to yourself, your eyes falling shut. 

“That was nice. Who used to tell you that?” you ask. He goes silent, rubbing his hand down your back. Finally, he chuckles gently, waving his hand and making the blanket fall over your form.

“Lucifer, before he fell,” Gadreel says, staring up at the ceiling. “Of course, those were different days.”
