Hey bibliomom. it's been a rough couple months, and if you have the spoons and/or inclination it'd be really really nice to have some affirmation that being ace means I'm included in the queer community. For some reason one of my fav new fandoms seems to be made up of like 80% ace exclusionists and it's been exhausting trying to filter them out of the content I consume. Every new search on a fanart blog that reveals "lmao cishets aren't lgbt" or "asexy mogai cringe" feels like a punch to the gut
Oh, ew :( I’m so sorry your fandom is filled with those toxic people *hugs*
Speaking as a greedy bisexual who just needs to pick a side but is actually Straight™ because I’m married to a man (HA!)—welcome to the queer community. You’ve always belonged.
There will be those who argue and go out of their way to be excessively mean to try and prove you don’t belong, but those people are wrong and need to take a long hard look at themselves, deal with their internalized hatred and then make some profound apologies.
Exclusionists will always be found on the wrong side of history in the end.
And if anyone takes issue with any of this, you can either reflect on this and change the way you think, or you can leave. Anyone starting shit in my comments or in my inbox will be immediately deleted and blocked. Your hatred isn’t welcome here.
As for filtering these people out, @weresehlat, I dunno what tools you are using, but I find the xkit mass filtering option to be really great. It searches for keywords I don’t want to see and filters out ANY post that contains it. It’s reduced my stress levels of tumblr immensely. Doesn’t work for mobile of course, but it’s something.
