I was offered a random day off due to an over staffing mistake and took it. I decided to have fun with the pets. I got all ready for work like I normally would and they did their usual job of trying to persuade me not to go and I made a dramatic show of letting them win. Thank you a lot for your meticulous work <3 One question: you mention quite often that fat might provide some kind of resistance towards common 'old age' diseases. Have you found anything on osteopenia/osteoporosis for instance? If so, do fat women post menopause enjoy the same benefits on those conditions from exercising as thin women?

Since weight-bearing exercise is an important protective factor against bone loss, particularly in older age, you won’t be surprised to learn that being fat (aka doing weight-bearing exercise all the damn time!) is also a protective factor against bone loss in older age. No extra exercise regimen required!

Fat people have higher bone mass than thinner people. We are also less prone to debilitating bone fractures in older age, in part because our bones are stronger and in part because our fat cushions the fall! lol

It is also worth noting that weight loss and weight cycling in older age also predict bone loss, so the bone health benefits of being fat are lost when people diet to lose weight. 

So add “bone loss and increased risk of fractures in old age” to the growing list of reasons why intentional weight loss and restrictive dieting are unhealthy, especially for older people.
