Wally was always warned about going into the forest during a full moon, the forest was werewolf territory. Werewolves were dangerous. Werewolves killed. His father said fae were safer far away from that.
Wally knew he should’ve stayed away from the forest, he should run away, but the man in front of him - no, the wolf in front of him - didn’t look dangerous. He didn’t look like a killer. He was hurt, covered in scratches, covered in blood. The wolf was on his knees, scared, and looking straight at Wally. His eyes flickered between yellow and blue, sharp and then soft. Frightened.
Wally knew his father would be mad, could already see the frown and hear the disappointment in his father’s voice, but he also knew he couldn’t leave this wolf here alone. He couldn’t leave him to die.
“Hi.” Wally said gently, approaching the wolf slowly. “I’m Wally, what’s your name?”
“Nate.” The wolf answered, eyeing Wally with distrust. “You’re fae. What do you want?”
“To help you. You’re hurt.” Wally answered, dropping down to Nate’s eye level.
“Fae don’t help, they lie.” Nate shook his head, looking at his bloodied hands. “Fae are tricksters.”
“Funny.” Wally said, taking off his jumper and pressing it to the wolf’s side.
Nate hissed at the pressure, and Wally tried to ignore the shiver in his spine. He didn’t know if it was the chilly air of midnight, the blood, or how those yellow/blue eyes seemed to bore into his own brown ones.
“I was told werewolves were dangerous - killers - but you don’t look like a killer to me. I suppose both of us have been lied to.”
