A hurricane had just ripped straight through the atmosphere of the Pack's sitting room and yet, everyone was stunned into silence, it was an eerie thing that made Tia want to slunk back to Yeosang's side. She didn't need to, however, because he came to her, despite the seriousness of Suki's word and the weight they carried for the pack she smiled when she felt the contact of Yeosang's hand on her lower back, his fingers trailing across to grip her waist.
"Are you sure, Girl?" Akemi heaved the words with effort as she steadied herself back on her feet, throwing a quick nod of gratitude to the Beta who had kept her standing.
Suki sighed, a sorrowful sound that had Wooyoung tightening his grip around her, he continued to brush his thumb along the back of her neck while she nodded avoiding everyone's gazes.
She hadn't told anyone, not even Wooyoung, what she had truly endured at the hands of that horrible specimen of a man. Suki shifted uncomfortably when her skin crawled at the memories from the cold days and nights spent in that lab.
Body freezing despite Wooyoung's arms wrapped around her rigid frame, she cast her eyes up to the Alpha who still knelt at her side.
"Suk how do you know him?" Yeosang asked softly, worry for his sister built with every second that passed as she sat silent.
"Suki, how do you know that man?" Wooyoung repeated, turning her in his lap ever so slightly so he could get a better view of her face. It dropped in expression, it made his heart ache inside him.
"I─" a lump barricaded the words from making it to her lips, attempting to swallow the blockage she began to cry when the worst of those memories came flooding back, she had buried them long ago─ or so she had thought. Both Tia and Wooyoung gave Suki gestures of encouragement, gripping her pinky tightly and rubbing circles into her back.
"He was the man who was incharge of my...care... while I was in the hunter compound" the oxygen from the air dropped as everyone seemingly held their breath, including Denah. Her mind was groggy but she understood the meaning of the emotion behind Suki's words.
When Akemi had shared her memories of the man with the female shifter, she had seen some of Suki's memories in return. The girl in the images was young but undeniably it was Suki, at a very young age. The little girl's screams had cracked through her mind like thunder, her tiny body's futile attempts to break free from the restraint typing her to the medical bed. The needles, knives and other tools used in the name of medical science aligned perfectly on a small metal table. Denah fought with the bile rising up the back of her throat, Suki's mental battles reappearing in her head, how the other female did that for years, day after day without letting others in on her secret, amazed Denah, She struggled at the hands of her fellow Witch student. The she wolf was a true warrior in disguise of a sarcastic female werewolf.
"I'll kill him. '' Wooyoung growled and started to back away from Suki, she panicked instantly, gripping his arm for life, shaking her head rapidly from side to side in a desperate attempt to keep him with her.
He took her in his arms, when she flattened her face into his chest. it scared the others to see Suki like this, it scared Wooyoung to see her like this. Suki was one of the loudest and happiest people they knew. To see her weak and upset like this triggered something within the adults of the Pack─ not just their kids,
"We double up our patrols” The Alpha said in a dark tone, he would be damned if he was going to let the man anywhere near his family again. He met his son's gaze,
"Hongjoong take them through to your lounge, we will all take the first patrols today"
The Alpha turned to his best friend and Beta, "I'll go get the Luna" Seonghwa's father spoke in understanding, leaving the room in search of the female.
The older group of friends made their ways out the room, ignoring the looks coming from their children, Akemi following them out. The Alpha walked up to his son, taking Hongjoong by the shoulder.
"I need you to hold up the fort here for the night, can you do that son?" Hongjoong didn't dare break eye contact with his father, nodding without words spoken he embraced the feeling of the contact coming from his dad's hand on his shoulder.
A spark of the Alpha wolf appeared in his father's eyes as he brought a hand up to clasp the side of Hongjoong's face, taking in every minute detail of his son's face.
"You really are growing up" he uttered under his breath, Hongjoong frowned at his parental. He didn't entirely understand where the comment had come from but before he could ask his father was uttering him away.
"Go. If something happens keep each other safe"
All the adults of the Pack were gone within the next few seconds, Hongjoong tried to mask his worry for his family as he turned back to his friends. His fathers reaction to Suki's information didn't sit right with him, something was bugging his father and he couldn't tell what it was. It was immensely frustrating.
The others were all looking at him with expecting eyes, he had been raised as the Alpha's son but by no means was he used to being in charge, Suki still had her head in her finances chest while Denah looked a little more alive then she had a few minutes before.
Seonghwa had picked up on the slight discomfort of Hongjoong, gesturing for Yeosang and Tia to get up and to follow his lead, Wooyoung watched them before helping Suki to her feet.
"Lean on me if you need to" he whispered into her temple, aiding her in walking the short distance to their lounge.
Hongjoong nodded gratefully at the older boy as the others followed him through. Mingi was hesitant, glancing at Yunho who was still at Denah's side. Hongjoong took hold of the other boy's arm, a silent request for Mingi to follow him out.
It left Yunho and Denah alone, She was finally regaining the rest of her senses,
a hand was gripping hers.
Turning to her side she spotted the wide soft eyes of Yunho, watching her with concern so pure it moved something within her.
"Are you okay?" he asked. His lips, they mouthed the words coming out of him, but they were also a lot closer to her then she expected. He was a lot closer to her than she expected. But...
There was comfort in his contact.
Denah had no idea where her words had gone but they certainly weren't here, nodding she forced her eyes to look away in hope it would delay the heat building between her legs.
"Can you walk?"
She nodded once more, pushing weight through her feet as she rose from the seat, wobbling, Denah gasped when a pair of hands clasped her sides. Head spinning in his direction, she met the glowing colours of yellow and orange, a swirl of pattern so intricate she wanted to stare into them for ages, just to follow the streams of colour.
The hand's unwinded from around her as Yunho took a step back, the faint outline of a nerve pulsing from his forehead was the only visible struggle he took on from pulling himself from her.
"This way"
She didn't understand what it was about this Wolf, watching from behind him as he led her to the lounge room Denah took the time to scurrage through her thoughts, and they were a mess.
Some recognition inside her shifted when she was near him, but there was some kind of rough edge about him she couldn't quite place her finger on, the energy around him had changed since their first meeting. Before he had a light that aired out energy to him, but now...
Something about his physique seemed tense around her now. Had she done something wrong?
Yunho's shoulder bunched together under the material of his shirt as he pushed both his palms into a closed over door. Wandering into the Lounge of the pack house where the youngsters like to hang out was a weird atmosphere, one which Denah picked up upon almost instantly.
The room's once excited electric feeling was now long gone, replaced by one of grey and soft sniffles coming from a hunched female figure, layed in the lap of her mate and Fiancee. Her brothers scattered around the room, all downcasting their gazes to the floor as they listened to their sister work through her pain in the arms of Wooyoung.
Mingi spotted the two of them as they stepped into the room, Yunho led Denah down, gesturing to one of the seats, she sat watching Suki with narrowed worried eyes.
Wooyoung tightened his arms around his mate, pulling her body back towards his, his almost protective expression casting up and down Suki's body.
The world around Denah was flipped so quickly on its axis that she momentarily forgot how to breathe, just what had she missed in her ten years whilst at the Training Coven? What hadn't she had the chance to experience, the idea made her sick with possibilities.
She hadn't even known this group of creatures for more than a few days and already she found herself unwilling to leave, they showed pure and genuine love and care for one another, and it was the one thing Denah had been deprived of at the Training Coven. They are also the closest thing she had to her family in over ten years.
She found herself growing increasingly worried for their safety when she thought of putting them in harm's way, by leading the rogues here.
"Will they be okay?"
The Werewolves, including Tia and a sniffling Suki fell silent, looking to the Witch
"You're parents, will they be okay, out searching for the rogues? Isn't it too dangerous?"
Someone huffed from the connecting bar area, a chair scrapped against the floor, the legs screaming.
"What? Because we're Werewolves we aren't as powerful as you Witches?"
Every head snapped in the direction of Hongjoong, his features were pulled into one of anger, he glared at Denah from across the room and she instantly felt herself sink back into her chair, from shame of the Young future Alpha. He wasn't one yet, but he would be and he carried his fathers blood in his veins, making him more than powerful enough to take on his father right now for the position of Alpha─but only if he wanted to.
"That's not wha-"
"So what, you don't think our parents know how to defend themselves is that it?" Hongjoong's eyes glew an reddish orange as he started towards her.
The room cracked into seriousness as the young future Alpha barged towards Denah, the other boys preparing themselves to do...
What, they didn't know.
Hongjoong was stopped by Seonghwa before he could reach Denah, a look of almost as dark as death plastered the older Wolves face. Hongjoong ignored the older gaze at first, until Seonghwa constricted his grip on Hongjoong arm so tightly that it demanded attention.
"You're not going to do anything to her" He said slowly, stepping in front of Hongjoong to block his view of Denah. He met his friends eyes, they shone just as bright as his, if not brighter.
Hongjoong didn't miss the flick of Seonghwa's line of focus to something over his shoulder. Something in Seonghwa's expression had him turning to check on what he was looking at.
Yunho was next to the bar, patches of darkness shadowing his face as he tightly gripped the sides of the counter top, his shoulder bunched, leaning his weight into it.
Muscles seemed to tense under his skin, like ice freezing inside a bottle, he was breathing heavier then he usually would, causing Hongjoong to turn back to Seonghwa.
No words were passed between them, but a nod was, an agreement and understanding which only the two of them understood.
"I'm just going to go to bed," Denah said, rising from her chair.
When no one rejected the idea she nodded, walking from the room. and that was it, the two oldest spun on Yunho.
Suki was sitting up now, the other boys watching from around the longue as Seonghwa and Hongjoong stormed across the room to the Delta's son.
Hongjoong slammed his hands onto the counter in front of Yunho causing the other boy to sharply look up, expectantly at them.
"Right, What's wrong?"
Yunho frowned with obvious effort etching through his features. Shaking his head. "I don't know what you guys are talking about" his eyes flicked between the two of them.
Seonghwa looked to Hongjoong, waiting for him to do something first. Mingi had now appeared next to them, watching Yunho closely.
Yunho pushed off from the counter with his arms, folded them across his chest. Inhaling his breath hitched in his throat when he smelt the lingering scent of Denah and her magic. Which hung like smoke, a scent which buzzed in the air and made his tongue tingling.
An ache built from deep within and he bit into his lip, drawing blood in an attempt to suppress the groan building at the back of his throat.
"Yunho, is it your..." Jongho asked from across the room, leant onto the back of the couch Suki and Wooyoung were still sitting on, watching over the hump of the couch’s back.
Hongjoong gasped in realisation that seemed to resonate through them all, stepping up to the bar counter he leaned in Yunho's direction.
Panic battered through the taller man's chest, if it was what Jongho was suggesting it would explain his sudden unnatural reactions. The hot flushes, uncalled for anger, the reaction to Denah.
No, it couldn't be, he refused to be the first of them to get it.
"No absolutely not"
He had started to walk out the lounge, ignoring the protest coming from his pack brothers and sister, Suki seemingly forgetting all about the man from the compound as soon as Jongho spoke up.
"Yunho!" Mingi called out, watching as Yeosang tried to get in front of and stop Yunho from leaving,
He shook the smaller male's hands off, pushing Yeosang out the way, Leaving the lounge in a cloud fueled by confusion, panic and denial.
Tia appeared at Yeosang's side, rubbing the forearm of her mate. She couldn't be more confused even if she tried,
"What is it? what's wrong with him?" she asked, looking around each of the Fedora Pack siblings in hope she may somehow find the answer she seeks in their expressions.
Genre/warnings: werewolf au, halloween au???, drabble, just a lot of fluff
Word count: 996
Summary: It’s October so you want to try to watch scary movies to get into the spirit, but man, do you hate scary movies. Good thing your boyfriend is always around to protect you.
a/n: yes this was also inspired by @dearmingki‘s beautiful edit (this one right here officer). yes i have a problem. ALSO this contains spoilers for the movie ‘lights out’ so if u care about spoilers, maybe don’t read it. but it’s also an old movie so idk why anybody cares sdkfhsdk
“It’s the second of Halloween!”
Your excited statement made Yunho laugh, turning to face you where he stood at the stove trying to make lunch, “Did you mean October second?”
You shook your head, insisting, “Second day of Halloween.”
He nodded with an amused smile, his attention fully on you instead of the frying pan now, “Okay, and what does that mean?”
“It means we have to start getting in the Halloween spirit! I’m talkin’ decorations, playing Spooky Scary Skeletons on repeat, scary movies -- the whole nine yards!”
Your boyfriend raised an eyebrow, his golden eyes shining as he folded his arms across his chest, “Aren’t you afraid of scary movies, _____?”
“Well...” you mumbled, fiddling with your fingers, “I mean...sometimes...”
“All the time.”
You just scrunched your nose at him in response, making him chuckle. But instead of fighting you, he turned back to the food, asking over his shoulder, “What movie did you have in mind?”
“I heard The Conjuring series is good,” you recalled. “Like, Annabelle and stuff. I kinda wanna see Lights Out, though. I don’t think I’m ready for ‘based on a true story’ things.”
Yunho smirked playfully as he looked at you over his shoulder, “How do you know it’s not based off a true story?”
“Yunho!” you whined, whacking his arm, earning a loud laugh from him.
“Don’t worry, honey,” he said with a reassuring smile, turning to press a kiss to the top of your head, “I’ll keep you safe.”
-
After you both ate dinner and picked out a movie, you decided to make a blanket fort to really make everything feel cozy before you started watching the movie. Yunho helped you put blankets over kitchen chairs before stuffing pillows and more blankets underneath to create a comfy nest. Then he went around and closed all the blinds and turned off the lights while you turned the movie on. Then he joined you under the fort, laying on his stomach beside you.
“Are you really sure about this, _____?” he asked, looking up at you.
“Of course I am,” you said way more confidently than you thought you would.
He chuckled, turning back to the TV, “Well I’m here if you need comforting.”
“It’s not real,” you told him, though you were mostly telling yourself. “I’ll be fine.”
But that was a big fat lie, and you were not fine.
About halfway through the movie when it was revealed that the monster lady named Diana appeared only in darkness, you were frantically begging Yunho to turn the lights on, clutching a pillow to your chest so tightly that your boyfriend was worried it would explode or something. He sat up and brought you to sit between his legs, wrapping himself around you. Somehow, feeling the immense warmth he radiated and hearing his heartbeat definitely calmed you. But you knew it had something to do with being his mate having that effect on you.
You managed to make it through the movie with Yunho whispering reassuring things in your ear, and covering your eyes or ears when needed. Even if he was afraid, he didn’t show it. His instincts to protect you and make sure you were okay were too strong for him to be scared over a movie. Besides, he was a werewolf. He could kill anything and anyone if he wanted to.
Then again, Yunho was more like a puppy than a werewolf, at least in his human form.
“Have you gotten that out of your system for the rest of the month?” he wondered as the credits rolled.
You could only manage to nod. You never wanted to even think about watching another scary movie again. You remembered why you hated them to begin with.
You were fine as soon as the blinds were opened to let the sunlight back in. You helped Yunho clean up the fort before sitting on the couch to watch TV together. But once Yunho said a single word, you were back to scared mode.
“Bedtime,” he declared as he turned off the TV.
With wide eyes, you looked at your boyfriend, “What? Now? A-already?”
“It’s 11 o’clock, _____,” he chuckled as he stood up from the couch. “Honey, you’re not still scared, are you?”
A small pout formed on your face, “N-no...”
He let out a sigh, but the smile on his face was pure amusement as he held out his hand, “_____, Diana isn’t real.”
“But another weird monster could be in the darkness!” you insisted as you took his hand and let him help you up and lead you to your shared bedroom.
“There aren’t any,” he promised as he closed the door behind you and led you straight to the bed -- he could clearly see clearly in the dark, but you had to just let him lead you. You were hugging his arm tightly, afraid that a Diana-like monster was lurking in the dark somewhere, “but if there are, I can easily protect you. I’ll see them and they won’t even know it.”
“No offense, Yunho,” you began as he helped you into bed, “but you’re not the most menacing person.”
You couldn’t see his expression in the dark, but you felt him boop your nose, and you gasped which made him laugh loudly. He didn’t expect just that to spook you.
“I’m sorry,” he giggled. “Would you feel safer if I shifted?”
You shrugged a little, “Maybe...”
You heard the familiar sound of him shifting before the bed dipped beside you. Feeling his warm fur against you, you scooted closer to him and let him curl his body around you like a big, soft, comfy nest. You rested your head against his shoulder and let your eyes close.
“Thanks, Yunho,” you told him quietly.
He let out a soft rumble in reply.
“I love you.”
In his chest, you heard a deep, quiet purr, and that’s the sound that lulled you to sleep.

"Are you sure this is a good idea?" Seonghwa's father whispered into Akemi's ear as she positioned herself between the two males once more, she looked at him unblinking, "You must understand I was taught to do everything with a purpose Mr Park" She turned so both males were looking at her side profile, a tight smile etched onto her lips, "Trust me─" Her eyes darkened slightly"─I know what I'm doing"
Both men looked at each other, nodding as they watched Akemi gestured towards the Witchling still standing by herself, scratching at a singular spot on her forearm.
"Girls, would you?"
Tia stepped away from her tucked position against Yeosang's side, he watched her as she walked away from him, Suki walked beside her in wolf form, without stopping Suki shifted back into her human form, sporting a wide toothy grin.
Denah stiffened when the two stopped in front of her, they were both smiling. She curled her shoulders in like wet paper, the smiles were welcoming in their own way but she didn't know how to react, she wasn't used to being shown affection by anyone other than Mentor Amina, let alone people her own age.
The thought of what could have happened to Mentor Amina made her chest hurt something awful, like someone had slammed their fist into her chest and ripped out a chunk.
The two figures in front of her moved, going through the motion Denah followed on, keeping a fair distance between herself and the two girls. She kept her eyes trained to the ground as they walked but for some inhuman reason she had the urge to look back, glancing back to the group over her shoulder Denah caught the gaze of the tall Werewolf who had stood in between her and the other wolves.
Everyone around him was turning away to go back to their own business or talk to one another, but he was just standing, watching her.
The air hitched in her throat, something about the way he was looking at her just made her knees feel unstable beneath her. She no longer found herself trusting them to hold her up, he didn't blink and when he smiled, heat pooled in a lower part of her and she panicked.
Fuck
Spinning around Denah bit down into her lower lip, tightly shutting her eyes.
Calm the actual fuck down. She prattled to herself in her head. A breath of air shivered out of her while she nipped the skin on her forearm.
The pack house seemed a lot less scary now that she was entering in on her own accord, the architect was built up on foundations of grey stone blocks each around the size of a car wheel.
The female shifter jumped up and down, but Denah didn't miss the small limp in her step. A flash of guilt struck her in the chest as she watched the other girl move. She had done that, her magic had done that. Pure outer body panic had gripped her in that moment and her blood had reacted, and the result was the female shifter's limp.
"I'm sorry about throwing you into the wall before" She uttered out, clasping her hand around the tense muscle of her forearm, tugging the arm closer to her side when the other two females turned to look at her. She suddenly feels rather small when the two figures stay silent as they continue walking up the steps to the front entrance.
"It's totally fine," the female shifter waved a hand in her direction, "I totally understand you were scared and on the defence, I don't blame you"
Those words…
I don't blame you
No one had ever said that to her and actually meant it. Darian, her eldest brother had said that to her once, she had unintentionally hurt him with her magic, Denah was only young then but could still remember crying herself to sleep hidden under an impressive mountain of blankets, two of her other brothers had sat outside her room that night. The reminder of her family made her stomach ache, she didn't know where they were now. She had run from her family after she…
Her hands trembled at her side and she curled her fingers into a tight fist, did they miss her? Were they even alive after what she did?
Safe
Denah spun when a voice bristled in her mind, she only caught a glimpse of the lands outside before the door shut closed in her face. Shaking out her shoulder and taking in a deep breath she went back to following the two other girls as the ventured up a set of stairs,
"I'm Suki, this is Tia by the way" The female shifter said back to her, Denah nodded and a solid minute of silence passed before she realised they were waiting for her name.
"I'm Denah"
A feeling of satisfaction flowed from the two girls, Denah could feel the warmth pulsing from their bodies. It calmed her, there was nothing off about these two, despite them being involved with the supernaturals world, they were just two normal teenage girls.
I wonder if I pass the requirements for being a normal teenage girl.
Suki stops outside a door, saying something quickly to Tia and the human walks off down the hallway. Suki stares and studies her for a second, clasping her hands together in front of her,
"You can stay in here," she grabs the door handle and swings the door open, "There is a bathroom inside you can wash up if you wish and Tia is going to bring you some clothes to wear"
Denah only manages a small nod, and a weak thank you as she walks past Suki. She is wowed by the interior of the room when she walks in, Suki doesn't stay, shutting the door behind her she leaves Denah in the loud silence of the room.
The bed is covered by a deep purple duvet with pillows that look so full Denah can't even remember what her previous bed even looked like. The room looks far more expensive than any room she had ever been in before. The lights hanging from the ceiling looked made of gold as they shone soft light down onto her face.
Breathing softly in wonder, Denah padded her way through to the bathroom located by a small door at the back of the room, Flicking a small switch on the wall, bright lights snapped to life in the porcelain room.
Everything looked like snow and made of crystals, the sink and toilet sparkled in the gaze of the small lights built into the ceiling. The bathroom alone was bigger than her room back at her parent's house.
She walked towards the shower and began peeling her little amount of clothing off her body, looking down at her battered skin she concluded─she definitely needed a shower.
Dropping her clothing into a pile outside the shower door she slid the glass back and stepped in. There was a complicated system of silver handles on the wall, one of them surely was to switch the water on.
Grabbing the one in the middle Denah yelped aloud when she was blasted with a strong force of water, it harshly hit her skin like small bullets slamming her hand against the handle quickly she finally breathed again when her attack stopped and water dripped from the untamed strands of her now soaked hair.
Well it's not that one her voice said sarcastically in her head.
Hesitantly, she reached for a significantly smaller handle located to the left, wrapping her fingers around it and she gave it a small tug down. She waited for a sudden blast of water, but it never came.
Instead a gradual stream of freezing cold water ran down her back,
"Shit!" Jumping out the trajectory direction of the water she reached around it grabbing the handle she yanked it back up.
Stupid fancy fucking shower
Grabbing another one of the handles, a steady stream of water poured from the shower head, sticking her hand under it first Denah sighed when her fingers met with a delightful warm flow of water. Stepping into it she sighed when the warm pellet of water eased into the ache of her muscles, soothing away the tension they had built up while she was running away from the rogues.
Grabbing one of the bottles perched on a ledge tucked into the shower wall Denah made quick use of the soaps, cleaning any grime, blood or dirt off of her skin.
She didn't come across any cuts while rubbing her skin clean, her magic had already been working fast to fix up wounds, there were a couple of bruises but nothing too serious, they were tender but easy to live with.
When she finished she wringed her hair and stepped out the shower, wrapping her damp hair in a light grey towel, grabbing another off the nearby rack, She wrapped the warm fabric around her body.
Opening the door to the bathroom Denah walked back out into the room.
The bedroom lights were a lot duller than those in the bathroom, aiding in the appeal of sleep, heading in the direction of the bed Denah spotted a neat folded pile of clothing laid out of the covers. Two piles to be exact, a pile of pyjamas and an outfit for her to wear probably in the morning. A small note was laid on the bed, picking it up.
There are a couple sets of underwear and bras for you under the clothing. A drink and salty snacks can be located on the bed side table, eat if you wish, Akemi said you may need the Salt to regenerate your strength.
─SUKI
Denah folded the note back up and glanced at the side of the bed. There sat on the small desk a sealed bottle of water and a small jar of pickles and a packet of salted nuts. Denah's lip curled up at the sight of the pickles, she had never really taken a liking to them, grabbing the small packet of salted nuts she tore it open, sitting on the edge of the bed she dropped a few into her hand, popping them into her mouth she grabbed the bottle of water.
She felt the moment the salt had its effect on her body, like a roll of heat crawling across her skin she felt her magic chase after it.
After quickly drying herself off with the towel she slipped into the new pajamas, they were a little oversized on her but she didn't really mind, removing the clothing from the bottom of the bed Denah pulled back the duvet, climbing onto the mattress.
The memory foam dipped under her weight, laying back she was embraced by sudden comfort, the pillow was cold and fitted to her neck and head perfectly, she tried and failed to recall ever feeling this amount of comfort while lying in a bed before.
Pulling the duvet up to her chin Denah watched the dull shadows in the room. They moved, shades of black and onyx danced with each other, entwining. Denah felt a spike of fear constrict her chest, she hadn't really ever slept in a room alone before, she had always shared with someone, this room had too much space. Empty, dark space.
The shadow watched her, taunting her from their corners of emptiness. Curling her knees up to her chest, Denah rolled onto her side and squeezed her eyes shut while throwing the cover up over her head.
Only then did she relax enough to fall into the depth of sleep, into the arms of darkness.

Denah groaned aloud when she woke the next morning, stretching her arms above head, arching her back. Sitting herself up her eyes travelled around the room, it seemed a lot less scary when it was light.
Kicking the duvet away from her she slipped off the bed, the soft carpet padding her journey across the room as she walked towards the door.
It didn't take her long to navigate her way down through the house, it appeared as though everyone else was still asleep but Denah was still rubbing the sleep from her eyes when she walked into a conservatory, the room had windows for walls. Sat on one of the window ledges was the older woman from last night. The Witch, Akemi, her name was.
Denah only got about two steps into the room when Akemi's hand came up and her fist clenched, Denah felt her body lock, something had wrapped around her and was constricting her movement.
"Didn't your teachers ever teach you to not sneak up on a Witch unannounced?"
Akemi turned her head slowly away from the window, her eyes were glowing their vibrant white, they studied her from across the room.
She unclenched her fist and Denah was able to breath again, she didn't dare take another step. Akemi seemed finished with the conversation as she turned back around, clutching a cup of tea to her chest she looked back out the window.
"Teach me"
She didn't look back around.
Swallowing Denah stepped up further into the room, "Can you teach me"
"Teach you what? Freezing someone's body?"
"Control" Denah confirmed, this seemed to pinch Akemi's attention, she spun herself back around,
"What type of control?" She was watching Denah with still steady eyes, investigating every detail of the younger Witches face.
"Teach me to control my magi─"
NO
The voice made Denah stiffen once more, eye widening as she scanned for the owner of the voice.
Akemi was raising her cup to her lips when she caught on the shift in the air, gaze casting up to the Witchling she froze, lowering the tea she placed it down next to her on the window ledge.
"You can hear them?" She asked, The younger Witch whipped her gaze back to her,
"Who is them?"
Akemi went to answer her, but the Alpha waltzed into the room, halting her answer, the Werewolves weren't supposed to know of a this talent, and she wasn't about to let them in on it now, Avoiding the younger's gaze she watched the Alpha as he stopped facing the other Witch in the room.
"I see you are well rested now" He spoke softly
Denah didn't know what it was about this male but she could feel the air around him change, he was surrounded by power, very different to that of a Witches but it was there. Casting a look to Akemi she started to worry when the older Witch refused to look at her, looking back at the male, she nodded.
"I'm the Alpha of the Fedora Pack, and Would deeply appreciate it if you could tell me how you came across My pack"
Denah panicked for a fraction of a second while she brought a hand up to pinch the skin of her forearm. Then she started retelling the story of how she came here,
"My Training Coven was attacked last night, a group of rogues were rounding us up they were taking some─ killing others, but they knew we had a weakness to Iron"
This caught the attention of them both, Akemi sat up straighter when the Alpha shared a look with her.
"I managed to get away but he sent a couple Wolves after me,"
"Who's he?" Akemi asked, standing up. Denah shook her head, shrugging her shoulder, "I don't know it was some guy he had great big scars covering his face and he moved with a staff, he sent some wolves after me so I ran, I got out and kept running until I fell and then two wolves came out of nowhere, They saved me and then everything went dark," Denah scratched the skin harder, "When I woke I was here"
The Alpha made a noise, nodding his head he rubbed his chin casting another look to Akemi. He seemed to be contemplating something for a second before he spoke,
"You can stay here, For your own safety I will have some of our Wolves keep an eye out for Rogues, if you could give me a description of what they looked like later that would be greatly appreciated"
Denah nodded breathing words of gratitude before the Alpha started talking once more,
"If you are to stay here, You will train in combat with the others of the pack, I'm assuming they are around your age" he nodded while looking at Akemi who made a noise of agreement, "And you will train your magic with Akemi,"
He seems to look around for a second then yells after a figure that walks past the entrance, "Seonghwa!"
The boy sticks his head back into the entrance with a singular raised eyebrow in question.
"Take..." The Alpha gestured in Denah's direction, she jumped in stating her name and he nodded in appreciation.
"Take Denah to find and meet the others, she will be joining you for training see if Suk or Tia have anything she can wear"
The boy nods, stepping in so his entire body was visible, not just his head. He was a tall lean figure, muscular, his features were soft and sharp all at the same time. Denah wouldn't deny he was good looking, very pleasing to look at.
He waited for her to follow him out
An awkward silence that was begging to be filled, surrounded the two as they walked, Seonghwa filled it.
"I've never met a teenage Witch before"
Denah chuckled slightly, "I'd never met Werewolves until they attacked my Training Coven"
She wanted to kick herself for that, biting her lip in embarrassment, an even awkward silence shrouded over them.
"Sorry, Shouldn't have said that" Denah rubbed the skin on her forearm glancing over to Seonghwa as he walked next to her.
"It's totally fine, Let me formally introduce myself," he stopped walking, turning to properly face her. Denah stop facing him,
"I'm Seonghwa Park, Eldest of the children from the Fedora Pack, Beta in Training" he extended a hand out, Smiling Denah took it,
"I'm Denah Cardel, Youngest of the Cardel Coven, Witchling in Training, Pleasure to meet you"
Seonghwa chuckled at her, his smile bright and joyous, he was friendly and warm, something Denah was so desperately seeking right now.
Seonghwa gestured for them to continue,
"How many siblings did you have?" Seonghwa asked,
"Four, Brothers"
"Solid number, I have no Biological Sibling but The others are basically my brothers."
"What about the two girls?" Denah couldn't quite remember their names
"Suki and Tia?" He asked, raising an eyebrow at her, Denha nodded trying to commit to memory the rooms they were walking past. It wouldn't do her any good if she was staying here and couldn't navigate her way around.
"Suki is my adoptive sister and Tia is one of the other boys mates"
"You guys have mates?"
He made a scoffing noise, Denah couldn't tell if he was offended or amused.
"I didn't mean─ I know you guys had mates I just didn't know you met them at this age," Denah made a weird swirling hand gesture "I thought like you met them when you were older,"
He froze, casting her an exceptionally weird look. Denah snapped her finger, "I'm just going to stop talking"
Seonghwa walked on and emitted a small laugh,
"Two of my brothers have found their mates. Yes, The rest of us are yet to find them, It really just depends on when we happen to meet them'' There was a hint of disappointment or sadness lacing his words when he spoke.
It made more sense now that Denah thought of it. In her lessons at the Training Coven they were taught about other creatures and how they lived, the topic of mates came up. Both Werewolves and Vampires had them, Witches however did not and for some reason that realisation had Denah feeling almost lonely on the inside. When her mentor had mentioned mates Denah was just waiting for her to say that Witches had them somewhere, but that sentence never came. It had left Denah's younger self rather disheartened.
Before she could comprehend what was happening next Seonghwa was opening a small door, walking through a back passage. Denah hesitated before following him through. They entered a much bigger room filled with large lounge sofas, TVs, a small bar and more then a few figures sat around the room.
Every one of them froze when the two of them walked into the room. Seonghwa ignored the inquizitive looks of his siblings as he gestured to the Witch standing next to him.
"Guys, allow me to formally introduce you to Denah Cardel"

Denah had spent many times in her life being spectilated by others, every time without fail she felt like a subject in a lab. Her skin crawled with their gazes on her, emotions plummeting deep into a depth that made the contents of her stomach stir unpleasantly inside her.
Suki shut over the catalogue she was looking at, Denah frowned at the cover. It was a wedding catalogue. The cover depicted a huge white room with a tall woman standing in a silky dress where the material flowed like liquid around her figure. Suki jumped up from her chair where Tia had been sitting opposite her at the table, Tia wore a pair of rounded glasses that sat perched on the bridge of her nose, she pushed them up slightly when she tilted her head back to look at Suki.
"Hongjoong's dad was wondering if you guys had anything she could wear to train in" Seonghwa spoke walking down into the room, He flipped through the pages of the wedding catalogue, he scoffed down at the context of one of the pages.
Grabbing the booklet he held it up in the direction of the other boys in the room, "You seeing this Wooyoung?"
A boy sat near the bar peaked up over the counter, eye and a head of hair being the only thing visible, his brows rose into his hairline, his gaze softened for a second before darkening. "Suk, really?"
The girl rolled her eyes, snatching the catalogue back from her brother. She rolled it up and hit his arm with it. Seonghwa laughed but walked off towards the bar.
"I love you Suki," Seonghwa said tipping the pot, steam shadowing out the hot liquid, "But I'm not wearing a neon green suit to your wedding"
Suki dropped the catalogue onto the table, giving Tia a small nudge she started walking in Denah direction, "It's my wedding, You won't have a choice"
A sudden wave of silence passed through the longue, Each of the boys taking in the realisation of what Suki had just said, She laughed at them when she looked back and they were all watching her with wide eyes, she pointed two fingers at her eyes then at them, as if to show she was watching them, "Now you all have to be nice to me or I'll make you all wear neon green suits"
"You won't do it"
"Please no"
"What have I ever done to you!" Mingi yelled, throwing his arms up over his head. He wasn't the last to yell out a reply but for some reason everyone was listening and watching him as the room fell into silence while he finished his sentence.
Suki gave him a deadpan expression as she pointed to something in the longue, Denah leaned forward into the room trying to see what it was the female was pointing at, she couldn't help but squint in confusion, Suki was just pointing at an empty space.
Mingi made a weak sound as he realised what it was Suki was trying to reference to,
"You still need to get me a new bookcase Song Mingi" Suki laughed at his expression as she walked out, Pulling a still confused Denah with her, Tia following the two out while trying to stifle her own laughter.
"I don't get it," Denah said as the three of them ventured upstairs towards Suki and Wooyoung's room. Tia laughed again, a warm sound that had Denah relaxing,
"Let's just say the day I formally met them all was an eventful day"
Suki pinched the bridge of her nose as she saw Denah's face fall deeper into a frown, "Mingi ran and knocked over my bookcase in the longue when we met Tia, He hasn't replaced it yet"
Something about the way they all talked about the time they spent with each other, made Denah a little envious of the almost carefree environment the pack shared. Was this what all Werewolves Packs were like? She couldn't even remember the Coven having any form of Fun. Her brothers and her had a lot of fun when she was younger, but as soon as she ran away and was picked up to go to the Training Coven the fun of childhood had come to an abrupt stop.
She didn’t miss the Coven at all, being with the Pack reminded her of her family, she was missing them a lot now that she was out of the Training Coven. Shaking her head she tried to chase away the reminiscence of her memories from the time spent with her family.
"So Training here, what's it like?"
Suki sighed taking the steps at a much slower pace, "Well to sum it up, the Delta of the pack trains us and we practise our fighting skills against each other"
"Wait each other?" The prospect had Denah's skin crawling.
"Yeah, Suki and I always spar against our mates but the others fight each other" Tia spoke softly from behind Suki and Denah on the stairs.
"Oh I see" She didn't mean to sound so disappointed by the idea but she didn't want to accidentally hurt anyone with her magic. In the Training Covens if they were doing combat training they would be up against stimulations. Occasionally they might fight their mentors but they always had the magic protecting them.
Suki brushed her hand along Denah's forearm, making the girl flinch away from her touch, the skin on her forearm was tender and she wrapped the muscle with her own hand.
Suki watched the action but said nothing of it as she went back to walking, "I have no idea who you'll be with─ "
"Hongjoong perhaps?" Tia suggested, Suki made a quick noise of uncertainty, "Nah, It will probably be Mingi"
They were in the room now, Suki scouring through drawers searching for something for Denah to wear,
"You don't have to worry about it though Denah, The boys have been training since we were little but they won't hurt you"
"It's not me I'm worried about" Denah said under her breath, hoping the two didn't hear her, clearly they was something higher up against her today as both girls shared a quick look in silence, Suki walked across the room and dumped a pile of clothing onto the bed,
Denah reached to grab the bundle when Suki grabbed her wrist, panicking had her making eye contact with the female shifter, fearing she had pissed the she-wolf off, had by saying what she had somehow come across as her threatening the other pack member.
Suki watched her with emotionless eyes for a second more before she spoke, "Well in that case," a smile snaked onto her plump lips, "Give them hell."
She released Denah's wrist and stood tall once more, "We, Wolves may not be as strong as you Witches, but we can hold our own and can heal rather quickly," she paused thinking over her next words casting a look to Tia she smirked, "And besides” Suki shrugs “it's funny watching the boys get their asses kicked by a girl, We'll leave you to get dressed"
»»——⍟——««
Denah pulled Suki's sport shirt further down her torso, it was a little too short for her comfort. She didn't mind the quarter length leggings though, they were comfy and flexed around her thighs and hips perfectly.
Denah was looking at the back of the others heads as they led her out to their outdoor training area. Suki and Tia had seemingly abandoned her for their mates, but she was kept calm by Seonghwa keeping a close eye on her. Ensuring she was still following them.
They were on their way to meet Yunho and his father to train, it wasn't unusual for Yunho to be with one of his parents, he was forever training with his father to get better in his fighting skills or he would be sitting with his mother having a cup of relaxing tea with her whenever he wasn't with the other boys playing games in the kid's lounge.
It didn't take the group of teenage Werewolves, Human female and teenage Witch long to get through the woods, to the clearing, carved out specifically for their training.
Denah took a second to take it all in, raised platforms, built up like boxing rings were scattered around the clearing, some gym equipment was grouped together at the far corner of the open space under a wooden shelter, probably built to keep the equipment from ruining in the weather.
Denah's gaze flicks from one thing to the next, eyes wide in shock by the contrast from her previous training facility. A loud bang boomed through the air and Denah looked over to one of the raised platforms, a guy with a tall build and broad shoulders had grabbed the person behind him, who had him in a sort of headlock position, the large male threw the other over his shoulder from behind.
The other male landed hard and his eyes burst open in surprise, even from a fair distance away Denah marveled at the sun's light as it glinted in the boy's eyes. Something twisted inside her and she felt her blood turn to ice when the boy's head turned, still pressed to the mat to look at her. The boy studied her for a second, his focus was taken away from her when his opponent held a hand out to help him up off the mat.
Yunho barely felt it when his dad patted him on the shoulder, uttering a quick, 'good job son' his attention was riveted solely on the girl standing at the pathway too-and-from their Pack house.
She was the most beautiful person he had ever laid eyes on, he didn't care what anyone else said about her, to him she was the definition of perfection.
He stretched his sweaty hands on the material clothing his thighs, watching as his father walked over to her, he was talking to the Witchling when Akemi walked up with the Alpha and his mother next to her.
"Is she your mate?" A femine voice asked from behind him, looking over his shoulder he peered down at Tia, she had walked away from Yeosang who was roughhousing with Wooyoung in the distance, She raised her eyebrow, waiting for a response from him.
"What makes you say─"
"You have,.." she paused pondering, "The look"
Yunho glanced back at the Witchling, she was already looking at him, heat burst into his face and he quickly looked away, Tia chuckled, watching Yunho trying to watch Denah discreetly,
"Her name is Denah" Tia added, stepping up to stand next to him she shoved her hands into her pockets hoping to gain some warmth into them.
"Denah '' Yunho breathed her name like oxygen, intoxicating─ yet a necessity for living.
This time when Yunho looked at her and caught her watching him he didn't look away, being able to be putting a name to her face felt good,
Denah
Tia glanced between the two before biting into her smile, spinning on her heels she walked back to the others, knocking her body into Yeosang's she tucked herself into his side when he wrapped an arm around her and drew her closer to his body. He ignored the conversation going on around them to look down at his mate," What were you doing?,"
Tia nudged his side ever so slightly with her elbow before looking over in Yunho direction, the tall male was still stood gaze transfixed on Denah, Yeosang shared a knowing smile with Wooyoung and Suki─ they too were watching their tall brother. The Pack's Delta walked over with Denah following close behind and she passed a look to Yunho as she walked past him, one that was not missed by Tia and Suki, the pair smiled at each other and had to resist the urge to giggle like school girls.
"Seonghwa" The Delta called, walking up onto the training area, Seonghwa looked up, pushing Hongjoong away from himself he walked towards Yunho's father, sending a warming smile to Denah who forced her mind away from the other boy still watching her, she returned the smile.
"You will go with Denah here, until we can figure out where her combat abilities lie, then we can better match her with you," he gestured behind Seonghwa "or to one of the other boys."
Seonghwa rolled the sleeves of his top up, preparing his outfit for movement. He walked up the steps to the training ring, stopping at the top of them he turned and held a hand out. Denah stared at it for a solid second before reaching up and taking his hand, he walked her up the steps and gave her a small nod before walking towards the Delta.
Denah, by nature of habit, brought her hand up to her forearm and began pinching and rubbing at the muscle.
"All I want to see is how well you fight" The Delta spoke his voice travelling over the silence of the whole group, awaiting to see the Witchling fight.
The Delta leaned his built frame against the ropes surrounding the platform, Yunho appeared next to his father copying his parents stance he folded his arm over his chest. Denah could very clearly see the similarities between the two, they shared the same facial features, the perfectly shaped eyes with the small flick at the edges, to the soft rounded noses.
Seonghwa readied himself in front of her. He placed his feet firmly on the ground, shoulder width apart one positioned further back then the other.
Denah copied him, she couldn't really rely on her combat skills, they much like her use of magic are underused and uncontrolled. Seonghwa looked confident in his movements, Denah could only imagine she looked like a duckling trying to learn how to flap its wings for the first time. Bringing her hand up one slightly in front of the other, Denah briefly remembered doing this to protect her face.
"Well come one, We don't have all day" Akemi butted into the silence, from her place next to the platform, she was peering up from under the lowest rope of the ring. Her light wrinkles don’t even begin to dampen her once ethereal looks.
Denah balled her fists in order to stop them from shaking in front of her face, Seonghwa gave her a small nod to check she was ready before he moved.
He came at her fast, his feet moving faster to keep his balance. Denah stepped over to the left to dodge him but Seonghwa had anticipated her movement, he swung his fist at her. A surprised gasp of pain burst from Denah's lips when she felt his fist connect to her cheek.
She didn't realise she was down on the mats until she had to look up to see Seonghwa, he had an apologetic look on his face when she looked at him, hand clasping her stinging skin. Denah pushed herself back up onto her feet, balled fists raised to protect her face once more.
"Come on, show us what you were trained to do in the Covens" Akemi taunted, arms folded on the mats of the platform.
Seonghwa had bounced back from her, Denah jumped forward, throwing her fist at him, he shifted his shoulder back, keeping his lower half in position. He grabbed her wrist pulling her towards his body bringing his leg up, his knee connected with her stomach.
Something primal took over her and Denah wrapped her free arm around Seonghwa thigh, throwing her weight into his midsection she lifted his leg up throwing him off balance.
The pair of them landed hard.
Seonghwa had released his grip on her wrist now, she rolled away from him. Seonghwa laughed in surprise, as he clambered back up off the mats he caught Yunho's gaze, his brother was...glaring at him, like wishing death or pain upon him or something. There was something animalistic about the look, so raw with rage Seonghwa was dead set on just staying on the ground.
Denah was upon Seonghwa within the next few seconds. She was slowly losing her tether to reality, driving her fist down towards Seonghwa's face. She let out a yell of anger when he rolled out her way.
Seonghwa jumped up to his feet, wrapping his arms around Denah from behind. He locked her frame into place, she yelled once more trying to free herself from his grip.
Yunho had pushed himself off the ropes and was about to walk up to Seonghwa and Denah when Akemi raised her hand, freezing Yunho's every muscle. She wanted to see where this was going, how far the Witchling needed to be pushed before she lost control. That was always the first test.
Denah stopped struggling in Seonghwa's arms, watching as Betty walked up the steps to the Training ring. She was being followed by two of the other girls from Denah's room in the Training Coven.
Denah's head was yanked back by someone grabbing her hair so tightly tears pricked her eyes and suddenly she was no longer in the training ring with the Fedora Pack.
A snotty, tear controlled sob broke from Denah as the other girls mocked and taunted her, one of them still had a firm grip on her hair and she was holding tightly to their hands in a desperate attempt to ease her own suffering.
Betty bent down hands on her knees as she leaned to Denah, so close Denah could feel the other Witches breath fanning her face.
One of the girls from the other side of the room produced a Knife from nothing, she handed it to Betty. Denah tried to cry out once more and move, but she was pushed back down onto her knees by the girls standing behind her, they tugged at her hair making her yelp because of the pain that bloomed from the hair roots at the back of her head. One of the girls wrapped a hand around her mouth, something they commonly did to stop her from crying out and attracting the attention of one of their mentors.
Betty smirked, playing with the blade of the knife, twisting it around her fingers she laid it to Denah's throat. Pressing it into the skin,
"Listen here, De-nah '' Betty clicked her tongue against her teeth. Betty grabbed Denah's hair this time, curling her fist into knots of hair, yanking her neck back. Betty laughed at the singular tear that fell down Denah's cheek.
"You've got to stop getting us in trouble" Betty hissed as she lifted the knife to catch Denah's tear from her cheek, she held the blade up until Denah could see her own tear glisten in the room's lighting.
Betty held the knife to her throat once more, "If you don't get control of youself, I'll gut you with my bare fucking hands and leave you in the Cage” her jaw dropped and she smirked in amusement at the whimper that emitted from Denah “ And I’ll be making sure I throw away the keys"
Denah could feel her lips quivering and her nostrils flare as she tried to not cry out, they would only laugh at her. Betty backed away, throwing the knife at Denah, it pierced and stuck in the floorboard. She waved a hand at the others holding Denah, they threw her forward.
Denah landed hard against the wooden floor, it was cold and calming but by no means was she calm, her heart was beating rapidly in her chest while she listened to the noise of the girls walking away, their laughter dwindling with each step, steps that pounded loudly in Denah's head like her pulse in her ears.
Her pulse was still hammering inside her ears when she looked up and saw the members of the Fedora pack surrounding the fighting area, she was on her hands and knees panting to the padded mats of the training ring.
Sweat was slick and sticking to her under her clothes, they clung to her skin like clingfilm, she wanted to stretch and scratch it off, this uncomfortable feeling wrapped her whole body, when it started to constrict she panicked.
She could see Green seep into the corners of her vision, casting a wide eyed look to her arms she saw her veins turning a deep set of Green. The Colour was still a sickening sight to her, she wasn’t so used to seeing anything but blue in her veins.
Seonghwa backs away from the Witchling, when he senses raw unchecked power emanating from her, leaking out from her skin. He spotted Akemi making her way up the steps, slowly with no sense of urgency she stalked over to the Witchling huddled over on her hands and knees.
She had now unfrozen Yunho and had managed to make him stay put with one single glance, her own veins and irises turning white as she walked.
Those standing around the ring watched as the senior Witch stopped and crouched down in front of the younger. The wind howled in their ears as they seemingly all crowded in closer to get a glimpse of the other creatures' exchange.
Akemi breathed through her nose, reaching out, her boned fingers gripped the girl's forearm, the muscle tensed instantly and Akemi felt a sudden shift in the air she was breathing.
Denah snapped her head up and had her hand wrapped around Akemi's throat milliseconds after the Elder had touched her. Akemi said nothing as image after image flew through her mind, she could feel
pain.
fear.
sadness.
and a horrifying amount of rage.
The type of rage that bubbled and brewed under the surface, the unbridled kind that upturned the contents of one stomach and forced them to do the unthinkable, the kind that turns Creatures to Monsters.
It was the same kind of rage Akemi had seen many Creatures over the years fall weak to, breaking down after they had spent years building themselves up, it all came crashing down once the rage was released.
Denah's eyes burned a deep green as they honed in on Akemi, the grip around her neck tightened and Akemi backed down, retracting her blood. Something about the dark glint in Denah's eye had Akemi feeling a spark of hope. This thing that had taken hold of the docile teenage Witchling, was the thing Akemi was hoping for, it was the key to everything she had seen in Trinity, fought to suppress in her nightmares. The darkness stared her down with an intimidating amount of fury.
Bowing her head she broke eye contact with the other Witch, she was by no means challenging the fellow Witch.
The Pack watched from the sidelines as Akemi's throat was slowly released from the younger's hold, Yunho felt someone grip tight to his arm, he looked and saw his mother, a few heads smaller than he, at his side gripping the muscle in his arm.
"She is a fiery one" She said softly to her son, her mate appeared at her side a second later, sharing a look with her when Yunho said nothing and simply agreed with his mother.
She is a fiery one.
Denah looked around, up at everyone standing around watching her, some had horrified expression of their faces while others just looked shocked beyond belief, she caught the stares of a certain tall blonde head boy who was the only one surveying her with a concerned look on his face, a warmth bloomed within her, like match to flame. She glanced back at Akemi knelt in front of her, the older Witches neck was red and looked slightly inflamed, Denah couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt when she felt a tightness in her hands, a stiffness to them that had her feeling queasy when she realised what she had just done.
Launching up on unstable legs Denah ran past everyone, ignoring their stares and the calls of Suki and Tia as she ran straight for the cover and darkness of the trees.
She ran through the undergrowth, slapping away branch after branch that snapped at her face. The oxygen rich blood pumped around her body, her shins burning as they worked to keep her upright.
The resemblance of her running away from the rogues flashed to her mind and she tried to not let the memories of that night interfere with her current state.
The screams of the other girls. Stench of burning flesh. The blood spilt. Fear of being eaten by an oversized dog─
Denah ran until her lungs burned to be completely filled with air and her every limb ached with an agony so powerful and hot Denah was surprised she hadn't been engulfed into flames.
She halted to a stop when she came to a massive body of water, a cold blast of air shocked her into taking an intake of oxygen into her lungs, they burned from expansion inside her chest and were relieved at the same time.
The air blowing into her face cooled her body and calmed her blood down so she could have at least one coherent thought without having an incessant drumming in her ears.
She took a second to breathe the crisp air into her lungs while it blew into her face. The past twenty-four hours of her life will definitely never reach the list of top ten favourite moments but it sure as hell is on the list for worst moments, right after the incident with her family and her hurting Darian. Those two were at the top of the list because for both of those times she was the problem that caused the earthquake─ she was to blame. Where she was not at fault for what happened at the Training Coven.
Coming
There was that voice again, Denah didn't have time to ponder or search for it when she heard the noise of leaves crunching from the footfall behind her. Her spine snapped straight.
Denah tried calling upon her magic but when it didn't respond she frowned, times before it had refused and fought with her, but Denah didn't get any reply this time.
Here
Denah didn't have to hear that to know something was now standing, watching her from a close distance. Turning around slowly Denah expected to see someone standing in her line of sight, but there was no figure. The warmth of something's body heat was radiating in the air, if she closed her eyes she could hear their pulse.
This was how she was going to get her advantage, closing her eyes she scoured the air for the pulse, honing on to where it beat it's strongest─a tree just over to her left.
Denah could only hope it was friend not foe when she called out to them, "Did no one ever teach you not to sneak up on a Witch"
There was silence for a second as the thing momentarily stopped breathing, "Come out" Denah called, a knot had formed in her stomach, she felt physically sick, she had no idea if this person was going to kill her or not.
A sandy brown coloured wolf stepped out from behind the tree, eyes glowing a yellow so pure Denah thought it to be almost gold. There was something so familiar about the wolf, it moved away from the tree and stood tall watching her.
Denah couldn't place where she had seen those eyes before. Then it clicked, the tall blonde headed boy, the same wolf who had saved her the night she was being chased by the two rogues. The same wolf who had stood guard against his pack brother to keep her safe.

The group of nine girls stood studying their mentor's ever move, showcasing to them exactly what their magic could do one day if they were ever lucky enough to surpass to the level of a White Witch
In a second the mentor's arms were a flurry of white movement as she thrashed her arms around, facing her opponent she sent a strong gust of wind which knocked the Violet Witch off her feet.
Denah glanced at the others around her, no one else looked intimidated by the action, it all seemed far too much to her, that power was too much.
She caught on to the small unmasked giggled coming from some of the older girls that stood further down the line, Denah tried to avoid their attention but she could sense the prickle of their riveted looks that were solely focused on her, with shoulders curling in she tried to ignore them as best she could.
"Girls!" their mentor snipped, face hard as stone when she drew their attention back to her, the girls snapped back into attendance and their Mentor sent a small smile to Denah.
For the entire time Denah had been at the training coven Mentor Amina had always been colder towards the girls, she had the advantage of age on each of them. She would often use her memory and experience of the war against the girls saying they had to strive to be better than their ancestors that fought and died in the wars.
Mentor Amina had often spared Denah the embarrassment of her icy glare, was always patient with her, the crude women's kindness was the one thing only Denah had the luxury of experiencing, it annoyed the others with something awful.
Mentor Amina focused back on her lesson.
The Violet Witch had now returned with a metal basin suspended in the air, a finger pointed up as she levitated the basin just at her eye level, all the girls in line watched her with scrunched brows.
"Thank you Sarah" Mentor Amina said, waving the girl off. Sarah obeyed walking back to attend to her other duties.
Mentor Amina gestured the girls closer, when they stood at a much shorter distance she began her demonstration. Palms were held flat out in front of her, Denah leaned over the shoulder of another to get a better look, Mentor Amina's hands were hovering over what looked to be water, nothing was said by the elderly Witch as she brought her magic to her fingers, the crystal White blood flowed through her veins.
Denah had started to raise her hand to ask a question when mist rolled up into the air in front of her face, she felt the heat from it lick her cheek. Eye fixed back down to the basin she watched on when the water started to move, bubbling. Mentor Amina was pleased with her easy work of heating the liquid up to boiling point. Forcing the water to cool down she dropped her hands, head raised in the direction of her students. She observed them for a second, "Denah '' the girl looked at her with wide eyes, her head moved in a small side to side motion.
"Why don't you go first?"
Panic radiated from Denah as she stepped up past her peers, they snickered behind their hands at her. Heat pooled in the flesh of her cheeks, the slick stick of sweat began to cling to her palms.
Stopping at the basin, she flinched when Mentor Amina clasped her by the shoulder, moving her around the basin so she was facing with her back to the other girls. Mentor Amina took up the position across from Denah, facing the girl she gave a small nod.
"Well come on, put your hands up"
Denah raised her hands, extending them over the top of the water as Mentor Amina had done, giving the elderly women a look of hesitation she waited for further instruction,
"Picture the water bubbling, picture the particles of heat bumping off each other"
Closing her eyes over, Denah pictured them, what they looked like, how big they were, how fast they moved, naturally as something heated up it got faster, rapid movement of the heat particles bounced in her vision.
"Now, I want you to picture your magic within those particles, how they forced them to move faster, the colour of your magic within those heat particles"
Digging deep into her own mind, she searched for her magic, within her she called to it, trying to get it to work with instead of against her. She could feel the ripple of it building within her, felt the shiver as it rolled under her skin, a giggle broke her focus and her magic slithered back into its depths of hiding.
This only made the others laugh more, the mutters and whispers of the other witches invaded her mind, eradicating the image of the water particles together.
Mentor Amina looked from the youngest to the girls behind her, sending them looks of warning, they listened but continued to judge Denah as she continued to struggle with her power. A mocking session would definitely be needed tonight.
Denah could feel the judgments building up behind her, stabbing her in the back, the suffering of it's sharp tip dug deep into her, calling forth the one part of her she couldn't.
Focusing it onto something, she felt sick with power as it shot through her hands, a flow of blue flames shot from her palms, straight into the water, eyes snapping open Denah watched on in panic as the water turned a deep blue, before the metal it was held by began to grow red and steam rolled off the water's surface.
A loud crack resounded through the air and the metal basin began to melt, the basin split and all the water flowed out, the girls around Denah screamed as the scolding water ran over their bare feet, the skin starting to blister.
"DENAH!" Mentor Amina roared, throwing her own arms up and she froze all the water turning it to white fluffy snow with the snap of her finger.
A gust of cold hit her ankles and Denah was jolted from her dazed state, glancing around she looked at all the others, many of the girls were sitting on the ground in the snow, holding their ankles in suffering. Turning around, Denah felt her blood run cold when she met the angered eyes of her Mentor.
"That was totally unacceptable! it is okay for you to be unable to call upon your magic but to lose control of it completely to the point of hurting others, I am severely disappointed"
"I-I didn't mean─" she felt the pang of guilt as she spared the girls around her a quick look. Some of them had already started to heal themselves.
"I have no choice but to punish you" Her Mentor spoke, turning away, A snicker curled into the crisp air, a couple of the girls laughed and giggled as Denah was led away from them by their mentor, to serve out her punishment.
She hadn't meant to hurt them, but she knew rules were rules, keeping control was everything in the training camps, if a Witch lost control outside of one she could get herself a sentence with The Order.
She knew exactly where this punishment was going, it was the one place she loathed the most, partly because it was where she spent a lot of her time.
The Cage was what most of the girls called it.
A dark room with no light, where each Witch would be forced to face their worst fears and demons, each time a Witch was put into it her whole training group would get punished as well, in different ways of course.
Denah knew from past experience she would not be allowed out until she had faced each of her worst nightmares, and done so without losing control. Each would test and push her to the limit until she grew tired and too weak to supply them with magic.
Blocking out the panic that hit her when she reached the door of the Cage, she said nothing while Mentor Amina held it open for her. Giving her a sympathetic look which she avoided.
There was no hiding from the darkness once Denah stepped into the Cage, she felt the things lurking in the shadows beginning to grow stronger feeding off her magic. Robbing her of her one birthright. Denah faced her back to those things, her well known 'friends'.
Mentor Amina forced herself to meet the teenage girl's vacant eyes until they were covered by the door as she shut it over. She wanted to wish Denah good luck, hoping the girl would last longer than a night, but it would be hopeless.
There is no such thing as luck in the Cage, simply survival, and out of everyone in the Training Coven, Denah was the only one who was a true survivor of those things.
The door banged when it shut centimetres from her nose, closing her eyes she felt the presence of another pop up behind her, with a shaky bated breath she prepared herself for all the night was to hold.
Turning around, the shiver of goosebumps slowly crawled along her skin, wrapping and constricting her chest as she was met with the first of the night's creatures,
she didn't need to look to know it was smiling at her, opening her eyes she was met with the sight that still shocked her to this day.
There she stood right in front of her, the first of her nightmares took the form of herself, completely identical, except for the eyes, they were the purest of black, the whole eye not just the iris.
As she watched on she felt the slither of a tear trail down her cheek, stricken with a paralysing amount of fear she looked at her own reflection in the black abyss of 'her' own eye. Her shoulder shook and lips quivered, then she saw it.
Her reflection now shared the same black eyes as her nightmare self, her fingers itched at her side to claw them out her skull, it took everything within her control to keep her hands firm down at her sides.
Denah's eyes snapped open when she felt a prick in the inner bend of her elbow, as a natural reaction the magic flowed through the veins in her arm, turning them a bright blue.
"Tia, let go of her and step away slowly" A female voice said, tinted with a sense of urgency, the pair of ice cold hands released their grip on her, sitting up slowly Denah watched with frantic eyes, her view jumped between two girls. One was backing away slowly from her, hands raising up next to her head, the other girl was at the back wall. She was in what looked like workout clothing and her brown hair was pulled into a ponytail at the crown of her head.
The girl's eyes flashed at her like the lights of a car, the piercing yellow had the magic shooting through Denah's veins until she felt the tingle of its presence brush at her fingertips.
The female Werewolf took one step closer to the bed, Denah threw her hands up, pushing them out from her chest she watched with wide eyes as the female was throw across the room, she crashed into a wooden cabinet suspended up on the wall, the contents inside whacked when they hit the floor, the wood split and the she-wolf hit the floor as a heap amongst the charnage.
The human, Tia, leapt over the shattered glass landing next to the female Werewolf, "Suki?"
Denah stared wide eyed at her own hands, the blue was fading fast, she had to get out of here. The muscles in her arms were stiff as she tried to haul herself off the bed. Something was sticking to her skin, the air caught in her throat in surprise when she saw the tube and needle protruding out. Ripping it out she ignored the sting as she propelled herself from the bed.
Staggering across the room, her hand gripped tight to the door archway, fingers burning she dug them into the wood pushing off it.
The hallway was darkened and the cold hardwood floor bit at Denah's bare feet. The skin was no longer sensitive to walk on, the cuts had long since healed. That was one thing she could be thankful for right now. She would be thankful for her freedom once she got out this wretched house, the rogues must have captured her and brought her back to wherever it was they were working. She was going to get out alive and the first thing she was going to do was go to The Order, they would know what to do, even if summoning them could get her killed.
The slip of the wood panels provided a great escape plan as she glided down the hallway, coming to a set of stairs she didn't hesitate to throw herself down them, jumping them three at a time.
Her knees met the flooring at the bottom of them, driving herself back up she ignored the burning building in her shins, running down the hallway, it led into a kitchen area ─ the room was littered with unwashed dishes.
She paid little mind to them, rushing through the room she glided around the island centered in the room. There didn't seem to be any other rogue anywhere in sight, she didn't understand why the two had let her get away so easily before but she didn't doubt if she ran into one now they would try to stop her.
Looking up and down the new hallway Denah moved in the direction that had an open door, coats and shoes were scattered around the entrance, where faint light was streaming in like bright beams of warm happiness.
Grasping the old, frigid brass door handle with her whole hand Denah threw the door open, it cracked off the wall upon impact. Taking a second to collect herself while she was standing on the cool decking of the front porch. The breeze chilled her skin and frilled up her slightly tangled hair, a solitary strand got itself caught in the nets of her eyelashes.
There were trees surrounding her as far as she could see, various vehicles and other means of transport were parked outside. Jumping off the steps leading up to the front door, Denah somehow managed to maintain her level of balance. Running for one of the cars she tried the handle ─ Locked.
Maybe they might have keys inside.
Turning around to go back into search for keys, Denah froze in a block of solid ice when seven males emerged from the treeline many wore clothing of a workout drenched in sweat, they all narrowed their eyes in her direction. One of them who was on the shorter side, with broad shoulders growled slowly when he caught her hand twitching to go back at the car window.
Something territorial snapped inside her, Denah knew if she wanted to get out with her life she needed to defend herself, the one time she actually needed her magic it came to her aid.
The seven werewolves watched on as blue leaked through her veins like water trickling down a stream; it was fluid in its path, agile and swift.
Denah rotated her wrists, swirling the magic at her fingertips calling it to her every will. A wave of heat hit her with a pass of dizziness, stepping her feet shoulder width apart she readied herself but refused to stoop as low as to make the first move.
"Where are Suki and Tia?" Mingi asked quietly from the back of their group, Yeosang stepped forwards and growled slowly, feeling the soul of his wolf forcing its way to the surface, they knew Suki could heal ─ Tia on the other hand was a different story.
Yeosang had only recently marked Tia, claiming her as his, bounding her life to his. The bond between them was fresh and like an open wound it was vulnerable. Tia was vulnerable in his eyes, if this Witch had hurt her in any way─
His skin burned as the wolf took over, each of his brothers back off a couple steps as his skin burst into fur. Landing on all four Yeosang stalked towards the Witch, Yunho and Mingi had brought back into their home.
Denah felt her magic waver in its confidence, she felt it flicker like a faulty light bulb. The wolf stood tall with it's shoulder held high, head lowered as it rumbled out a thunderous growl twined with a sudden snap of its jaw.
Her magic slipped back into hiding within her, slithering into the depths of its hidy-hole. A switch was flicked, no magic meant no survival really, she had spent so much time at the training camp trying to use her magic she paid no attention to the actual combat lessons, oh how she wished she could kick herself in the ass right now.
Yunho watched from his place next to Wooyoung, watching Yeosang, an uneasy feeling coiled in his gut sparing a second to glance up at the Witch he finally took in what he could see.
She had a healthy build, with wide hips, the veins in her arms were a faded blue, her angular eyes matching the colour. She was beautiful, fierce and powerful. They could feel the sheer level of her power emanating from her prickling against their skin like nettles, when a flash of hesitation washed through her fading eyes Yunho realised ─ She was scared above everything else.
Yeosang clearly hadn't noticed this of course and Yunho grew more anxious when the Witch moved back when Yeosang started to stalk towards her. There was something so innocent and vulnerable about how she moved. It made Yunho feel protective of her in a way he never had felt before, not even with Suki, this emotion was pure internal animalistic instinct, a primal thing that crept up his spine and sprung upon him in a second.
Pushing past the other Yunho stopped between the two equally dangerous creatures holding a hand up to Yeosang,
"Don’t." his voice didn't waver slightly when he forced the words out. He needed his pack brother to know how serious he was about the Witch's safety.
A small rumble came from Yeosang, his shoulder bunched and his head lowered, eyes burning into the figure of the Witch.
Yunho moved into his line of sight, blocking the girl from view, the older tilted his head to the left ever so slightly to better meet Yeosang's eyes, "Back Off" he warned.
"We don't know if she hurt the girls or not"
Denah watched as the wolf seemed to contemplate the other boy's words, determining his course of action. She couldn't help the dip that rolled through her when the werewolf mentioned 'the girls', was he talking about the two inside, the one who she had thrown into a wall? She did not like thinking of what they might do once they figured out she actually might have hurt one of them.
The thought of Tia being hurt ran through Yeosang's mind on a continuous loop, like a record that had been damaged and repeated itself in a scratching annoying replay. The Witches scent, the electrified buzz of her magic hit the air, grating his nerves. A low growl bubbled up at the back of his throat.
"Stop!"
All heads turned in the direction of the front door, Suki and Tia rushed out at each other's sides, Tia leapt down the steps first, Suki closely following with a small limp in her step.
Yunho eyed the pair head-to-toe as they moved past him, Tia stopping next to Yeosang.
Denah watched the female run her hand along the wolves head, the beast closed its orange eyes and leaned into her touch. As if soothed by it.
Pressing its massive body against her own, she looked small in comparison to the sheer size of the animal. Its shoulders were just below hers and its head added another few meters to that height.
The wolf's beady yellow eyes snapped wide once more, seemingly being reminded that she was standing there. Their yellow fire burned into her with their piercing glare, cutting into her like a knife to flesh.
Magic rippled through her, uncalled for magic, it touched her fingers urging her on. Denah had to bite down hard into her lower lip, she should use her magic now and distract them, hopefully giving herself enough time to get away. The presence of the human female still at the wolves' side complicated things.
It was forbidden to put humans in harm's way, one of the unrelenting rules set by The Order. Denah would rather be sent to the fiery pits of hell then sent to face them, the power the individual members held was immense, they were untouchable and damn near impossible to kill when standing together.
Not even in Denah's dreams had she ever even wanted to meet them, they scared the living daylight out of her, especially the Witch members. If she thought her mentors were powerful she had to think again.
Her attention was drawn back to her reality when the tall male, who had previously used himself as a shield, stepped up.
He met her gaze.
Dean felt her heart tumble in her chest, it tickled something inside her, it ignited and her heart pumped blood fast into her cheek, her magic gaining weight in her fingertips. The corner of the man's eye twitched slightly, like a puppy focusing on its newfound meaning of life.
A light breeze scent goosebumps flying up the expanse of her bare arms, and it cooled the fire building within her, tearing her stare from his body as she watched the trees sway and groan. Trying to figure out what it was they were conveying to her.
Yunho watched her while she looked away, a smile slithered onto his lips, tightening his cheek muscles, he didn't dare try to deny it access. He wanted her to touch him with her attention once more, to ease the numbness building inside him. Yunho skin felt casted with paralysis. It was not the type of paralysis brought on by any form of chemical or friction, but the one that was brought on by knowledge.
The knowledge that she was his mate.
He observed and tried to take in as much about her as he could, her slightly sunkissed skin which was adorned with freckles, spread across her cheek and nose like paint splatter. The glow of her hair in the dwindling sun's light, the blue hue of her visible veins, the magic within it only seemed to grow stronger the longer he looked at it.
The river of it run faster within her, gaining speed and strength, like a flash flood it began to overflow and control all within it's path,
including her.
The trees around them all groaned louder, screaming in their ears, Denah felt herself panic when she grasped control of something that was not her own soul.
Yunho backed off when he sensed something crashing into him, momentarily knocking him of oxygen. The others stepped back with him and Yeosang put himself in front of Tia, Seonghwa came to his brother's mate's side.
The trees thrashed in the brutal winds rocking them back and forth, they perched inwards at them all their skeletal branches clawing closer to them with each wind that rushed around them.
The present pack members got back to back, starting out as their lifelong home as it turned hostile and unrecognisable. The ground, wind and trees pounded in time with each other, a full working system, a heart and beating in time.
The core of it all pulsed from one centre, the Witch stood with her feet shoulder width apart, her arms held ground facing, blue mist flowing from her palms. The blue waves rolled and wrapped itself around her ankles, climbing her legs. It moved with confidence, like it had its own presence and energy and that was the first time the pack released, This Witch had no control of the creature she shared a body with. She inhabited it, it did not inhabit her.
The group of wolves were corralled into a smaller circle as the ground shook underfoot,
"What the actual fuck!" Mingi yelled over the sound of the howling wind, he stood somewhere on Yunho's right.
"Someone has to stop her" Suki yelled out, she shifted with a grunt of effort, she growled as her front paws pounded down into the dirt.
"No" Yunho said, spinning on her, Suki cocked her head to the side, watching Yunho as he struggled to keep himself standing up right as the wind pushed and pulled him in more than one direction.
"She is just scared" he tried to reason with his sister
"We still have to stop her Yunho" Hong Jong butted in catching his gaze before turning his attention back to the teenage Witch
"Look"
Yunho and Suki both glanced back at the Witch, the blue glow of the iris faded as the sky grew dark. Blocking out the remaining light from the setting sun.
It was like watching through a pane of glass, unable to do anything other then bang her feet and balled fists against the see through material, screaming in her own head to stop, she had lost control and sight of who she was in the very moment, all because of the whispers coming from the trees.
They taunted her, like the girls in the training camp, the trees conversed with the wind telling it to pull at her hair and nip at her skin, It had sent her tumbling over the edge of power.
The whispers continued, groaning out creaks of the bark as the trees grew more violent in their sways, The magic within her begged for retaliation, she could feel it bubble. It wanted her to fight back.
The one thing that always got her in trouble at the training camps was that she always allowed the magic within her to have what it wanted, consequences be damned.
All of those moments had led to now, she had felt the full wrath of the nightmares in the darkness of The Cage. They too had had their fair share of teasing her, because they too had broken her.
The crack of thunder burned her back while looking through the glass, she saw the pack of wolves huddled together, one watched her with worried eyes, the same eyes which had watched her, had met her gaze, the same eyes of the boy who had stepped up and shielded her.
Two wolves stood among the group, they took up stance at the outer line of the group both looking far too intimidating with their teeth bared at her.
The magic reared its head up at them in defiance, there was nothing Denah could do as she raised her arms up and threw them in the group's direction, an arch of lightning flew over her shoulder seconds later.
Mingi and Wooyoung both jumped out of the beam's way as it struck the tree in the distance behind where they were standing. The truck cracked, it split right up into the high of the branches and away from sight.
The noise resounded through the air, Wooyoung and Mingi shared a look after glancing at the damage done to the tree, both sighing a quick breath of relief that they had gotten out of the way in time.
The two wolves growled and stepped out from the group's circle now, Denah's attention snapped onto them as they prowled closer.
She tried to scream at them to stop, begging them to just let her go.
She didn't want this, she never wanted to harm them, but the magic had grown too powerful and she had no means of reigning it in.
She felt like she was going to throw up when the flash of lightning erupted behind her, the boom of thunder shadowning it seconds after.
She was a puppet and the magic coursing through her had full control of the strings as it tugged her hands up, holding them in front of her.
What she noticed next made her confused, slowly, second by second the blue blood running through her veins started to turn colour.
The veins took on a yellowish hue, the blue mixed with the colour until there was no distinct line between the two, her veins were now green and her eyes burned like someone had just thrown dust at them.
Closing them she felt the shiver of a singular tear run down the curve of her cheek bone.
She didn't have enough control to even bring her hand up to rub at her eyes, the tears made them burn, and when she opened them to try and blink away whatever it was in them the cold air hit them, freezing the tears in their place.
The burning was gone within seconds and all Denah could see was the green blaring at her like headlights of a car racing towards her. Panting heavily was the only thing she had enough control to do.
She had just switched to a green Witch, she had spent her entire life as a blue Witch, all throughout her training she had watched as the others moved up, here she was now, almost ten years of training and she had finally gotten onto the second level of a Witch's magic.
The prospect of it scared her shitless, she had never whielded such power before, the responsibility of it had her stomach flipping.
The next crack thundering down from the sky had her jumping inside her own skin, this was not her.
She needed someone, anyone to know this was not her, no one was listening.
but someone was watching, and really watching. Denah met the pair of eyes from before. He knew.
Denah didn't know nor did she care how he knew, but he did and that was enough.
And that in itself was enough for her to try and gain control, she had to for she feared what would happen if she didn't.
Calling out to the magical side of herself she at first got no answer, mentally closing her eyes she thought of words of her mentors.
if they do not listen to you, make them listen to you
and she did, screaming loud she took control of it, grabbing the magic by the balls, it withered in her grip. Jumping back into the consciousness of her own body, she felt the weight of her arms, legs and the warm press of soil between her toes.
She wobbled on her feet as her ground continued to shake, the two wolves were still stalking her, gaunting and snapping their teeth in preparation.
Fear rattled her ribs, knocking her breathing into an unsteady rhythm she felt her control slip. The serpentine body of her magic slithered out of her grasp, slipping past her finger's defences as it poured out from her palms.
The green mist that pooled by her feet seemed to prowl with confidence, it took up its own presence and emanuated raw pure magic.
The two wolves slowed in their stalking, communicating through a language Denah didn't understand she watched with bated breath as they halted completely.
She could feel herself losing complete control of her situation,
"Please" she breathed
She meant no ill-intention to any of these wolves, she simply wanted to get away so she could go to the members of The Order, they would want to know of the event that took place at the Training Coven.
She didn't know if something higher up was finally listening to her but a small tier of relief flooded through her when the wolves backed off, dragging their paws through the dirt of the earth beneath their feet.
"We don't want to hurt you" The human female shouted to her, over the noise of the hurderling winds still whipping through the trees, hammering into the thick trunks.
Denah palmed the air with the brush of her finger tips, trying to call her magic back to her, the disobedient creature that it was it stood its ground, still infront of her.
A small growl bubbled from the wolf off to her right somewhere.
"I can't control it" Denah admitted into the air as loud as she could,
The other creatures looked at her differently this time, a look of reluctant realisation washed over many of their features, the two wolves turned to stop next to their pack mates sides, the human female now had the same wolf at her side once more.
The enlarged animals stood like a brick wall in front of her, shoulders held high, The elongated body stretched out to shield her completely so it was only her stomach upwards that was visible.
The girl dragged her hand down the beast's head, but brushed past him despite his reluctance and grumbles of disapproval.
A couple of the taller boys also tried to grab hold of the human female as she shouldered her way through their group. She was shorter than the majority of them but it was clear by the way she carried herself through the group, she held an important role within this tight knit pack.
Denah tried to deter the girl as she started walking straight in her direction, she didn't know what her magic would do if the girl came closer.
"We are not going to hurt you" she whispered again, the Green mist rolled over itself and Denah panicked.
The girl held her hands up by her head in surrender. The oversized guard dog could be seen watching Denah over the human shoulder. It's front lip curled up, showcasing the rows of sharp canines sharpened into blades which Denah had no doubt they could shred through her flesh within seconds.
"How do I know?" Denah asked, The girl froze
"They hurt us, captured us in big nets,” the screams of her roommates prattled through Denah’s head, the burning stence of their flesh still a recent memory at the forefront of her mind.
A wave of unease and confusion washed over the group,
"Who?" The human female asked softly, hand still raised by her head.
The green began to fade and the wind grew to a small whistle. Denah nudged her head in the direction of the supernatural creatures behind her, "Their kind, came in the night attacked us" dropping her hands to her side Denah felt a rush of heat hit her as her magic hid back within the concealment of her skin.
"You're from one of the Training Covens" A orotund voice spoke.
Denah studied the bodies of the wolves as they all turned to watch an elderly woman saunter out from the trees, with two much larger men flanking her. Denah could see the similarity in the men's facial features as they practically mirrored that of a couple of the younger male wolves standing in the huddle. A quick glance between them all confirmed her suspicions.
The two watched her over the little old lady's shoulder, not that it was much of an issue─ they towered over her with little effort.
The aged women cast her enthralled stare in Denah's direction, she got the sense this woman was much like herself, the women smirked blinking, Denah parted her lips in a small gasp when the women's eyes turned the purest shade of white.
"What level are you?" The White Witch asked softly,
"B─" She coughed, dislodging the lump at the back of her throat, she now had to remind herself of her new current development "Just turned Green"
She could feel the eyes of all the other creatures ripping into her skin, the stares burning her with every second they lasted on her figure standing alone.
That all she was, and has ever been,
Alone.
"So, you're still only a Witchling, How long have you been in training?" The White Witch watched her with a slight tilt in her head, scanning the girl's arms for any hint of the colour of her magic.
Denah closed her eyes over, somehow comforted by the all too familiar feeling of tear coated lashes on her upper cheek.
"Ten years" she barely managed to choke out, it was a brittle sound.
Her answer seemed to stump the White White, everyone stood there watching her as she observed the ground at her feet, deep into the depth of her own thoughts.
No Witchling stayed in the training of that many years and stayed on the first level of magic. Something wasn't sitting right with Akemi.
She took a quick glance at the Beta and Delta over her two shoulders, subtly nodding at them as she stepped out of their vicinity. Walking straight for the other Witch.
Denah flinched back when the White Witch reached for her arm, hiding it behind her back she shuddered when the ripple of her magic rolled over her skin.
Akemi didn't move however, extending her hand out and she waited for the Witchling to make up her mind. Denah waited for her magic to resurface─ it didn't.
Hesitantly, she held out her arm for the elderly Witch to take, a flow presented itself on the Elderly Witch's face when she grasped Denah's arm just below the elbow.
A building engulfed in flames of orange and yellow burned bright, blocking out the other colours in the sky. From the depths of darkness a women appeared, veins as black as the night. She walked across the flames, untouched by their grasp, skin cealed in a protection of her own sheer force of will. With arm extended out at her sides, the female walked toward her, a deadly smirk plaguing her lips with full onyx eyes. Akemi had never seen such a thing…
Retracting her hand with a gasp Akemi shot the Beta and Delta another look, one which she tried to keep from the younger members of the pack, they would only be all to inquizitive, and that was not something she was willing to deal with right now.
Akemi cast the girl with another one of her emotionless looks. She had seen the changes that would happen to this girl, looking into the future of those she touched was never a gift Akemi had particularly liked, but it seemed to be coming in handy these days.
If what she had seen from touching the female vampire a couple weeks ago was true...
Akemi knew they would need all the help they could get. Something about this Witch had sparked a sense of familiarity in her, it made sense now. Akemi had seen her in the vision she had from touching Trinity's arm.
She studied the girl as she studied her, Akemi didn't know how this girl, a Witch on the lowest levels, went to that.
"Girls" Akemi called over her shoulder,
Denah's attention caught onto the movement of one of the wolves and the human female as they stepped closer,
"Take her back upstairs" the White Witch turned her head over her shoulder catching the worried looks of Wooyoung and Yeosang, lowering her head and raising her voice.

Warning: fighting scene but nothing too gruesome or detailed. Swearing, partial mention of bullying.
The soft material of the blanket thrown over Denah's waist was the only comfort she had while she lay restless in the late hours of the morning.
Arm slung over her eyes she huffed, an uneasy coiling sensation in her belly had her sitting awake all night. Kicking the blanket off her legs she relished in the feeling as the cold air hit the bare skin.
The shadows in her room were the only company she had, despite the noise of the trees outside, groaning a warning she did not yet understand, for a danger she did not yet comprehend.
The orange flicker of fire light drew Denah's attention to the small window at the end of her dormitory, Sitting up she swung her legs off the bed. The spring squealed when they were relieved of her weight.
She did not need light as she navigated her way around the other beds spaced around the room, the other girls emitting soft snores as they slept peacefully.
Denah stiffened when the wooden floor creaked underfoot. Looking around she waited for one of the sleeping bodies to stir, none did.
Turning back around she raised her foot, biting into her lip as she willed the floor not to protest back at her. Finally reaching the door she flattened her palms against the surface, smooshing her cheek against the glass to look out the small window.
There was no light, no movement, drawing her face back to go to bed to try and get a little bit of sleep. She jumped when a bloody hand hit against the window. The hand smacked against it a couple times, seemingly pleading with her to open the door. She was stricken with fear, so the door was left unopened. When the hand disappeared, a low growl made it's may through the thick, magic locked door, to her ears. A simmer of curiosity welded in her chest, looking through the window Denah's eyes widened in horror at the sight, a huge wolf with a coat as dark as the shadows was prowling towards, what Denah assumed was the owner of the bloody hand. One of her mentors, she realised, the sickening thought rolled in next, why hadn't she opened the door? How did a wolf get in?
Then the wolf leaned back into its haunches before launching itself at her mentor, she pulled back, she didn't want to see what happened next.
Taking a couple of panicked steps back, Denah yelped when she hit the metal bed post. A few of the girls woke from the noise, many of them had grown used to being light sleepers.
"Denah?"
Her head snapped in the direction of the voice, the girl who's bed she had bumped into had sat up, staring at her with a look of half annoyance and concern. A few lights were switched on around the room as each of the other girls woke from their blissful slumbers Denah had never had the pleasure of experiencing.
She frantically waved at them to switch their lights off and stay quiet, her panic just made them more curious, words would not come to her aid as she hurried around the room hurriedly switching off the lights. Holding a finger up to her lips she again tried to make them quiet.
All eight of them were frozen watching the youngest of the group as she crept back to her own bed, hiding underneath it. The feeling of nostalgia pricked her senses, trying to block everything out she didn't notice as one of the girls, Betty her name was, walked up to the door.
The others watched her while one of the girls leaned down to check on Denah, When Betty took in what was happening outside, she did not share the same reaction with Denah, instead she lifted up her arms, her veins firing to life, the green seeping into them, the iris of her eyes matching the colour.
She locked her arms in front of her before waving her hands down the lock, opening the door. When it did finally swing open and the noise from outside invaded, screaming, yelling, howling were all mixed into the useless warnings coming from the trees.
The same black wolf flew through seconds later, Betty tried to use her magic to defend herself but it was useless, the beast had snagged her in it's tight vice like jaws, dragging her by her leg out the room. The other girls ran to aid their friend but it was too late, the wolf was much faster and dragged the screaming teenage Witch down the hallway.
The room was swept into partial silence as the seven older girls ran out to try and help Betty, leaving the youngest Witch of their room alone still cowering under her bed.
Head pressed down on the wooden floor board Denah welcome the coldness as it cooled down her body temperature. The yells and screams of her roommates were slowly travelling further away until it just stopped. Silence plague the air, weighing hard on Denah's breathing.
Denah froze, fearful that if she moved something or someone may hear her, feeling hunted like the prey of a top predator, she felt a pang in her chest when she remembered she was supposed to be the top predator.
The noise of claws on wood moved towards her, the wolf was coming back, did it know she was here?
Clasping a hand over her mouth she tried to muffle the sound of her laboured breathing, totally unaware the wolf could hear every single panicked beat of her heart.
The moving stopped, her heart stopping with it. She needed to know if it was there, in the room with her but the terror still had a firm grip on her throat pinning her to the wooden ground.
She needed to do something, she needed to help her friends. Dare she call them friends, more classmates─ no they were... just people she shared the same species classification with. She shared rooms with them, she trained with them but they were nothing more to her than meaningless things that would be gone in a few years. Her longing for that was strong, it was her dream to go and experience the world and be free of her own kind, it was the only dream she could ever really be comforted by.
The desire to see that ambition followed drove her to her feet, using her hands she pushed herself backwards out from under the bed. Readying herself for the unknown she felt the ripple of her magic as it rolled down her arms, reaching her finger tips. Giving the veins a quick glance she still was amazed by the blue colour they glowed, it was fascinating, and scary in a way. The responsibility that came with having such powerful blood had weighed on her shoulder being the only female amongst her siblings. She was pained at the memory of them.
Going to the doorway she stuck her head out first, the other dorm's doors had been pried open by the looks of it, deep scratch marks were embedded in the metal. She wanted to cower back into the room at the sight of them, this was definitely Werewolves doing.
How on earth had they even gotten in, how had they found them. The barrier was supposed to keep them hidden, their location was unknown to all. There was no possible way for them to find or get through unless they had a Witch, which was impossible. Witches didn't pick sides, not willingly anyway.
Stepping out she winced when the floorboard creaked. If she stopped at every noise it would take her years to get out the hallway, it was old and decaying anyway. Clamping down on her nerves she pushed on until her whole body was in the hallway.
Walking down she kept her magic ready at the tips of her fingers, lucky she met no disturbances, peeking her head out to look into the courtyard, the sight made her heart plummet, burying itself deep within her stomach.
All eight of her roommates were screaming, Great big Iron nets had been thrown over them, tendril of smoke coming off their skin, the smell of burning flesh perpuntated the air mingling with the fresh scent of the surrounding pine trees.
Denah's eyes were wide with shock, fear and worry, it only tripled ten fold when she caught the eye of a man stood, guarding the gate entrance of their homes. He had a staff in hand, with what looked to be a bullet hole scar in the once smooth skin on the back of his hand. Scar were also marrying the left side of his face, it crawled down his neck and Denah wondered just how far down the scar ran.
He pointed a croaked, twisted finger at her, "Bring me that one, we need her"
Shit.
Flinging out the door, Denah leapt down the steps landing hard she struggled to not fall onto to her knees,
"Denah!"
The voice was pained and cracked as it screamed her name, it was one of the girls writhing in pain under the netting.
Glancing just behind the net Denah saw the scarred man smirking at her, he saw her confliction, he laughed at it, he sent forth two big wolves one a light tanned colour the other a dark bronze.
The other girls looked to Denah, their only hope to get out of whatever it was they were dragged into. Ever girl under those nets knew of the trouble Denah faced when using her magic, they had mocked her for it and yet they all were so quick to forget the torture they had put Denah when they needed her.
The notion of them needing her was more appealing to Denah than actually helping them. Nonetheless Denah would not be the person that condemned them to a fate they did not deserve. They had been cruel to her in their years at the training coven but they did not deserve whatever was in store for them at the hands of these wolves. The years of history was taught to them all while in the Training Covens, over the course of a century the Witches had not been treated fairly by the other creatures, why would that change now.
Denah tethered her soul to the past words of her mentors,
Breathe, embrace the magic, let it flow through you, call out to it, do not push it away, envision it, picture what you want it to do, if it does not listen, make it listen to you.
For the first time in a long time Denah made her magic listen to her, she envisioned the blue droplets of her blood running through her, picturing how it had run through all the veins of the women in her bloodline, the blood of them all flowed through her now, and as if calling upon her ancestors, Denah smiled when they answered.
Clenched fist held out she used her magic to grasp the netting, throwing her arm up in a snap of a motion the netting tore off the bodies of the suffering Witches. Many of them lay still, while others sprung, anger fueling their blood, throwing around their magic in pure unhinged rage, Denah watched on as everything turned into a flurry of violet, blue, green and small specs of white.
The Wolves doubled back on the now freed Witches, trying to rally the teenage girls back under the nets. The two who were still charging at Denah were held up as Betty and another Witch from Denah's room grabbed them with their magic, Denah caught Betty's gaze.
The other Witch watched Denah while she held off the wolf, yelling at her to run. They may have been horrible to the younger girl, but if anyone could get away and get help it was Denah.
A flicker of hesitation and conflict flashed on Denah's features; she wanted to stay and fight beside her fellow Witches. The presence of her magic hollowing itself away had her second guessing her ability to aid in the fighting, the colour in her veins had already begun to fade.
Meeting Betty's gaze across the courtyard, Denah had no time to yell out a warning as a wolf ran at her from behind, the wolf became a burly shoulder man and grabbed Betty from behind, un-checked panic flooded her face, losing grip of her magic she thrashed around in the guys hold, trying hopelessly to break free.
He brought a syringe up to her neck, jabbing into the skin without a care of harming her, he injected the Witch with the substance they were given by the boss, her body went limp in her arms.
Denah felt her blood turn to ice inside the veins of her body, stiffening up she looked on as the man dropped Betty carelessly to the floor, as if she were no more than a discarded piece of cloth.
He sneered when he looked up, exchanging a look with the dark bronze wolf, who was rising from the ground. The man nudged his head in her direction and the ice began to thaw fast.
Spinning with the weight in her heel, she turned her back on those she had been trained with. Running to the back wall of their home where she knew there was a small exit.
The exposed soft skin on the pads of her feet were rubbed raw by the stone underfoot as she ran, hissing away the pain, she put on a half exhausted smile when she saw the small rift in the barrier.
Lunging for it she jolted back when the bronze wolf prowled right in the way, blocking it. Saliva dripped from the sharp elongated canines when the wolf snapped it's jaw. Denah clenched hers, when she tried to call upon her magic, it cowered. Much like her it prefered to hide away, to stay in the dark.
It stalked her, like it would it's prey and Denah quickly realised with a sickening efficiency so vile she felt the content of her stomach flip, she was the prey.
When it moved she yelped, scurrying to the side, arms raised to protect herself, surprisingly her magic surged to life, putting a blue force between the two of them.
The Creature backed off, observing it with a tilted head. Sniffing at it, the wolf whined and scurried away, it's nose twitching, rubbing it's snout with its paw.
The trees on the other side of the barrier groaned and wailed with the wind, the calls sounded desperate in her head, something inside was trying to decode their language.
Run.
Dropping the body shield in surprise when the voice spoke in her head, Denah's eye widened when the wolf doubled back teeth bared at her in a crude snarl. Heaving her body into action she dashed for the gap in the barrier.
When she passed through it she felt the change in her, passing through Witch barriers were never pleasant. A nauseous feeling rolled at the back of her throat. Falling back onto her ass she watched the wolf try to squeeze through after her.
Run.
There was that voice again, looking around in search of the owner she frowned, no one was in sight. The wolf growled in anger, snapping its jaws towards her ankles. Pulling them to her body she studied the wolf, and was enraged she could see it, feel it.
A sickly feeling hit her and she took a step back to steady herself, hand tracing the skin on her forehead to ease the dull ache building behind her eyes.
A lone howl erupted from behind her, whipping to face it her heart plummeted, the wolf was gone.
Run. Now.
Maybe hearing voices meant Denah was slowly descending into madness, she didn't know what was worse,
That she was hearing voices
or
that she was listening to them.
The shorts and oversized shirt she wore did nothing to protect her as she ran, barefoot through the woods. Leaf litter and other debris coating the forest floor pierced the soft padding of her already sensitive feet. The soil was cold and wet because of the heavy rain from the night before, the wind whipped and screamed in her ears, the sound of the passing tree made her ear drums pop painfully.
The morning sun rose to greet her, the wind howled and a chill ran down her back, making the skin want to shiver. The wind was accompanied by another kind of howl, one that was catching up fast.
Every part of her body burned, blood boiling while it struggled to supply enough to keep her going, she would need salt soon. Denah had to force herself not to think of what would happen if she didn't get something salty.
The building ache in the front of her legs made it difficult to balance as she stumbled on her every step, tripping up once had her rolling down a slope, her now ruined pjs were stuffed with picked up leaves, soil and sticks.
Her lungs wheezed in protest while Denah struggled to force air into them, stabilizing herself on her hands and knees her body swayed when a wave of dizziness pounded inside her head.
Rustling of leaves came from the top of the incline she had just toppled down, the wolves were upon her. Retching out a pained mewl Denah drove her hands into the ground, propelling herself up onto her numb feet.
Sweat beaded and bald above her eyebrow line, weakening she pushed the longing for salt to the back of her mind. Her steps slowed and became heavy, trudging hard into the earth beneath them.
The air seemed to shift around her, drawing her breath from within her chest, she held tightly to the tree next to her. With her back to the trunk, eyes screwed shut, she panted, trying not to give into the deluge of sleep creeping up on her.
Snuffling in the undergrowth behind where she stood, made the ice return to her veins. It would only be a matter of seconds before the wolves managed to sniff her out.
Frantically she called, again and again to her power, begging it to listen to her, it refused her calls.
Leg shaking with nerves, she leaned down into a crouch, bringing her hands up, if she was going to survive she needed to fight, with magic or not.
Denah peaked out from her hiding place, she severely wished she hadn't when she met a pair of beady orange eyes.
Dropping, Denah crawled back, fingers digging into the dirt, the beast stalked her, jaw hanging open. Fighting all but gone out the window, Denah drew in one last breath when the wolf was meters away, she could feel the tickle of it's fur against her cheek.
It teased her with it's glowing eyes, staring her into submission. Moments from the end forced Denah to close her eyes over, rolling over to accept her fate.
Two wolves, one a sandy brown the other a dark chocolate colour burst out of nowhere, running straight at the rogue invading their territory.
Denah jumped when the wolf in front of her was bowled out the way, the big sandy brown wolf standing tall, shoulder raised. It had positioned itself between her and the other.
Seeing her chance Denah pushed up, body was uncooperative as it crumbled under her demand, dropping to the floor she was welcomed by the sleep she had tried to suppress not long before.
Yunho didn't move, growling lowely at the rogue that cowered from him. Mingi was off somewhere to his right, in a roll out with another one of the rogues trying to get past them.
The rogues here were significantly smaller than the others they had encountered before today. Yunho jumped forwards slightly when one tried to advance towards Mingi and the other rogue wolf, Mingi had the other wolf pinned to the ground, growling loudly while he snapped his jaws at the rogues's neck, just clipping the skin.
Mingi hopped off, growling at the rogue when it tried doubling back at him, it saw no light being shed of the fight, allowing them to have possession of the Witch.
Mingj moved to stand at Yunho's side, they both covered each other's back while they waited for the rogue's to decide what they were going to do.
One hissed, head dropping low as it retreated back, the others shortly following.
The two waited for the rogues to be out of sight before they moved, turning to search for the girl. She hadn't gotten far, lying front down on the ground, the two approached her.
She's pretty~
Mingi!
What?
Yunho shook his wolf head at his friend, taking a second aside to shift back to his human form Yunho crouched next to the unconscious girls face, using a finger to gently stroke away a piece of her hair.
He had to agree with Mingi, she was pretty, despite being covered in mud, sticks and leaves.
Scooping her up, bridal style he walked at the side of Mingi's wolf, it was safer for one of them to stay shifted in case the rogues came back. They would need to take her back, the rogues must have been after her for some reason, it wouldn't be safe to leave her in the woods unconscious.
Yunho could picture the faces of the other pack member when he waltzed back in with an unconscious girl in his arms.
Utop the incline of the slope, two rogues stood in human form,
"We're going to be in so much shit for this"
"We? you were the one that lost her in the first place" the other grumbled watching the two male shifters walk away with their main prize in their arms.
He didn't like to agree with the other boy, but he was right, they were going to be in so much shit for losing the one person they raided the Coven to find, the boss was not going to be happy, at all.
"Maybe we can hide and never show our faces ever again" one suggested while they started to walk back, readying themselves for the trouble they were about to get in
"Again with the we, there is no we"
"Well, we could be" the former smirked, raising an eyebrow at the other, older rogue wolf.

Warning: slight bit suggestive, mention of almost fatally wounding someone, can't find anything else if missed anything please let me know
A six year old body ran through the trees as fast as her small legs would prohibit her, skipping through at a rapid speed in order to conceal herself from the three boys chasing her.
Scrambling around a rumbled up pile of ashen rocks Denah floundering around trying to hide her tracks from her older brothers. Crouching down, her hands plummeted into the abundance of leaves covering around her ankles, taking handfuls and rubbing them over every piece of her exposed skin.
As she reached to grab another pile to rub over her neck a dark, shadowed hand reached and fisted a small pile of them. The six year old glanced up with a gasp, emitting a small scream at the sight she looked up to see.
A completely onyx coloured Creature was slounched like a folded over bag, its beady eyes barely visible as it studied her. Denah floundered around when she landed on her backside kicking her legs to push herself away from it.
The Creature looked awfully similar to a person as its hands released the leaves and it dived to cover itself within the leaf pile.
Denah didn't have any way to confirm what she had just seen, other than get closer to whatever that thing was. Crawling on all fours she poked the shadowy Creature with a stick she found laying snapped on the ground.
It's head popped out from behind the mound, with curious eyes it watched, just as confused and fascinated as she was.
Young Denah rolled her head to the side, trying to take in the full appearance of the strange Creature in front of her, whatever it was copied her action, twisting its head it moved in her direction, what she assumed was a nose sniffed the air, each time getting the littlest bit closer to her. Denah despite being the age she was, refused to flinch, it was just a curious little Creature after all.
The slick body shifted leaning back onto its goat-like folding legs, tucking them under itself, The swirls of darkness pooled within its eyes, like a fiery darkness they were alive in a sense Denah didn't yet understand, the darkness poured pure power that fought with itself in the enclosed space. It was birthed to stretch and be bound to no soul but it's own.
It was wild like that, Magic, a natural gift given to some, bred into the blood of humans to create the Witch. Like a flame the magic burned within their veins, awaiting its time to set fire to all it touched. It was patient and it was immortal.
The Creature raised its hand into the space between them, a mist of pure onyx swirling around it's leathery skin. The girl crouched in front of it watching with eyes swooning in fascination.
Slowly she raised her own small hand to connect with it, expecting it to be cold, but it wasn't. In fact it was much like the people she loved, with its warmth, and blood flow that pulsed under the skin.
A shock of heat waved through her body, a stream of darkness flowing into the veins on the back of her hand, Denah tracked the movement of the black as it travelled up her veins and dissolved.
Her finger tickled the skin as she dragged it along the where the black had disappeared, the abnormality of the situation should scare her, only it didn't, it beckoned her to learn more.
When Denah outstretched her hand towards the Creature's face, it jerked its head back, eyes narrowing while it continued to watch her with the expression of a sour-faced feline.
"DENAH!" The calls from her brothers snapped her back into reality, their movement drawing her attention over the shoulder of the Creature.
Darian's face hardened and he swung the crossbow from around his shoulder, snapping an arrow into place so profoundly fast Denah barely had time to flinch before he fired.
It struck the Creature from behind, it screeched and Denah coiled back inside her own skin, the big thing spun on her brothers, talons she hadn't noticed before held by its side, poised ready for attack.
Darian let loose another arrow, it cut through the air, The Creature shifted and the arrow flew past, narrowly missing the girl hid behind it,
"Denah Move!" the voice of her other brother, Daesung yelled when he saw that Darian's arrow almost hit her small body.
The young girl watched in horror as Darian, the oldest of all the Cardel children, notched another arrow into place on his crossbow.
"NO!" Denah screamed, she ran around the Creature's towering legs, stopping in front of it, hand held out, a ball of flames rolling between her fingers, her eyes a burning blue, like a raging body of water.
Both brothers cast their look to the little girl, her dangerous aura daring them to do something, anything.
Darian kept his bow aimed between the Creatures eyes, finger snug over the trigger.
When his hardened gaze didn't leave the Creature's body Denah lost utter control over the flame dancing in her palm. She didn't understand why she was suddenly protecting this thing standing behind her, but there was something within it, some Creature within it that felt familiar to her.
The river of fire rushed towards Darian and he barely had time to manoeuvre before it almost engulfed him entirely in its heat, His yell of pain ripped through the air startling both of his sibling,
Denah felt the presence behind her vanish with a rush of air as the Creature slipped back into the shadows, time slowed down entirely as she turned back to watch Daesung drop next to Darian, whos skin and clothes were kissed by fire, pink singed flesh breaking through her met her vision, a scream of panic mixed with heavy sobs cracked through her body, it mixed with Darian pained yells in the heavy air around the Cardel coven house,
Denah jolted up from her bed, the material of borrowed clothing sticking to her ice cold skin as sweat seeped through her every muscles.
Leaned forward Denah dry heaved over the side of the bed at the memory of the night she almost fatally injured her eldest brother, the moment a constant in her head, a reminder of what she─ her magic had done.
So many times before she had clawed at her own flesh, in a distressed attempt to purge her magic from her own veins, it had caused so much pain and suffering for too many people.
A creak in the floor boards made her stop heaving as she looked up, towards the bottom of her bed stood a figure. One shadowed out by the darkness in the room, still panting over the side of the bed Denah narrowed her eyes, then a small gasp left her parted lips─ It was Betty.
The other Witch smiled at her, hands sliding along the bottom of the bed frame, Denah's throat twisted.
A sudden knock at the door made Denah jump, almost tumbling off the side of the mattress, she could sense someone standing there but in her hazard mind, couldn't figure out who it was. When she looked back at Betty, the girl vanished like smoke.
A more urgent knock came from the door breaking Denah's focus. Sliding off the bed she quickened across the room, to the door.
When she pulled the door back she hadn't expected a body to push past her, stepping back for balance she scanned the body of Yunho, his tall stature and broad shoulders tensed as he waltzed into the room.
"What are you doing?" Denah demanded, trying to hide her more than rough appearance before he noticed something.
"I thought..." he trails off, scanning the room as if looking for someone or something. Denah's heart jumps in her chest when he slowly turns to look in her direction, his head twisting down to accommodate for her height.
His eyes soften and concern flits onto his features, "What's wrong?" he steps towards her and Denah's heart lurches out of her chest at the reminder, tears burn to expose themselves and a sob cloggs her airway. She wanted to delay everything to him, but she can't bring herself or find the words to describe what she did to Darian.
Instead the words that leave her lips, do not display in any way the way she is feeling, "I'm fine" She choked on the words and instantly Yunho knew she was lying.
He feels his nostrils flare when he smells the strong scent of her fear, he internally fights with himself to not walk straight up to Denah and take her into his arms, just to know she had that little bit of protection, the feeling welded itself into his chest.
Denah avoided eye contact with the male Werewolf, while he watched she felt her skin prickle in the most pleasurable way possible, she walked around him back towards her bed, eyes scanning the patch of floor where Betty had stood, she swore there were foot imprints in the carpet.
"Are you sure you're okay?" he asked again, a little less restraint in his voice, ignoring the increasing need for her he was feeling built within him. He pushed the feeling as far down as it would go.
Denah rubbed the skin around her forearm as she dropped onto the bed, looking up to meet his stare. "I don't know," she admitted into the air between them.
Yunho frowned at Denah, waiting for her to elaborate on her statement, grasping to the hope she might open up to him.
"I just had a bad...dream was all" biting into her lower lip Denah waited for some kind of reaction, she wasn't used to a pleasant reaction, often the other girls at the Training Coven would yell or mock her for still having nightmares, getting mad at her when she wouldn't stop crying, she got used to the silent tears that soaked her pillow most nights.
"I'm just going to try and get some more sleep..." she added when he didn't give up any reaction, other than staring at her with a look of concern.
The male nodded, assuming she wanted him to leave. Eyes scanning the shadows of the room one last time, searching for the person he swore was in the room with Denah.
"Wait"
Denah nearly hauled herself from the bed when he began to walk away, she didn't know why "Can you please...stay?"
Yunho looked at her, not with confusion but instead with a look Denah didn't quite understand, he nodded, walking back to the bed without giving up any words he sat on the other side.
Denah watched his every step, her eyes trailing up and down his torso marvelling at the way he moved, pushing backwards with her feet she layed down, pulling the duvet up to her chin, snuggling into the warmth of the pillow rested under her head.
Yunho tapped his thigh lightly with his finger, avoiding looking down at her frame layed next to him, the air was silent as if they both were waiting for the other to say or do something, neither moved or said anything.
Denah felt the magic within her shift, warming her back─ the side of her closest to Yunho. She allowed it to take control of her willingly, scooting back till her back was pressed to his side.
He stiffened upon her contact, finally chancing a glance down at her, his breath hitched, eyes travelling over every detail of her taking in everything they saw, she was a terribly beautiful thing. The most beautiful thing he had ever laid eyes on.
"I-" she cut herself off, second guessing herself, "I feel safe when you're here"
Her confession hit him harder than he expected it would, it meant she was feeling something from their mate bond and that stirred the Wolf inside him, the Creature practically jumping from pure unbridled joy.
"Good night Yunho" she added, sleep drifting into her tone,
"Night, Denah"
This moment kick-started something within him, he felt it almost locked into place inside his chest, they could be like this for the rest of their lives, they were meant to─ fate had decided it for them, Yunho wanted that. He was so genuinely happy fate had taken his destiny, their destiny into its hands.
A heat and build of pressure grew within him, the Wolf inside seeming to grow stronger, feeling his desires growing. Everything running down to between his legs grew painful as he denied himself everything he so badly wanted, his brothers had been right.
Having his mate this close, while he was starting his first heat was growing increasingly harder by the second, he needed to leave right now, or he risked hurting her and that would kill him if he did.
Yunho groaned when he moved, he needed to get out of here, he never should have come to her room in the first place.

When Denah woke the next morning, she was saddened to not find Yunho on the bed next to her.
Sitting up, she scanned the room, hoping to see him sitting around possibly on one of the chairs littered around the guest room. She didn't realise it was possible to become even more upset then she already was when she realised he wasn't even in the room.
Parting her lips to emit a sigh of disappointment, she slid from the bed. Leaving the room in search of the tall Werewolf, attempting to ignore the patch of carpet where Betty had stood the night before.
It a was only a bad dream, Denah kept chanting to herself as she passed the spot
A Horrible memory. The internal voice in her head replied, it wasn't Yunho's voice like she had wanted, instead it was the dry rough voice from before. Shaking her head Denah tried to rid her mind of it all, everything would be okay she could stay here for a while then when the heat from the rogues died down she would leave this pack and go in search of her family.
So Denah started looking for the giant, checking his room first, knocking as she waited for him to come to the door, there was no answer. It felt like an invasion of his privacy, but she tried the door handle, pushing the unlocked door open. Even more disappointment settled itself down into the pit of her stomach when she didn't see his tall figure anywhere in sight.
What was even worse was Denah couldn't even feel his presence within the house at all. The Witch didn't know why the lack of his presence made her feel weird but it did, an unsettling crawl of ice climbed her spine, causing her to physically shiver.
Yunho was probably just out doing patrols, it would be fine. Heading in the direction of the stairs Denah started dropping down them, towards the kitchen where she could hear the light rustle of morning chatter and food making.
Suki, Tia, Jongho and Mingi and Seonghwa were all sat in the room, with two adult females who were sat at the back of the room.
"Morning Denah, sleep well?" Tia asked softly, taking a swig from her rounded mug.
What Denah answered the question with surprised her, "Good, I slept rather well" it was the first time in a long time Denah had slept peacefully,
Suki made a comment about the mattresses in the pack house being extremely comfy but Denah was too in deep with her thoughts to make and acknowledge comment,
"Is Yunho around?" she asks instead, catching them off guard, each of them freezing.
"Why?" Jongho asked, leaning back in his chair, so he could see her clearly,
Suddenly she felt like she had done something wrong, rubbing her forearm once more Denah looked down, "Well he came to my room last night..."
The atmosphere took a dark turn, the youngest sharing almost panicked looks with each other before looking at the two women sitting at the back of the kitchen.
"Are you okay? He didn't..." Mingi spoke trailing off at the end of his sentence, causing Denah's worry to turn to confusion.
"He didn't do what?"
One of the ladies at the back rose from her seat, she was short but kindness shone through in her smile and soft eyes, when Denah met her gaze she knew almost instantly that she was related to Yunho in some way.
The adult female shifter ignored the looks from the younger pack member as she took Denah gently by the elbow, pulling her lightly across the room to take a seat on the chairs.
From there Denah offered a smile to Suki and Tia, who sat near to her at the kitchen's island, " He just stopped by when I woke from a bad dream was all" She said almost spectically into the air of the kitchen, catching how the three males in the room breathed out giving each other not to subtle looks.
They really had to get better at hiding when they were hiding something. Denah thought to herself watching the adult female as she seemed to float around the room on air, on instinct moving from one place to the next, bringing over a plate of food for Denah,
"It's nice to know my son still has his good nature"
Still has his good nature. What did she mean? Denah for some innate reason felt like she should ignore that part of the statement, it twisted her chest in some strange way until she felt like she couldn't breath, instead she chose to focus on the other key part of the women's comment.
"Yunho is your son?" Taking the bacon roll Denah bit into it, resisting the groan of satisfaction as the juice swirls around in her mouth, tastebuds being attacked in the most glorious way.
"Yeah, I know it's hard to believe he came out of me with how tall he is" She chuckled ─ "He certainly got that from his father" The older she-wolf smiled to herself at the image of her son's father and her mate, speaking of whom, she could sense walking towards them with the Pack's Beta wolf, Seonghwa's father.
Denah is taking a couple more bites from the bacon roll, this time groaning, it was cooked to perfection just as her mother once had. The crisp around the edge which held the majority of the flavour bursting with taste as she bit into it.
Two of the males, a couple of the boys fathers that she recognised from the other day wandered in, Yunho's father walking to stand at his mates side as Seonghwa looked at his own father in question, the older wolf passed his son, moving to address the room entirely
"I suppose you all heard the news, '' he said, locking his arms over his chest, the stretch of his shoulder muscles visible beneath his clothes, reminding Denah a lot of Seonghwa, his son.
A solemn air befell the children of the Fedora pack, Denah frowned, turning around looking at each of their faces, okay there definitely was something no one was telling.
"I get I'm not apart of this Pack─"
Yet.
The rough voice spoke in her head, cutting Denah from her sentence, again when the voice spoke Denah couldn't help the chill and ripple of magic that strumbed through her in waves of goosebumps.
Suki frowned, lightly touching Denah's arm when she stopped talking, causing the other girl to seemingly come back to life, continuing her sentence without a word or acknowledgment.
"But I feel like I have a right to know what's going on"
For some sickening feeling coiling in her lower belly Denah had the briefest of ideas that whatever they were not telling her had something to do with the boy who had wandered into her room last night.
The Beta looked back at his son, "You haven't told her?"
The boy who looked as if he was sitting in a courtroom, in a defendant's box, frowned at those around him, "We were going to..."
"Right" the Beta started, nodding as he pivoted back to Denah, the Witch watching him with expecting eyes, awaiting the announcement. The knot tightened in her stomach
"The Rogue's who attacked you were here last night"
That had not been what she was expecting, nor what she wanted to hear. Denah couldn't quite decide if that was because it wasn't about Yunho. Although she didn't want to hear that the Wolves who had tried to kill her were obviously looking for her, she couldn't help the disappointment that hurdled through her chest when Yunho was not brought up.
"We picked up on their scent this morning, they like to travel in their wolf forms, probably for protection" Jongho added the wooden chair he sat on creaked when he leaned back,
The knowledge that they were searching for her should scare Denah more than it did, not knowing why they were after her scared her even more. What they would do to her made even her magic recoil from some hidden place within her
Suki suddenly clapped her hands together, catching the attention of the Delta who only smirked down at her, Suki knew exactly where this was going.
"You know what this means?" Suki turned back around, facing her brothers, each of them sighing in exhausted realisation.
Denah shared a confused look with Tia who was sitting right next to Suki ─ who was practically by this point vibrating with excitement, the she-wolf's smirk darkened into a wicked grin.
