"The Morning and The Food"

You wake up in your bed, you're tucked in with your favorite blanket. You look around the room to try to find Dad. He is hunched over the barred up window, he's mumbling again but you can't hear it this time. You sit up to ask if he's okay.

"Dad?... Are you okay?" Dad turns toward you, and when he does, his eyes weirdly catch the light. Like the stray cat you used to feed with Dad. You blink and it's gone.

"Good morning, kiddo. I'm fine now." He says his voice is rough and sounds like gravel crunching under your shoes. It's not his usual morning voice...

"Can I see your arm?" You ask, and Dad flinches at your voice. He moves the arm behind him to hide the wound.

"It's healing fine, thank you, kiddo. Dad can handle it now." He smiles, but it doesn't look right.

"Come on, kid, I gotta make some breakfast for us." Dad is already walking towards the door when he points to the clothes he left on the bed for you to change into.

Once you're down the stairs and headed towards the table you see the plate of scrambled eggs and beef sausage, across from it in the middle of the table is a bowl of fruit and some salad.

"Sorry, kiddo. Go ahead and begin eating, Dad. Ugh… Dad needs a bit before he can sit down." He groans in pain while he talks. You run towards the kitchen. Dad is on his knees next to the counter with blood on his hands and face. There is half a steak left on the counter next to the stove. It's bleeding onto the plate with a skinny brown layer on the outside.

"Dad!" You yell, he flinches back, you think it's from his fall. You touch his good arm to ground him from the pain. He's burning up again... his fever is back.

"Dad, listen, we gotta go to bed right now. You don't feel good." You try to reason with him. Dad shakes his head, saying something about protecting and providing for you. You grab the hand towel on the stove handle and wipe the blood off of his face and hands.

You grab his hand and drag him into his room and onto his bed. Dad is sweating a lot, so you cover him with blankets. That was what he did for you when you were sick. He has to "sweat it out." He's asleep by the time you bring another blanket from your room.

Dad begins mumbling in his sleep again. "Keep kid close... don't take them..." You go back down to the dining room to eat your breakfast. You think back to how it used to be, before Miss Maggie, before moving to the edge of town where no one else is, before your dad became so smothering.

You come back to his room with a cold rag to place on his forehead. When you set it down he grabs your wrist.

"You didn't leave the house, right? Kiddo, you can't leave..." He goes back to sleep and loosens his grip on your wrist. You yank your hand away and leave the room to go to your own room. What else can you do? You're just a kid. You curl into a ball and start to cry, wanting your dad to be okay and normal again. What did you do to make everything like this? Tears and snot cake your pillowcase by the time you fall asleep again.

Gonna draw a single dad, who’s a werewolf. However he hates being a werewolf because he likes gardening and constantly digs up his own flowers, but this gives him an excuse to talk to the flower shop owner a lot and they both have crushes on each other and their kids try and set them up.

What can I say, I like cryptids doing wholesome and mundane things.

Cain looks like he is absolutely about to lose his shit at all times and that’s at least like 40% true but he’s also frowning because he’s trying to mentally juggle doctor’s appointments and remember his kids’ extremely complicated McDonalds orders. In some AUs he goes into the woods and does not come back.

LUKE GARROWAY IS SO UNDERAPPRECIATED!

He is such an amazing character. He was a Shadowhunters, he grew up with their mindset but then was stabbed in the back by the one person he was supposed to rely on, got turned into one of the creatures he had prejudices against, got shunned by his family because of said prejudices, unlearnt all of it, had to deal with not having his marks, not being able to wield his blade, learned to control his new abilities, then live amongst people who he probably considered beneath him, found love and support in a woman who could hardly return it for her own reasons, became one of the most kind-hearted and compassionate characters and when push came to shove, he became the alpha, went back to his old life, faced his family and parabatai again, collaborated to make the shadow world a better place, all in addition to being the father of the century.

Like, an entire season could be dedicated to Luke’s life after he was turned into a werewolf and it’ll be epic. I’m not saying he is a perfect person or a perfect character, no, he makes mistakes. But that’s what makes him even better of a character.

Not to mention Isaiah Mustafa is a gift to this world and we’re lucky he’s our Luke.
