One thing I always loved about the White Gloves is that not EVERYONE is a cannibal. In fact, it’s an extremely small minority. Most of the people at the ultraluxe, while creepy, just want to do their job and provide a good experience for their rich patrons.
Not only that, but the game punishes you if you DO assume it’s a cannibal colony. If you run up to Marjorie and say “HEY I’M A CANNIBAL.” She’s like “Dude what the FUCK I’m just the concierge.”
Like every plot about the apocalyptic cannibal community is the same; The hero has to defeat the leader (Possibly the whole town) often while rescuing the next meal. But the ultraluxe kind of twists it. Instead, the plotline of the ultraluxe is to influence the cannibal colony so it either stomps out the urge or fully embraces it. Not only that, but the next meal (who in other examples is always an innocent poor victim who doesn’t deserve such a fate) is sort of an asshole, and his father ironically controls the supply of meat in the region. It’s a great variation on familiar territory and, as with many other story elements of New Vegas, provides the player with a tremendous sense of role playing and control over the world of the story.
By the way if some of the words I said sound slightly muffled it’s because I spend all day and night sucking New Vegas’s cock.
