Wesley "Wes" Collins is the son of a Weapons manufacturer whose goods go straight to the Capitol. He's the cousin of Alex Drake, the golden, successful boy of the family, and the fiancé of Jenifer Scotts, his crush.
Jennifer "Jen" Scotts wants to be a peacekeeper so she can help keep things in order and protect those that can't protect themselves... even if that would be rather un-peacekeeper-like in the eyes of many, including some of the Capitol.
They met when Alex introduced her to the family, and Wes made sure to strike up a friendship with her, while making sure his feelings wouldn't get in the way of their friendship or her and Alex's relationship.
When the reaping came around, kids of all ages were betting on who would be getting the honor to be reaped. Wes and his family weren't like that; no one wanted to get reaped.
Until Alex's name was drawn.
And Wes volunteered, mainly for Jen's sake. Until that came crashing down when her name got drawn.
Now, he has to do everything to make sure Jen survives the games so she can get back home and to Alex... while making sure he doesn't reveal his feelings for her.
Which is harder than he thought.
And he isn't the only one doing the protecting, he soon came to realize.

Technically not connected to the TayCole AU, if you want it to, you can connect it. This would be closer to the actual book/movie, though with still obvious differences.
With the TayCole one, those two were in the Quarter Quell, and the twist is that there can be two victors, but they must be the tributes from the same district.
The one that Jen and Wes are in is the regular Hunger Games.
...Also, no one told him that Jen called the engagement between her and Alex off, so he's giving himself angst in that regard for now reason lol
