In an alternate universe, where he was given the life he deserved ❤️
JACKSON J. GENRETTE.. who was born to the richest Kooks on the island of the Outer Banks. He was the son of Larissa Genrette and Chandler Groff. However, his father took off as soon as Jackson was born, so he was raised by his mother and grandfather - Wes Genrette.
JACKSON J. GENRETTE.. who was the literal 'golden boy' of Figure 8. Everyone knew him, whether they were Kook or Pogue. He was always sweet, polite, charming and he treat women well - something his mother had always wanted him to learn, as his father clearly wasn't.
JACKSON J. GENRETTE.. who wanted nothing to do with his father, not because he left him, but because he left his mother. He was a total Mama's boy, who adored and looked up to her.
JACKSON J. GENRETTE.. who, despite his friends, respected and was nice to the Pogues. He didn't treat them any differently, just because of their social status or how much money they had. His mother had raised him to treat everyone equally, no matter what.
JACKSON J. GENRETTE.. who was best friends with Rafe Cameron. The two did everything together, ever since they'd met at one of Rafe's father's charity balls, at the Country Club - when they were only 7.
JACKSON J. GENRETTE.. who spend most of his time with his friends, out on his yachts and boats, as well as his two jet skis. It was safe to say, he revelled in his spoiled life. He couldn't imagine how the Pogues lived without having as much money as he and the rest of the people on Figure 8 did and it made him admire each and every Pogue.
JACKSON J. GENRETTE.. who goes with Rafe to collect the drugs from Barry. The two would show up on their expensive dirt bikes and pay, very handsomely, for the biggest batch possible.
JACKSON J. GENRETTE.. who was always super careful when he bought or took drugs, as his mother would have a heart attack if she knew what her son was up too. He'd smoke weed; do lines of cocaine; smoke marijuana.. he wasn't picky.
JACKSON J. GENRETTE.. who went to every single party on the island with Rafe and the rest of his Kook friends - Topper, Kelce, etc. He would hear word, usually from girls, that one was happening. He would then flash them that charming, sexy smirk of his and they'd fall, telling him everything - I mean come on, they're only human.
JACKSON J. GENRETTE.. who showed up to the party in his favourite black dress shirt, with a few buttons undone, showing off that sexy, tanned, muscular physique beneath his shirt.
JACKSON J. GENRETTE.. who would search the party, alongside Rafe Cameron, for a girl who struck his fancy. He was known for being a bit of a playboy, but he always treated them to breakfast the next day. And if he really liked them, he'd ask them out and treat them better than they'd ever been treated before.
JACKSON J. GENRETTE.. who always spoke and helped out the Pogues who worked on his estate the best he could. He didn't know much about gardening, fixing cars, taking care of his yachts and boats - but he would always help with the heavy lifting. His muscles weren't just for show.
JACKSON J. GENRETTE.. who was secretly affected by his father leaving, before he got a chance to know him, but put on a brave face in front of his mother and grandfather, as well as his friends.
However, as impressive as his act was, you saw straight through JACKSON J. GENRETTE.. and recognised him as a little boy who'd been hurt too young..
summary: in another universe Larissa Genrette didn’t die. instead, she divorced Chandler Groff and gave her child the life he deserved.
warnings: kids fighting; English is not my first language.
author’s note: honestly, I don’t like the fourth season, but I love the idea of JJ being raised in loving family. also, I have no idea how to write headcanons.
· his full name is Jackson John Genrette.
· everyone calls him JJ, except for his mum and grandpa—they call him Jack.
· his mum sometimes calls him Jacky, which he claims to hate (though he secretly doesn’t; he’s just trying to maintain his reputation).
· JJ’s relationship with his mum, is the cornerstone of his life.
· Larissa is JJ’s rock—the person who has always been there for him, no matter what.
· she uses humour to cope with life’s challenges, something JJ inherited from her. they’ve always shared a playful, sarcastic banter that keeps them close.
· despite being busy managing her family’s business and charity work, Larissa always makes time for JJ, whether it’s a late-night chat after a rough day or cheering him on at school events (even when he doesn’t want her there).
· JJ respects his mum more than anyone, but he struggles to show it. he’ll roll his eyes at her lectures and act annoyed when she’s being overprotective, but deep down, he knows she’s his greatest ally.
· his relationship with his father, is far more complicated.
· as a kid, JJ idolized Chandler. he made him feel special, calling him his ‘little man’ and claiming they were a team.
· he manipulated JJ into stealing money from his mum, and his grandpa, saying things like: “your mum and grandpa don’t understand what it’s like for us, Jack. we’re in this together. you’re helping your old man out, and that makes you my hero.”
· when Larissa and Wes found out, there was an explosive argument. JJ overheard everything and realised that his dad had been using him. this shattered his trust and left him deeply betrayed.
· after the incident, JJ kept seeing his dad out of obligation, but as he grew older, he began to resent him. their relationship became strained, and now they barely speak.
· that also affected his relationships with people his age.
· JJ knew everyone—from the Kooks to the Pogues, kids and adults alike. he could interact with them all, but he only called a few people his friends.
· the first lucky person to earn that title was Sarah Cameron.
· JJ and Sarah became friends in first grade. it all started when a boy in their class kept annoying Sarah by pulling her hair. JJ, fed up with the boy’s behaviour, stepped in and pushed him hard enough that he fell and scraped his knee.
· when the principal called JJ’s mum to school to discuss his ‘aggressive behaviour,’ Sarah intervened. she called her dad and told him everything.
· Ward showed up immediately, demanding to speak to the boy’s parents and thanking JJ for standing up for Sarah, even if he admitted JJ’s actions were ‘a bit much’ (and said this right in front of the principal and Larissa).
· that day cemented JJ and Sarah’s friendship. over time, their bond grew stronger, becoming more like a sibling relationship, with JJ always having Sarah’s back no matter what.
· even though their friendship was strong, it didn’t stop him and Rafe from going at each other's throats every time they crossed paths.
· Wheezy on the other hand, loves JJ. being the youngest child with troubled brother and a perfect princess as a sister, she struggled with lack of attention, which JJ happily fulfilled.
· now, you're probably thinking, “what about the Pogues?” well, let me tell you:
· John B and JJ met when they were around ten, at some charity event JJ's mum had organized.
· John B and his dad were there to help carry things—well, mostly his dad; John B was just kind of tagging along.
· their friendship began when John B accidentally bumped into Sarah (who had also come to ‘help,’ but in reality, she and JJ were mostly just getting in the way, so the adults gave them busywork).
· JJ, watching from a distance, didn’t hear the apology or see John B offering to help Sarah up. all he saw was Sarah on the ground and some boy standing in front of her. naturally, JJ did what he always did in situations like this—he attacked.
· JJ tackled John B to the ground, proud of himself and ready to check on Sarah, but John B wasn’t having it. he got up quickly and hit JJ back.
· the two of them started fighting, rolling around on the ground, completely ignoring Sarah, who was yelling at them and trying to break it up.
· thankfully, the adults stepped in before either of them got seriously hurt.
· they both ended up grounded for a week, but before that, they were forced to work together on the event decorations (actually helping this time).
· while decorating, they somehow managed to clear up the misunderstanding, get to know each other, and eventually become friends.
· not long after, they met Pope, and then Kiara, who happened to already be friends with Sarah. this was before the tragic incident at Sarah’s birthday, which caused a fallout between the girls.
· after the fight, the boys had two choices: reconcile the girls or choose between them. (spoiler: they chose the first option.)
The past few months had gone by incredibly fast, but perhaps that was simply a side effect of the happiness, that you'd been feeling - and it was all thanks to a certain blonde-headed Kook.
Despite your unusual and slightly strange first encounter; Jackson had surprised you to say the least. He was sweet and charming, and was unlike the rest of the douchebags that lived in Figure 8.
After a very, very long time of trying to earn your trust, the two of you became very good friends, which, of course, as it so often does, led to more. Much more..
Jackson had surprised you, by taking you on a bunch of different and each-time-amazing dates and always remaining the same. Even if he had a bad day, or he was in a bad mood - he never took it out on you: which was something you'd never experienced before.
You felt as though Jackson was your first ever nice boyfriend. Before him, was always the same 'bad boy' types, who never treated you like a priority, more like a quick fuck they could just toss to the side whenever they felt like it. And so, the attitude you originally had at your initial meeting, slowly began to disappear into softness and fondness for your new beau.
And so, having been together for about 3 months now, Jackson had invited you to spend Christmas with him and his family. He knew your situation at home was less than ideal, so he wanted you to have the best Christmas ever.
And so far, everything had gone amazingly. You'd agreed, as soon as the words left his lips, not wanting to find out which version of your parents you'd have on Christmas Day. Would it be the sweet, caring version of themselves, who love you unconditionally, or would it be the shouting, pissed-off-with-each-other version of them, who don't even spare you a second glance?
Right now, it was currently the 23rd of December - aka Christmas Eve - when you'd arrived at Jackson's mansion, on Goat Island, and knocked on the door. You were greeted with their butler, Mr Williams, who kindly took your bag and showed you to where Jackson was.
You were shown to the living room, where he sat with his mother and grandfather (Larissa and Wes Genrette). Mr Williams announced your arrival, before taking your bag to Jackson's room.
"Babe! You made it!" Jackson smiled, widely, standing up and pulling you into his embrace. You melted against him, your arms wrapping tightly around his waist. "I'm so happy you're here."
"I made it." You say, softly, looking up at him, with hearts in your eyes. He'd always make jokes about the way you looked at him, saying how you looked at him as if he'd hung the stars, which in your eyes he may as well have.
Every time you saw him, no matter what, he'd greet you the same.
First, he'd smile and exclaim excitedly.
Then, he'd wrap his arms around you, tightly - but not too tight.
Next, he'd place a gently kiss to your forehead, then to your lips.
And finally, he let you out of his embrace, only to then wrap his arm around your shoulders, pulling you against him.
And he did. He followed each step, as he always did, before letting you say your 'hello's to Larissa and Wes. The two (out of three) most important people in Jackson's lives, absolutely adored you. Wes thought you were a beautiful and kind soul, who was perfect for his grandson. And Larissa thought you were the kind of girl she'd always wanted for her little boy.
The rest of the day went well - you sat with Wes and talked about anything and everything; before going and helping Larissa make dinner; then setting the table and eating with them.
The Genrette's were known for their kindness towards everyone, including those from The Cut, like you. I know, not something you would have expected from the richest family on Figure 8.
And the best part?
They didn't treat you like a second-class citizen, or even a charity-case. They treated you as one of the family.
Later that night, you and Jackson had retired to his bedroom around 11. You had both changed into your 'pjs': Jackson wore a pair of grey sweatpants, leaving his muscular chest visible for you to gawk at - while you wore a pair of tiny black shorts and an oversized hoodie, that may have belonged to Jack at some point.
You watched as Jackson moved about the room, before joining you on the bed, wrapping his arm around your shoulders. You leaned back into him, smelling the familiar scent of his faded cologne and something salty.
"You smell nice. Like vanilla 'n something else." He said, as if he was inside your mind and was reading your thoughts. It was getting to that point in your relationship, where you both started to think the same way.
"Jasmine." You replied, tracing invisible patterns on his chest, with your finger. "It's my shampoo. Supposed to be vanilla and jasmine. But I'm pretty sure the vanilla overpowers everything else."
"Well, I like it, almost as much as I like you."
You chuckled softly, the sound making Jackson melt. He loved everything about you, but that laugh of yours was dangerous for him. "That's so cheesy, babe."
"Well, I'm happy to be cheesy to and for my girl. Just don't tell Rafe." he smirked, his hand moving up and down your arm, in comforting motions.
A moment of comfortable and happy silence goes through the room, before the chatterbox decided to break it. "I love Christmas, don't you? I think it's the best time of the year."
"Not really." You responded, casually, as if you were just answering a simple question.
But your casual answer to his question, made so many more questions appear in Jackson's head. Confusion was written all across his face, in his furrowed brows and his shocked eyes.
"What-? What do you mean you don't like Christmas?"
"I just-.. I've never really had a good Christmas. Not since I was 5 and I believed in Santa."
"You don't like Christmas because you know that Santa's not real?"
"No, babe, that's not what I meant."
"What did you mean? What's wrong with Christmas?"
"I mean, I've never really had a good Christmas. It always usually involves a cheap microwave dinner, or my parents fighting, hell, or even some of my cousins picking on me."
"Oh, baby, I'm so sorry."
"It's not your fault, it's just.. the only type of Christmas I know."
Jackson sits up straighter, wrapping his arm around you tighter. He spoke using his usual confident and determined tone. "Well, this year is gonna be the best Christmas ever. And I'm gonna make you into a Christmas lover, just like me."
