Finally got a chance to experience Field with Dandelions at 16th & Chancellor in Downtown Philadelphia where and entire 4-story building has been wrapped in a meadow. It's the latest install from Brooklyn based artist Patrick Jacobs who makes superrealistic detailed miniature sculptures. The diorama is viewed through a round glass peep hole built into the side of the structure. Through it you view a lush green field full of dandelions lit from within with a warm glow.

'The Slow and Inevitable Death of American Muscle' - CAR CRASH ART INSTALLATION
...at the Kimmel Center. It's part of an ongoing initiative of revolving art from the West Collection. These cars will eventually crash spectacularly in slow motion over the next 90 days.
Created by Jonathan Schipper, this "piece is the first of three public art installations SEI is providing on a temporary loan to the Kimmel Center to enliven its public spaces and attract audiences to its seasonal offerings and resident company programs."

SEI and the Kimmel Center open the SEI Innovation Studio with contemporary artwork
Visitors to the Kimmel Center will witness a spectacular car crash—in detail and in slow motion. The art installation, “The Slow and Inevitable Death of American Muscle” is a machine that advances two full-sized muscle cars slowly into one another over a period of 90 days, simulating a head-on collision.
The display is taking place right now as part of the opening of the SEI Innovation Studio, a new performing arts venue housed inside the Kimmel Center. It’s part of an ongoing initiative of revolving art work from the West Collection.

The SEI Innovation Studio at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts is a 200-seat venue created to house jazz and theater residencies during the 2013-14 seasons. Its entrance is a 22-foot tall glass panel structural. Rotating contemporary artwork from the West Collection will be on display in the lobby of the Studio.

West Collects 2012 Winners on Display at City Hall
The City’s Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy proudly presents West Collects – Philadelphia, an exhibition featuring the work of 10 Philadelphia artists whose works were recently acquired by the prestigious West Collection. In December of 2011, Paige West, Founder and Curator of the West Collection and owner of Mixed Greens Gallery in New York City, launched West Collects, a $300,000 international open call to bring emerging contemporary artists into her family’s collection. Because of Philadelphia’s robust emerging art scene, $100,000 was offered specifically to local artists.
Overall, Paige West selected 30 new artists for 2012 out of 2650 applicants from 80 countries. In addition to Philadelphia’s 10 artists, 13 other American artists and 7 international artists had their work acquired through the competition. The national and international artists’ works will be shown in a new warehouse space in Oaks, PA. The West Collection of Contemporary Art, launched in 1996, is housed publicly in Oaks, PA. Over the last 15 years, the West Collection has grown to include over 3,000 works from more than 675 artists from around the world. Loans of West Collection exhibitions and works have been made to the Museum of Modern Art, the Tate Modern, the Corcoran, the Whitney, as well as numerous regional museums and Philadelphia institutions.
