I just had a BRILLIANT thought. Fennelmoth doesn't have a known baby daddy yet right?

What if the baby daddy is Wetwhisker's kid. Make him have to acknowledge his "ex", and also the fact that his kid ignored his request to please not interact with those particular children thank you

Wetwhisker freaks out because he worked so hard to get over her and now they're entangled again and oh no what if all his progress is ruined

and Mouseshell doesn't recognize him (again)

I think Wetwhisker would never realize that Mouseshell's "little brother" is actually her kit, and just thinks Applesting got pregnant somehow

oh he’s not her kit! He was just an abandoned kit that got attached to her because she was the first other cat he saw so he started following her and calling her mama, which made her uncomfortable

I get the confusion tho lol

now I imagine it would be the opposite. Wetwhisker is like “I know who he really is 🥹” and she’s like “no you don’t”

I Think I have Wetwhisker's family background sorted out now. His parents were in a relatively similar situation to him and Mouseshell, with his mother being Obsessed with his father, and his father really not caring that much, and he had just wanted to fool around with her, but then she got pregnant and announced to everyone that he was the father and that they were mates now, so he felt a bit... stuck with her, to say the least.

So Wetwhisker grew up with a distant father, who'd regularly go out to the twoleg place to get high on catmint and bang kittypets whenever he could, barely visiting him in the nursery, and a Very Obsessed mother, who insisted that every little thing he did was a mirror of how perfect his father was.

And that's why he never really noticed that Mouseshell wasn't into him, because his mother had raised him to believe that's just what true love looked like.

I'm thinking of the name Scorpionkit for Guppy's sibling rescued by Wetwhisker, since scorpions are arachnids like spiders are, and Wetwhisker's first kit is named Spiderbite. I'm also thinking Scorpionkit is a pathetic little manipulator, sad beast physical energy and semi-failed attempts at manipulating others to do things they want, which actually aren't too selfish. Well, maybe a little selfish. They're working on getting Wetwhisker and Spiderbite to make up

I love the idea of someone who's such a schemer but who's really nice so all their "tricks" are just nice things

I also like the idea of Scorpionkit--outside of the making his family make-up--TRIES to manipulate cats and be mean, but it always backfires into something nice

there’s something there with both Wetwhisker and Mouseshell being overbearing overprotective kits, but perhaps in different ways….like how Wet and thought he wanted them but couldn’t find it in him to love them while Mouse didn’t want them but ends up loving them so much

Torn between having Wetwhisker be an overbearing parent, in some kind of weird attempt to make himself love his kit, or Mimic his dad and be an absent father. Either way, I think i don't think he can look his kit in the eyes without seeing some reflection of himself and that's why he struggles to love them

I like the first idea more because toxic parents who are toxic because they’re trying to be good parents is more interesting I think
