Once again I got reminded that "That time I got reincarnated as a slime" exists, and I want to take this chance to explain why I think "I Got Reincarnated as a Minor Character (♂) and I Won't Give Up on TS"
(or WGUTS for short cause that is a long title) does the same kind of trope better than slime ever could.
See the problem with slime is that's it's a slice of life disguised as a shonen. What I mean is that due to Raphael's presence there have been no threat worth considering since ... basicly since Rimuru became a demon king, so a while now, and there probably won't ever be. Unless Raphael gains a physical body and Rimuru has to confront it himself without reliying on cheats, Slime isekai is basicly stuck being a slice of life with exagerated drama.
And I want to make a parrallel with WGUTS and Sorciera, who is housing the Starreader's Staff (or Zero for short) in her mind - which plays the same role as Raphael, that is constructing big Magic Spells and making Sorciera generaly OP. And the difference between the two is night and day.
The first is obviously that Zero has an actual personnality (and she's a pure yandere), and a body that she can use. She's very fun when she roams around. Which very much makes her less of an IA like Raphael and more into a friend of Sorciera.
The second is ability. Raphael Knows everything, everytime. but Zero, while she's as good when it comes to magic, has little knowledge of the world, meaning that Sorciera needs to find information when she's missing something. Also Zero, while powerfull, can get hard countered sometimes.
The third is in their protagonist. Rimuru is a good person who tries to save people when they can, and sometimes they get carried away while putting an oponent in there place. But if they are late to save someone ? The plot has to find a reason why they where late. So when they fight, the moment they step in they can reverse the situation and it's ... boring at best.
Sorciera ? She's rarely fighting for herself, mostly helping others. But. She Understands Content and audiences. So she'll always save or help at the last possible moment, even if she was there the whole time. Which means, that the other characters around her have meaningfull fights, victories, and defeats. Like Rimuru, you know she's gonna win. she's just that OP. But you don't know what kind of impossibly twisted show she's going to pull off, nor what kind of impossibly shonen stuff the people around her are going to try.
Anyways, I'm not saying you should drop Slime Isekai. If you enjoy it, then isn't that all that matters.
I Am Definitely saying you should Read WGUTS though.
