Hello now I must ask: can I hear about your original book idea?

Well it’s not anything special like a novel or anything. It’s just a cute children’s book idea about teaching kids the colors of the rainbow. It’s mostly a picture book with a simple plot involving my protagonist trying to find his pet chameleon after it runs off due to being scared by a cat. The chameleon blends in with the objects in the background and you’re just supposed to like, where’s Waldo it on every page. The protagonist visits all his friends and each of their rooms is a different color with objects in that same color, and then the chameleon is hidden somewhere in the room. Nothing groundbreaking but I’ve wanted to write it for years and years

My sister just told me that my New Year’s resolution for 2025 should be to finally finish the children’s book I’ve wanted to write for well over a decade and she said that if I finish it, she’ll take me to the Smithsonian to see the ruby slippers in person

Do you have any ocs?

I do but they’re not fleshed out too much yet. I have a google doc of my current fic that I’m working on where I have the characters listed and what it is they do. They all work on a cargo ship called the Lydia Eva and so I just basically wrote down their jobs on the ship. There’s the captain, engineer, ship’s cook, helmsman, medic, and a navigator/meteorologist. Plus there are some other random assorted characters that will appear later on in the story in minor roles. But like I said, I don’t have them especially well fleshed out at the moment. I’ve only written chapter one and I’m in the process of writing chapter 2 and the story I’ve got in my head is long (takes place over the course of seven years) and I haven’t quite thought that far ahead lol

I’ve written a prologue and most of the first chapter of a Treasure Island rewrite starring the Tangled characters (Varian is Jim Hawkins and you can use your imagination to figure out who everyone else is). I’ve not written the rest yet but if I posted it on AO3, would that be something you’d be interested in reading? I just kept thinking about the Tangled characters in the roles of the Treasure Island/Treasure Planet characters and I was like well might as well write it then
