🧳❄️💎📘 for Nadia and/or whoever you're currently hyperfixated on, please?
🧳 - What's one item your OC always carries with them?
A knife/bayonet. More specifically an AKM Type I bayonet. She's had that thing since she was probably seventeen and it's almost never been off of her person (and if it was it was nearby or promptly retrieved.) Well, for the most part anyway. There was a time where she slept with it on, and if it wasn't within grabbing distance she was probably going to be pretty antsy/on edge. Over time, though, she's learned to relax and is comfortable having it sitting somewhere she can grab in an emergency instead of having it under her pillow or in her nightstand. Not to mention using it as an ordinary tool and not just a weapon. For something more normal, she keeps a small Orthodox cross she was gifted at the orphanage. She worked hard to keep that thing a secret, lest the men around her confiscate it. The knife on her 24/7 was pretty handy for that. Kept folks from snooping.
❄️ - What is your OC's favorite thing about the winter time? Or, if they celebrate, what is your OCs favorite part about Christmas?
The snow, specifically how quiet and still everything is. It's comforting. It has a soothing affect on her and it seems to get her anxiety to shut up. As for Christmas, she likes the lights. Snow silence + warm Christmas lights are the absolute perfect combination for her. Maybe throw in a fire, too, indoor or outdoor.
💎 - What is your OC's birthstone? Do they match, or "fit", their birthstone and what it represents?
She's a December baby, so she has three whole birthstones to choose from. Some gem websites say they represent wisdom, protection, tranquility, and new beginnings mainly. I think protection and new beginnings fit her best. She has had very few people to protect her over the course of her life, but those that did she would kill and die for (of course those people wouldn't let her, imagine that lol.) And also new beginnings fit her well. She's had a lot of those. Most of them bad, but she gets a good one in the end once she's free from both Perseus and Adler and she gets a nice, quiet place in the middle of nowhere with no one to bother her and loved ones to protect her.
📘 - Does your OC like to read? If not, do they have another preferred method of getting information/entertainment? Do they like stories or facts more?
She does, and she's more of a fan of fiction over fact. She handles facts enough in her life, and she has a hard time with paranoia and not being able to trust information presented to her without a lot of vetting. It's a side effect of the trauma, physical and mental, that both sides put her through. She'd much rather be able to focus on a story and not whether or not a fact has been twisted for the sole purpose of weaponizing it against her and rewriting reality (somewhat a part of canon, not that that's hard to believe, and she's in therapy and medicated, don't worry.)
ASK GAME
Hello now I must ask: can I hear about your original book idea?
Well it’s not anything special like a novel or anything. It’s just a cute children’s book idea about teaching kids the colors of the rainbow. It’s mostly a picture book with a simple plot involving my protagonist trying to find his pet chameleon after it runs off due to being scared by a cat. The chameleon blends in with the objects in the background and you’re just supposed to like, where’s Waldo it on every page. The protagonist visits all his friends and each of their rooms is a different color with objects in that same color, and then the chameleon is hidden somewhere in the room. Nothing groundbreaking but I’ve wanted to write it for years and years
Okay I love this AU ask game! How would you and your husband do in a Pacific Rim AU (obviously I had to ask lol)? Or, if you've already been asked that, how about a pirate AU?
Oooo this is fun
He has some electrical training and likes to tinker, so I'm going to plop him in the role of building Jaegers
And I like cleaning, so I'm going to say I'd be the janitor on base
We're aware of each other, we interact sometimes over meal breaks and such, but we're not exactly close
Then a Married Couple of Pilots (our best friends IRL who are absolutely drift compatible) start inviting us to sit with them at lunch regularly, and will sometimes bring a deck of cards for us to play something together.
So we get to know each other better, but still aren't Close
But then, something happens. The Couple gets taken down in battle, and the area is deemed too hazardous to attempt a rescue. So husband and I "borrow" a Jaeger he's been repairing, and are shocked to learn that we are, in fact, drift compatible
We rescue our friends, and I sincerely hope he won't bring up my thoughts of his cuteness that he saw (he does, of course, and we live happily ever after)
(We're also both definitely fired from the program, but we'll find another way to help)

#5 and 6 for the OC ask game?
For this, I decided to talk about Timor, the protagonist of my original medieval fantasy story The Four.
5. How did you choose their name and why? Was it simply based on vibes or is there any specific meaning behind the name? Are the reasons behind their name different in- and out of universe?
The first thing you need to know about Timor, and this story in general, is that I came up with it when I was twelve. Speaking with the wisdom of hindsight, it was the first original novel I ever came up with that actually showed real promise, and the only original story from that stage of writing that I've kept around. Suffice to say, I had absolutely no idea what I was doing, I just knew I wanted to write a fantasy story. The main concept for this character was that he starts out scared of everything, and through the course of the story, finds courage and eventually comes into his own by the end. So when I set about naming him, I just looked up "fearful" in the thesaurus and saw the word "timorous," which I'd never heard before. Thus, Timor was born. I still think it's a really solid name.
6. What was the thought process behind their appearance? Did you go mostly for the aesthetic or are there other reasons they look the way they do?
During the summer leading up to the school year in which I began developing The Four, I started reading the Prydain Chronicles by Lloyd Alexander. The first installment, The Book of Three, had this cover in the publication I had:
While reading these books, I used to lie in bed just gazing at the covers and daydreaming, imagining completely new stories based on nothing but the cover art. Most of those daydreams led nowhere, but one thing I clung to was a character inspired by this picture of Taran.
In the end, Timor is almost nothing like Taran in terms of personality - Taran is impetuous and wants desperately to be a hero and a warrior like in the tales, while Timor would really rather just hide under the bed until the adventures and heroics find someone else. But I got that from the fearful look in Taran's eyes in this picture. And I also took his black hair as inspiration, and that band around his forehead? That became the catalyst for the whole plot!
But in case you're wondering, no, The Four has never included a pig nor a red-haired girl with a glowing bauble. I think even Baby Novie realized that would be too derivative XD

I chose Make Me Whole from your Conversation Hearts list!! The dynamics were so lovely!!! I'm a sucker for Sam and Bucky. I loved the way the fic differed from the MCU, and the backstories the author built for Winter and Sam. The scenes where Winter and Steve each read LOTR out loud to the other were SO GOOD!!!! And I cackled out loud at the HYDRA!Cap mockery. Ooooh, and that final fight against Crossbones!!!! It was EPIC
Where were your favorite parts?
Aaaah, yay!!! :D
HEHEHEHEH, ain't it magnificent?
. . . Good question, honestly-- I love the whole thing so much it's hard to single out favourite moments. XD
I'm definitely partial to the scene where the three go out for a run and Winter and Steve take off and leave Sam in the dust-- it's very vivid in my mind. The bit when Winter goes out in the rain is also dear to me-- as is the reveal in the final chapter (!!!). (I also love all the little bits of Nat that we get.)
(And if you liked that, here are some deleted/extended scenes and snippets from the same story: https://archiveofourown.org/works/14073009/chapters/32421924)
