perhaps they are considered outlandish even among the people of the outlands for their secrecy and guarded behavior, but bloodhound has quickly adjusted to not being the one and only person that sticks out in a room.

there is a young man standing almost bow-legged in his discomfort; their scan of the establishment reveals the size of the crowd responsible. the people have all appeared in a rush for some kind of event, and that alone is enough to make the hunter want to leave.

before they make their escape, though, they approach the boy. he could do just as well with some fresh air, they think. no one deserves to feel overwhelmed.

❝ are you alright? come on, let’s go outside. ❞

Orianna hadn’t considered that fish could come in so many colors. 

There is a place on Pearl Street that boasts an impressive aquarium, practically teeming with fish that appear more decorative than anything. Though Piltover is close to the sea, no one seems to pay much mind to the ocean. Commercial fishing is not a popular industry in the city of progress, and fish kept as pets are practically unheard of.

She has no idea if the restaurant’s food is any good; Orianna only has eyes for the tank, pulling up a chair and producing a journal in which to take notes. The aquarium serves its purpose of attracting people in that regard. If the staff tell her to leave, she will, but until then...

The Ball sways to and fro, as if following the movements of the little creatures. Orianna envisions one of her wind-up figurines, in the unique shape of one of these tropical fish. It would emulate their locomotion — perhaps she could obtain colored metals with which to construct it?

After some time, a boy approaches the aquarium with a like curiosity. The fish seem to grow more active with his presence. Orianna briefly pauses her note-taking.

❝ Oh, hello. They must like you. ❞

corvo only needs one look at the familiar silhouette tracking slowly across the beach to feel as though he is dreaming. there is no whalesong, no strange gravity, no seeping cold. the void does not reach this place, and that is perhaps the strangest thing about it. if it had not sprung forth from the font of creation, where did it come from?

if corvo is not asleep, if there is no touch of the void, how is it that he sees the outsider manifested and dragging his boots through the sand?

he seems lost. it’s uncharacteristic for someone who is supposed to be privy to all the world’s knowledge.

though the royal protector holds little love for the deity, he cannot help but feel that he owes the outsider a bit of sympathy. corvo opts to see what has him looking so dejected, rather than allow him to mope at the water’s edge alone.

❝ i don’t think i’ve ever seen you look so miserable, ❞ he says, approaching with his hands in his pockets. he’s careful not to get seawater on his boots. ❝ if you’re trying to take a reprieve from your usual routine, i don’t think you’re doing it right. ❞
