i need advice: should I take WHAP?
Hey everybody! Incoming sophomore here. i’m in some need of advice:
See, i’m already gonna be taking 3 AP’s this year (i’ve never taken any before, but if it helps i was in all Pre-APs last year) and the rest of my classes are all Pre-AP. Here’s my projected schedule:
AP Physics 1
AP Spanish 4 (AP Spanish Language and Culture) (im kind of fluent, i’m latina but raised in america so this wouldn’t be a hard class for me most likely)
AP Computer Science Principles
Pre-AP Chemistry
Pre-AP Algebra 2
Pre-AP English 2 (although its supposedly a blowoff class and way easier than pre ap english 1)
World History (AP or regular is undecided)
I’m *really* undecided on whether to take WHAP.
pros to taking regular WH:
My problem is i have a bad memory and i still don’t really know how to study for content heavy classes and apparently you’re supposed to have that for such a rigorous history course. But i’m trying to fix that over this summer with the help of studyblr and self studying subjects out of my own will.
I don’t know what taking an AP is like so i’m not even sure if i’m ready for 4 AP classes, especially not a monster like WHAP.
Cons to taking regular WH:
I feel like i’d be holding myself back if i take regular world history considering that even a B in that class is an A weighted. Last year i made at least 90s unweighted in every class despite being unmotivated and not trying very hard. I am *not* messing around this year though so i know i’ll put all my effort into school and i *can* do better.
I have 2 notebooks from past students of WHAP that can likely serve to my advantage
If i take regular, i’ll need a literal 100 in the class for it to not be detrimental toward my GPA and undoubtedly, bc accidents happen, i’ll probably end up making a silly mistake on a test or a quiz or a project and bring that grade down from perfect.
i have a bad track record with “easy” classes; i tend to blow them off subconsciously and put less effort into them so they end up being my lowest grades :( I fear that the same will happen to regular WH if i take it.
So, based off my schedule and all these details, do you think it would be in my best interest to take the class this year? What was taking WHAP like for you guys? any response helps. please reblog if you can to spread this post to past WHAP students, i need all the advice i can get. thanks so much everyone!
