I forgot to share this funny thing.

In chapter 28, “You’re Trouble”, Victor is wearing a scarf in a way that covers the lower half of his face to the pub. Originally, he was gonna wear a balaclava. Because I have one for those harsh winters and it looks like this.

Just a hood and a mouth thingy, you know. I feel like an assassins creed character in it but that’s besides the point. The problem was that when I googled balaclava THIS came up.

I know that the thing that I have is also usually described as a ski mask on amazon, but when I think of ski masks I usually think of this thiEF you see before you. So I just said fuck it and made him wear a scarf because there was no safe word for what was going on in my head.

okay! okay. have spent most of today doing research for a workshop on networking + creating support structures for yourself in academia, w/ a specific focus on how to navigate those spaces if you are not white, male, straight, and/or middle class. as per peggy mcintosh’s advice, i’m trying to structure the workshop so that i am co-presenting (ie sharing my experiences alongside a number of other people and minimizing my own floortime). i’m also creating a doc with some of the resources i’ve found in my research thus far, but am making it editable so people can add their own materials or write comments. i have taken in a LOT of information today, and am also getting sick (which always makes me extremely grumpy). i think i am going to go home a little early so that i can prepare for book club tonight and maybe take a v short nap.
